20 Free PHRi, SPHRi Exam Questions

20 Tips on Answering the Difficult HRCI Exam Questions
TIP TWO: Forget about what is obtainable locally, think globally!

I hope that by now you have been able to digest and apply the first tip I gave on preparing for and answering difficult HRCI exam questions. This week I will focus on yet another tip.
Some of the options contain practices similar to ones we adopt locally in our different countries whether you live in Egypt, India, Cairo etc. These practices that we adopt locally are not necessarily standard but we are easily drawn to theses options because we use these practices on a daily basis, but I'm here to disabuse your mind. “Forget about what is obtainable locally, think globally”. Gbenjo Olufisayo Assistant Human Resource and Admin Manager Vicmart( Procter and Gamble RD).

*In choosing your answers, you need to think of and select answers that meet global HR best practice and not what you do in your organization or country - Adetoun Adefala-ACIPM,PHRi™

I will further elucidate this tip with the following example:
1. Which of the following guideline relating to documenting employees’ performance is not correct?
A. Keep performance note on all employees
B. Document as situations occur
C. Focus on perceived underlying cause of deficiencies
D. Document only job related observation

Depending on how structured the organization you work- one of these options will readily jump at you;
Option A: when supervisors document employee’s performance, it is in line with standard best practice to keep notes on the employees they supervise to avoid forgetting their performance. Option “A” is acceptable on how to document employee’s performance so that’s not the answer
Option B: it is also in line with standard practice to document the employee’s critical event as they happen. (Please note that documentation is not the real appraisal it’s just to help supervisors keep track of various performance also to guide against different appraisal errors e.g – “Recency” or “Primacy effect”). If in your organization supervisors do not document as critical issues occur you might be tempted to select option B
Option D: it is in line with best practice to document only job related observation in a performance appraisal - nothing more nothing less (but if in your organization performance appraisal is use to document personal issues you might be tempted to choose option D)
Option C: Performance appraisal is used to document only job related observation and focus on subordinate’s deficiencies not the perceived underlying cause of the deficiencies, (e.g. you shouldn’t write in an appraisal “Employee’s performance did not meet standard because I think she had marital problem”. Option C is therefore the correct answer.

Watch out for another tip and share the article with everybody preparing for the HRCI Certification. www.hrcertificationng.com is a web and mobile study platform that provides practice questions and detailed explanation otherwise known as “Test Bank for HR certifications (HRBP- PHRi, HRMP –SPHRi and CIPM). Thanks @joygirl.
joygirl1:
@xmasgift HRCI have centers that they use for exams in Lagos Nigeria maybe they not finalized arrangement of the centers to be used for the September exams but mostly likely by the end of this month the details of the center will be communicated via mail. If you are however anxious about clarifying things you can send a mail to;

Yohana.Berhane@hrci.org
Yohana Berhane | Client Relations Representative

US Toll Free +1.866.898.4724 |Main +1.571.551.6700 | Fax +1.571.551.6799

informing her that you've registered for the exams and you want a Lagos center for the paper-based Exam.

But did you get a confirmation code and mail to verify that you registration was successful?
