Hello Mamas and Papas, I know I should give details of my POE experience and birth. I'll do that as soon as I'm done with all the paper work.

Please I need information from Mamas who have flown AirFrance recently, particularly from Hoouston.

Someone mentioned here that emergency travel cert is no longer processed or accepted, which means the options are visa or Nigerian passport. Since I'm in Houston, I decided to process a visa but on calling AirFrance, they said baby can not fly with only a one way visa unless we buy a return ticket for both me and baby, since there's no proof that she's Nigerian.

Please has anyone had this experience and how did you resolve it? Is there any advise on how I can handle this without getting a passport and not buying a return ticket for both of us? I can't go all the way to the states with Nigerian embassies.

Your responses will really be appreciated.

Currently reporting from IAH. Just landed. POE was a breeze although the man wanted to form asking plenty questions. Below is my transcript:
Once he sights me with my very big top the questions begin:
Me: Hi(while smiling)
CBP: hi, where are you from?
Me: Nigeria( his demeanor changed)
CBP: why are you in the United States
Me: still smiling, I say to have my baby
CBP: why are all Nigerians coming here to have thier baby:
Me: I don't know about others but I am here for the better healthcare.
CBP: everyone says better healthcare.
Me: I had complications with my first baby in Nigeria, so the 2nd one I had him here. I enjoyed the experience so am back for my 3rd.
CBP: everyone says they have complications in Nigeria. Don't people have babies there anymore? So you want your babies to be Americans. That means you plan to move here in the future.
Me: I don't know what the future holds but what I know is that it's their decision if they plan to move here. While saying all these, my smile is broad o. And I'm looking calm.
CBP: you said you had your last baby here:
Me: Before he could finish, I have my folder of receipts on his table.
CBP: how much cash do you have on you?
Me: $5,000. I brought it out and placed on his table plus my Dr correspondence showing my total and how much I had paid. He asked me to put it back.
CBP: where's your husband? Is he coming to join you for the birth of your baby?
Me: No he isn't.
CBP: Why?
Me: He has to stay back and take care of our boys. Then I showed him screen saver of my boys.
By this time, he was tired of me and my over openess. I did my biometrics. And he stamped me in for 6 months. No secondary inspection. At agriculture, I was asked jokingly if I came with Suya and okazi. I answered No to the Suya and yes to the okazi. Any indomie? Yes. Chicken? No, onion flavor. The guy didn't check anything and told me to go.
That's my own experience. In the spirit of giving back. Lol.
Emirates flight was very ok but also the longest flight I have ever had. From Nigeria to Dubai. Then when we got to Dubai they told us we will get to Boston 1st before houston. I almost cried. In all I give God thanks.

to the lady who asked about air France price to add infant ticket. Get to the airport with your infant and pay. I followed a Nairaland mama who had become a sister o the airport today. When she called air France on phone they have her quite of $460 . When she got there the guy booked return ticket for the baby and the cost came down to &190.67. Best thing is to get to the airport first . And yes no more etc you have to do visa .

Good day my wonderful e-family.
I ought to have done this at least 3 weeks ago. But for one reason or the other I couldn't write my POE experience on time. But like the common saying goes "better late than never"

So this is the first part of the testimony. I'm earnestly awaiting the second part (d arrival of my LO in less that 3 weeks).

Sorry for the long post and once again sorry for posting late.

You can go with doctors letter alone and moreover, not all doctors in the US accepts payment before patients arrival in the US.

Happy Sunday everyone!!!

This is my testimony for how God FAVOURED me with a visa in spite of TWO visa DENIALS.
I sincerely want to thank everyone here you has shared their transcript, given advise etc…you never know who you are helping.
I hope this encourages and blesses someone…will keep it as short as possible even though as you can imagine 2 denials….it is really long story 
Interview 1-Applied for drop box renewal (in April) for a B1/B2 and was called to ABJ for interview.
After pleasantries
VO: You applied for a 3 weeks visa and ended up staying for 3months, why?
Me: my initial plans was for a vacation, but I couldn’t make it cos of work pressures and so i decided on giving birth in the US. I wrote to the consultant about my change of plans and got a response saying it was ok but I should pay my bills
V0: who replied you?
Me: The consulate office
VO: Yes is not a crime to birth in the US but it’s a crime to conceal actually intention during an interview
VO: when did you have your baby….counted back to the date of the interview exactly 9months
Me: As at the time of having the interview I didn’t even know I was pregnant, it was just only the first month
VO: Do you have your receipts, let me see them….showed him (birth was in Houston).
VO: the receipt from the paediatrician looks like somethg you get from a Barbers shop and how come it cost just $235.
Me: that’s the receipt the doctor gave us during our appointment you can confirm her name against one of the docs we got from the hospital (showing who the baby’s Dr is).
VO: checks it out but doesn’t seem convinced…kept saying anyone could have given me that paper
VO: so now tell me again why are travelling to the states and for how long
ME: I am going to birth and rest after the birth, so I plan to stay 3months.
VO: but that’s not what your application says, you applications says you are going for 3weeks and its for vacation
Me: shocked….was so sure it was 3months not 3 weeks (an error I didn’t realize till the interview)
Am sorry that was a mistake the intent and purpose was for 3 months, I have used a B1/B2 visa cos its drop box…I didn’t write vacation anywhere on the form
VO: and you equally didn’t state anywhere on the form that it was for birth. The filling of your form is your responsibility and you are accountable for the information
Me: I take responsibility for me mistake
VO: type and types for like what seemed forever….endpoint denial.

Interview 2 (June) in Lagos….now applied for a B2
VO: what’s the purpose pf your visit
ME: to give birth
Where: LA
VO: how did you hear about the hospital?
Me: from a colleague who recently gave birth there, she had positive things to say about the hospital so I got the contacts from her did my research and contacted them
VO: and how much do you think it’s going to cost?
Me: about $13,000, and you can see my budget not just for the hospital but for the entire period of my stay
VO: Glances over my budget and starts tying
VO: unfortunately you do not qualify for a visa
Me: you didn’t even check my financials or documents
VO: I don’t need to see any document or bank statements to know if you qualify, I know the immigration rules and right now you don’t qualify but you can reapply at any time.
I was shocked and pained to say the very least.

Before interview 3
Same weekend I got back I was encouraged by DH and some very wonderful friends to reapply and one of them kept saying I should just write the consulate asking for more clarity on the denial.
Initially I had cold feet, I mean you don’t want to complicate thgs, but after a week I felt I should so I did.
I wrote to the consulate (in Lagos) briefing narrating the interviews and expressing concerns that I wasn’t sure why my visa was denied and that I had reapplied so I wanted to know if there was anythg I could do differently to better my chances during my next interview.
Consulate response was a bit generic as you would expect but then they said the denial on 214 was based on a lack of evidence of strong ties, which could be because of finances, social ties etc.. and that it was up to the interviewing officer to decide, but that my concerns where noted.
About this time I read Lotus’s transcript on how his wife was denied and he used the expedited process to get a closer date.
So I wrote back to the consulate asking if in their opinion I qualified for an expedited visa (cos am due next month) and the earliest interview date I got (after all my midnight log in to refresh for a closer date) was August 12th
Response: again generic, but they said they always advise that the applicants status would have changed before reapplying and that they do not handle application, but to do an expedite I must have an existing application.
So I went ahead and did the expedite

Interview 3-July 28 Lagos-B2 visa
VO: why are you going to the states?
Me: to give birth
Where: Lynwood, CA
VO: what do you do….Bleep, where do you work….Bleep, what does your husband do….xxxx and where does he work…Bleep
VO: Do you have other children….Me: yes. One
VO: born in the states…yes
Vo: I see in Houston, so why are you going to LA this time
Me: My husband is a fan of LA, so I thought why not
VO: laughs, me self shines my teeth
VO: where would you be staying?
Me: in a hotel about 20mins from the hospital
VO: do you have a doctors correspondence, ME…Yes, hand over the correspondence
VO: now his not typing anythg, just reading thgs on his computer for like forever
Me: is there a problem?
VO: no, just reading up some notes
VO: does your husband already have a visa…Me: Yes
Keepings reading
VO: where again are you travelling to…ME:LA
VO: is your husband joining you…Me: Yes but around the time of the birth
Keeps reading
Vo: Everything looks good, when you do travel be sure to show you can pay your plans….and goes on with his advice, while I was just smiling, praising and thanking Baba in my mind.

I picked up my visa last Thursday(Aug 4th)….i can’t thank the Lord enough for coming through for us inspite of the mistakes, not even answering some questions right etc…Baba alone did.

A few words from me…read and read your form very well, if possible print out before submitting (your mind can play trips on you) and don't take any thing for granted. Back your interview with lots and lots of prayers. There will be lots of advise and testimonies on this forum …examine your heart and follow the one that bears witness to you.

In all I thank you all for all your contributions on this thread, God bless you all….
Second missionary journey now on course…though am using torchlight to look for accommodation in LA…but I believe, chuckles

Apologies for long post esp. for those reading on their mobile.
