Pure capitalism akin to that of the US isn't ideal for a country as Nigeria. Infact it has never helped our economy neither has it raised the standard of living in the country nor income per capital of ordinary Nigerians. The type of capitalism we practice doesn't give room for competition and wealth distribution. It's just like being stuck in a box where nothing moves. Our system only enrich high handed monopolist like Dangote who in alliance with the rulling class milk us dry under the name of business. Now, when last in the past 20 years have you heard in Nigeria that price of goods went downwards. Even in the time of the so-called plenty we still had to cue to purchase stuffs at cut throat prices. How many jobs have been created since the past 20 years by our self acclaimed capitslism. Yet, you still have millions of unemployed graduated without jobs.
The Nigerian brand of capitalism is purely politically influenced and only breeds corrupt men in high places. Its high time we stop morgaging our future and toe the Chinese economic model, where wealth is evenly distributed with a buoyant industrialized economy.
