danowena: The design and build quality is . If the Geramans had made the titanic Jack would probably still be alive today So every circuit has a dedicated RCD (the one with the blue switch),.... interesting. @ Bolded, I can see that from the labelled circuits and the number of blanks. The panel appears to be grossly underutilized. black man go say this one na waste . but the white man thinks differently. In the event of a remodeling or relocation this panel can serve an apartment three times the size of the existing 1 Like |

allCopacetic: Within the 6 years, Mr B who bought the 600ngn bulb would have bought 3 more times while Mr A is enjoying his good choice. God knows I'm not buying Apple devices because of they're cheap but for the quality. _______ Sure, there are times one has to be used as guinea pigs to tell a good story. Now that I know the difference, I'd be more careful and conscious about my choices. The AKT vs Phillips bulb is a perfect example of how Naija electricians lead many unsuspecting homeowners to make a wrong choice. XYZ bulb na de best..., naija cable are the best... Na so dem take mouth sold the thing to me. Trust me, I only used them (the fake bulbs) outdoor on the streetlights (not even on the fence). ________ I can tell you bro if the only thing we've got to offer is quality, people will still buy knowing fully well that they've chosen peace of mind over heartache. 1 Like

allCopacetic: My friend, why will I seek the living among the dead? Hope you got my drift? For those who have seen me in the markets before, I don't move from shops to shops. I always stay in a shop to buy all my goods (get my discount and ask the good supplier to even make recommendations to me). I do not have to be told the difference between a Mac and PC neither should I be fumbling to make a choice between German Furnitures and Mushin-finished woodwork (even though they'll serve the same purpose but different masters). A supplier shouldn't supply fake and expect the electrician to filter it out. What happens when the purchased items are meant for DIY projects? What's far more worse than quacks spreading wrong information is patronizing a Pro who choose to remain silent about it and the government who let evil triumph while trying to increase IGR? So long you can pay the clearing charges in Nigeria, anything goes! _________ Now, I won't want to discuss a problem without proposing a solution. 1. People should "Change" their mindset. They should be well aware of those things that should be quality upfront. 2. Govt should clamp down on fake/counterfeit material suppliers and put drastic measures in place to end this. They can take a cue from countries like USA, Dubai, Indonesia etc 3. Manufacturers should do more to sensitize people on the reason why they should make the right choices. 4. All professional bodies whose statutory functions are not more than collecting members annual dues and fighting for titles should be scrapped. The industry only need Private Inspectors/Surveyors who can perform quality check on devices and equipment installed. All those ATN, COT, ANND, bullsh*t should be scrapped. Good morning! 1 Like |

Looks like what I would expect, pls confirm that this is outside of Nigeria ? In all the electrical re-wire installations that I have overseen (not in nija), I typically use MK/Wylex 10/12 way dual RCB consumer unit (This is the new regulation for Part 17 certification). Every major circuit has its own breaker (cooker, upstairs light, downstairs light, sockets, electric shower if applicable etc), and you can isolate various part of the house etc. I bought DB in Nija ABB or so, but TBH I dont remember what they look like and if they have exactly same functionality, I know it has MCB breakers (we had to hide that during rough in works) but how many I do not remember. Here, I have every part of the house with its own breaker, including the garage, last week a friend who got excited with my hedge cutter mistakenly slit the cable . Luckily the garage has its own small DB and set of breakers, i had tripped off an intermediary one, so it was just a case of lifting it back up, and I shouted UP NEPA !. I was thinking of buying ABB boards from England and shipping to Nija, this was when I was hearing about the various fakes and I didnt want to take chances, I however found it difficult to find our typical Nija DB over here, and I dont want to buy the type that is used here just in case it doesn't work, so I just bit the bullet and bought it from nija like that, but ensured it was the real thing and had electrician verify it. Our Electrical pros, pls confirm if the below can work in nija. I am just curious danowena:

@Madam Gabby Any reason for the gens on the balcony, in my experience I find that the smoke more of less messes up the paint work, and in this day and age of tiling everywhere, will it not mess up the tiles also engine oil leaks etc ? @Engineers, Structurally also, is there evidence to suggest generators can affect the superstructure/substructure ? gabbytabby: |

EgunMogaji: Oga Egun, Nothing dey dat website wey we never discuss here o. It is a corporate website like most others, detailing company profile, products line and allied services. Of interest to us pursuant to our ongoing discussion is the Stromkreisverteiler. I'm not educated about how these devices are deployed in Nigeria. However, my experience here is that every circuit has its independent breaker. This means that every area of the appartment or house is independently circuit separated in the likely event of a malfunction or damage. Suffice it to say that troubleshooting then becomes a child's play because the afflicted circuit's switch will be physically turned off, aiding identification. It is a building code requirement in my neck of the woods. It is customary to find the following in a multi dwelling setup. Notice that a metering device is attached to that setup and every appartment has one of these ( No be Egun i dey tell o, the oga sabi dat one pass me ). BTW, I found some switches, sockets and motion sensors that may appeal to your sense of aesthetics. Look here sir: https://www.hagebau.de/bauen-renovieren/elektroinstallation/?p=1&view=web_list. You gotta scroll down a little to find the goodies though. |

If they dont change their oil at 4-6 weeks interval then they smear their balcony. During their tenancy their balcony their problem shikena. Safety and convenience determines location. So far none has a sufficientlyy big generator to be a concern upstairs. I cover the basis by including in tenancy agreement. mavverick: |

To have a elderly man or woman or whatever you classify youself as type what I read below is utter gabbage and affirms a middle aged man going through a patch. gabbytabby: Mummy, this is not automation. It's just extending the wiring from the starter switch to a more convenient place. We've used similar since the early 70s in Saki. |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Nobody: 5:37pm On Aug 04, 2016 |
mufutau55: There's no automation involved in extending three wires from the switch at a generator to another switch at a more convenient location. It should cost less than N1,000 in wires and switch for a prudent run. |

This would be automation. 1) No electricity 2) Oga car is arriving 3) isolate nepa incoming voltage 4) start generator 5) energize voltage to house .............. 6) Madam is also detected to be arriving 7) madam has set a minimum temp of 70 degrees when she's home in the afternoon close windows and doors 9) pull drapes 10) turn on AC and set to 70 11) when front door opens and ogas iPhone comes into main lobby then cue "oriki ijebu" That is automation, it's not remotely turning on and off a gen |
