I decided to make these golden balls for yesterday's Iftar and a perfect roundness was achieved)

Flour-1/2 congo
Yeast- 11/2teaspoon
Sugar-1/2 cup
Nutmeg-1 teaspoon
Baking powder- 1/2 teaspoon
Salt- 1 teaspoon
Vegetable oil for frying

Procedure

Pour all dry ingredients in a big bowl.

Add the warm water and mix very well. (you don't want to use very hot water, so as not to kill the yeast)

Cover with kitchen towel and place in a dark place for 1 hour.

After 1hour, bring it out....then mix vigorously such that you deflate the air in it (this process is important to get the "roadside-like" puffpuff).

When you're through with this process, you'll be left with half the original risen size

Heat your oil and deep fry. it's important to deep fry ooo or else you'll be eating puffpuff pancake. (ice cream scooper is ok, if you're not skilled with the hand technique)
Enjoy your puffs.

(baking powder helps in the getting the nice round shape, nutmeg has a way of giving it a deli-taste too and yeast feeds on sugar so you might want to consider adding a little more....)

Most people sell flour in congos but half congo should be like two and half measuring cups.

*You might want to ask the question again*

You might want to add butter, eggs and baking powder and bake cake lol. but I don't think the flour will be useful if it's turning to sawdust.

I was just kidding with that line. Does buns require baking powder? sad If no cheesy cheesy, I'll just rush to the mallam in the next street and acquire those tiny blue band cups with 2 eggs. If this turns out well, I would make you a stakeholder in my buns baking empire!

Baking powder is necessary to get a perfect round shape. You don't have to put too much just about a teaspoon is okay.
