What ever Libya had before the fall is probably up gor grab. I would not be shocked if SA made 50cal snipers ended up in BH hands since we sold Libya a bunch before there fall.

MAW is something not too much to be developed. our military should develop please. MAW, RWR are being developed in my school, a whole country should be able to do better.

I would not even both with the RWR. BH does not use radar. And yes a MAW could easily be developed or a production right aquired from some one. They would be critical if BH started firing MANPADS at air craft.

haha so you are saying our airforce now have to start turning their head in search of manpads when flying? lol. AFIT should do something towards the MAW.

They should And should have a MAW. I think some of your choppers and aircraft may of come with a MAW. But all your aircraft need them.

I suspect they do. But then again the Russians fired flares before and after every attack. Not sure if there Choppet that got shot down had a MAW system. The aircraft Turkey shot down did not have one.

Even a plane has MAW ,can not gurrantee not been shot down.It depends on how advance the MAW and counter measure is, as latest missle has 2 guidances, and anti jamming mechanism. the SA-7 manpads is 1 gen manpad only have 1 guidence, easy to deal with, however the 3 gen MANPADS has been used in Syria can identify flares thus making flares useless.for a plane flying above 700m/s like F-7 is relatively safe as most MANPADS fly lower than this speed, and altitude is also important..

Funny enough the Ukrainians did away with this bit of inherited Soviet doctrine. Wrongly in my opinion. They kept all the other nonsense which is why their choppers are so useless in the DRC.

It's unfortunate that we've allowed common criminals acquire Manpads. At the end of the day, if we had stood by Ghadaffi, ensued a proper power transition instead of butt-licking the US and NATO into an intervention in Libya, Boko-Haram would have been well contained.

Foreign policy own-goal by Jonathan and Late Gbenga Ashiru.

Nigerian Navy Mine counter-measures Ship.

The Nigerian Navy operates two(2) Mine Counter-Measures ship, Lerici class vessels, predecessors of the EL Kasseh from Algeria.

Both ships have now been re-dedicated to Piracy duties.

we never cared about the ol africa...as if the problem of africa will not effect us....didnt it effect us as africa was been colonized..??...was our area spared..??

were the igbo, yorubas or hausas spared??.....we have to start thinking big...than been always defensive lets go offensive...let push the battle-grounds out of nigeria,chad,cameroon,niger......this is what china, russia, america are doing...

build your armies and bring the fight to the doorstep of your enemies...ecowas should have occupied libya by now and policing it to help the legitim goverment...

if we dont go offensive, then we will put ourselves in great danger...the weapons are sophisticating more and more....our police was well capable of taking boko haram out,in the time of jonathan....what went wrong!!??..

although we had enough man-power,we were lacking in sophisticated weapons and training.....we weakend boko now,but i am afraid we will go back to sleep again and allow boko haram to get more sophisticated weapons and tactics.... undecided undecided undecided undecided

most of the weapons meant for hamas in gaza ended up with ISIS in sinai ,we as africa need to realise that as long as we continue to neglect conflicts going on around us.one day those conflicts will come to haunt us.also most of our borders are porous and insecure,we assume that because we are safe in our cities we are safe.we have poorly run and equipped militarizes ,while consciously knowing the new emerging threat. while still assuming we can have economic prosperity .most parts of our countries are in accessible due to poor infrastructure, while still we wonder why its insecure !

in 2007 an ethiopian Hind was shot-down using a manpad in mogadishu by islamic courts union (alshabaab was a member of that coalition)

A helicopter has been shot down in the Somali capital, as Ethiopian and Somali government troops battle to clear insurgents from Mogadishu.
"The helicopter looked like a ball of smoke and fire before crashing," Ruqiya Shafi Muhyadin told AP news agency as it crashed in an area near the airport.

Correspondents say the Ethiopian helicopter was hit by a missile.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) says the fighting is the heaviest in the city for 15 years.

Dozens of people have died since heavy fighting began on Thursday, ending a six-day truce.

The ICRC said some 229 people, mostly women and children, had been taken to hospital in the past 24 hours.

Overwhelmed

A spokesman for the Ugandan African Union (AU) force confirmed the gunship had crashed near their base at Mogadishu's international airport.
