I don't think he is "nasty" enough to be a raging defensive midfielder, but as a carrick style deep lying CENTRAL creative midfielder I think it may work due to his smart passing and his prior experience as a rampaging left back! Those roles have taught him how to initiate attacks and contribute to build up play from the back!
