The reason for that is that moneybags don't often consider running for public offices. Politics is an industry in Nigeria, in fact a high paying industry. There, it is more of a service. You don't contest for public office there to make more money. The moneybags who contest even there often have an edge. Globally, money is always an edge in politics. The more money you can throw around, the more influence you gather. Donald Trump the billionaire didn't just clinch his party ticket.
