Ill prefer Blind in the DM position...he already has the defensive ability having played as a defender for so long...has the carrick type of passes. I think he would be better with pogba in midfield once smalling returns.

Pogba and Herrera together as the only central midfielders is a recipe for disaster. It is not just about choosing the most skillful or dynamic midfielders, the manager has to choose the right combination that protects the defense as well as aids the attack.
Pogba was brought on for his attacking runs from midfield , so when he is doing that is it Herrera that will shield the defense or is it Herrera that will be dictating play from between the 2 CBs?

Carrick brings a calm presence to the midfield despite all the pressure, Can you say that with Herrrera Not to mention his playmaking abilities...

How dint it work out?? Blind at DM worked out fine. He was only shifted to CB becoz of Jones inability to stay fit and LVG's stubbornness to buy a defender(Otamendi and Ramos at the time).

Not bad. Infact that first line up is great provided Rooney can be benched of course.

2nd line up is ok. But Carrick should always play if he is at least 90% fit. If not, Schneiderlin ll ve to do.

3rd line up is no different from the first if u switch Carrick with Herrera.

So many things are wrong with the 4th lineup and we shouldn't even bother fielding it.
Firstly, Mourinho ll never play it.
Secondly, Martial is not a LM but a LW and/or LWF. So he wont be very comfortable in dat position.
Thirdly, the midfield is weak and we might suffer from one or two red cards considering both Pogba and Schneiderlin can be very rash in their tackles.

The 4th is for a situation where we are chasing a goal, its an all out attack with high line from the defence..... Martial will still play as a LW in this formation, same with Mhki, remember the attacking four would easily switch ( this is Mourinho, not Philsophy) while the two CMs would be ruthless in tackling, not forgetting Pogbas ability to shoot from distance....

But i'll prefer we go with the first always (without Rooney)

DM has to be some1 strong enough to cover the defence and intelligent enough to initiate attacks and carry the ball forward. While CM has to be a box-to-box Carrick kind of player.

And the formation is almost similar to a 4-1-4-1 setup that saw us beat Spurs, Liverpool and City

You are very correct, I remember the few games he played in Defensive midfield, he was a rock there coupled with the fact he's also a very intelligent player

Blind was a beast in that position when he played there under van gaal, if my memory serves me right, I think he put up some man of the match performances playing as a DM
