This is the constant debate i've been having with my mum and pple that visit. Its even tiring. Some say keep him wrapped up all the time cus its better he sweats and develop heat rashes than for him to catch a cold.
Others say don't use fan or AC for him until he's 6months.

For me, I don't use fan but Ac is a must. I always ask dem hw children born in extremely cold places survive. Biko, naija is too hot for the cover cover

Enque, you can start cleaning anytime, just avoid overstimulating the tips. Just gentle cleaning like once a week and then by the 35th week, you can intensify the cleaning.



Sugah, you know over there they are used to extreme cold. So to them, e no cold.
During the day, it is easier to watch out for sweats, shivers or ruffling of blanket. The baby is also active and generating body heat. It is also hotter.
Opposite happens at night.

This is what I did for my 2 babies.
Note that there is no one way to do things.
For Moyo, he wasn't a fussy child and didn't mind the heat or cold. He was born in July and it was terribly cold that year so he was always swaddled. When the heat set in, we put on AC and he did just fine with the occasional sniffles. He never had rashes even in the hot season. Out of consideration for his heart defect ( which is congenital), I have to always wear sweaters and vests for him in rainy season and long sleeved/trouser thick pyjamas for him cos we can't afford to have him cough ( to avoid strain on his heart). He rarely ever has rashes.

Her royal highness on the other hand, Miss Pretendingly FussyPants, came with shakara conditions. Barely a week after birth and she had a rash that spread from stomach up to chest/face/ head and down to the limbs, she was also extra cranky in the day and gentle at night. She was born in October so it was kinda warm, we didn't dare wear sleep suits in the day, in fact we wore very light clothing for her during the day, sleeveless gowns, onesies but always with a cap and socks. The rashes left, she slept longer during the day. As the days became hotter, dem no born us make we no on generator even during the crazy fuel hike, na night vigil be that.... Till now, she kicks off the covers. Once you switch the fan or AC, she readjusts and spreads herself well. Even with the way we try to pamper her, occasional rash still find ways to pop up.

So, I got a job with a multinational company 'despite' my pregnancy... I did the tests, interviews et al with my pregnancy; At first I was shy and somewhat apprehensive but God did it! Never knew it was possible to get a job with pregnancy in Nigeria esp when your edd is close (I'm a September mum).

I resumed work today and the HR told me I would proceed for my 3 months maternity leave, two weeks to my EDD..(Though the leave will be without pay as I would have worked for only a couple of weeks with the firm hence I'm not entitled to pay......I don't even mind)..

God is just wonderful really. . This my pregnancy has been a blessing. . Within this period of my pregnancy, i got admission for my masters in a Nig uni, Got a scholarship for the masters from Unesco and now this job...
Isn't God just wonderful?

Yes dear, we both had Myo's before pregnancy. Im meeting with my surgeon this week to schedule a date but my obgyn said they wouldn't do it before 39weeks.

Captain sugah e be like say u too will be August mum since our edd is the same.

5. 1 RPL menthylated spirit, is RPL a brand name?

Please does ewedu (I don't know the English name) aid contractions? MIL got to know I'm full term and brought almost 1ltr of cooked ewedu for me to "lick", no okele (swallow food; amala, garri) to accompany o.
Me that I thought I liked ewedu, now I know I don't

I actually plan to ask my doctor that question at my next doctors visit... although mamas here said to clean with olive oil and cotton wool, my matron in Naija said to just clean with water when you are bathing. But considering that I haven't seen any milk or liquid come out of my nipples even with pressing, im a bit worried hence my decision to ask my doctor.
