patches689:I never said f35 is stealth. Read well again. Current stealth technologyF35 is truly a beast. Install the EA-18 with a good AESA L band radar and the f35 will be blind on air. |

Henry240: Highly unlikely that F22/35 will be operating in a heavily contested airspace. AGM-158 JASSM will be though The shoot-down in Serbia was more due to an increadibly skill-full operator than anything else. No one said stealth makes a thing invisible, its just dramatically reduces detection times, which makes it harder to counter and makes the successful delivery of its payload more likely. Its a statistical thing based on long term degradation of enemy air-defences: x many sorties, Y many payloads delivered against Z many assets lost. |

patches689:I agree with you on this. However those weapons won't guarantee that F22-F35 safety. Their stealthy nature won't guarantee them success when conducting SEAD. Remember the enemy operates AWACS and early warning radars. I believe US already developed a better coating for the f35 capable of operating in areas where L bands and others are present . If that is so, then the f35 deserve the hype. |

tdayof: Again, not really, its just about pushing back the enemy air-umbrella one day at a time. Get to the limits of their defences, deploy stand-off munitions and run away while F-22's and F-15's take on any fighters that come out to meet you. You may start off with your sorties ending 300km off the enemy coast... but day by day you degrade their defences until you safely operate deeper and deeper into their territory. Because we havent had a true strategic bombing campaign since GW1... a bombing campaign from January to April followed by only 100 hours of ground operations... and only tactical operations, people have forgotten the nature of true airwarfare. As for the F35, its a second teir multi-role platform. A bomb-truck to move in when the B1 Lancers, B2 Spirits and Cruise Missiles have done their work. Infact its the second to last asset to enter the scene... the last being the mighty A10 2 Likes |

patches689: Again, all this tactics depends on the sort of enemy. A Tier-1 enemy already has the defences in place to deal with this sort of a theoretical attack. It just won't work. Your above tactics would only work on countries with medium to poor air defences. Tier-2 countries would be Egypt, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Germany (in it's current state), Brazil, Saudi-Arabia. 1 Like |

Henry240: Read what I said again. Its about degradation from stand-off distances the pushes back the enemy air-umbrella. Be it through hitting targets, or simply by making the enemy expend all of their munitions. There is no real defence because it is strategic its a numbers game, and the US has more of everything and their "more" is harder to stop and harder to kill. B1's deliver payloads from stand-off distances F22's and F15s provide air-cover Upon degradation, F35's move in for tactical strikes These tactics are designed specifically for dealing with a Russia or China etc 1 Like

nemesis2u: did you say no EOD teams use mine-clearing line charges to clear IED !
|
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 7:34pm On Aug 06, 2016 |
you stated "ur assuming the pressure trigger plate and the explosives r attached together and buried together , u must have heard of electrical wires i guess it never entered ur mind that the explosive can be buried very deep while any pressure based FD (firing device) will be connected to it by electrical wires. the FD will be placed at the top surface/near the surface and will be covered / camouflaged with just enough soil so as to not detonate it prematurely " now let me ask you and listen keenly ,you buried your explosives deep (even if you have stacked several of them)i come with my metal detector and find the pressure based FD (firing device) that are top surface/near the surface .i cut the wires connecting to the explosives you buried very deep.now i ask you are harmless or not ! |
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 7:51pm On Aug 06, 2016 |
africaken254: i was pretty clear about time critical missions add to it availability of resources , terrain restrictions , vulnerability to enemy counter fire , advanced IEDs with anti handling features etc which dictates use of mine-clearing line charges. most countries will simply find an alternate route inorder to bypass it and later look to disable them by conventional means . but countries with lots of $$$$$ will use mine-clearing line charges. it is like a us president said i wont (will) fire a 5 million dollar missile at a 5 dollar tent. it aint cost effective and very few rich countries will use it to clear IEDs, but if u have the $$$ then it is a good means as effective as other conventional means . |

africaken254: lolzzz they r not using it to clear mines/ieds they r using it as a area effect weapon , that is destroy entire city block which r infested with enemy combatants . assad army is backed by russian army , and when assads survival is at stake he aint care for expense. plus their use has been discontinued it seems, as there r no reports of their use for quite some time. |
