ednut1:you spend 5-7m on masters in a foreign university. It's either the school has a bad ranking or you came out with a bad certificate or you do not know the right place to search for job. That's why you can only be jobless still. 3 Likes |

Op's assertion is relative... Yes Masters increase your chance of getting a job...but in all cases as experience does... Im on my masters degree presently...and believe me...if i had a job at all (a well paying one) i wont think of masters now because im not convinced to come for it...i was only conditioned based on joblessness and i've someone that would sponsor.. Same with most of my colleagues and my lecturers even attested to that... Lately...i got a job offer in an organization through connect...but the benchmark was a Masters Degree....i could not take the offer because im not done yet... Masters degree is relative...but i would advice people to gain experience first if they got a job and come for masters at ur own conviction... Only if you want to be an academics and got an age target for your qualifications..then Masters is your priority 7 Likes |

emmahoney: The system is faulty becos all of us are looking for formal jobs with tie and suits in cosy environment. We are too lazy to think and to take action. We will move forward in Nigeria when we see our graduates (Bsc, Msc holders) moving to the informal sector and creating small businesses, setting up tomato farms ;setting up modern restaurants, setting up modern mechanics outfits etc etc etc These small scale businesses is the engine room of any economy, that why your friend in the USA got three good offers. 3 Likes |

MinorityTribe: Depends on school and program. In UNILAG, part time is weekdays, 6-8pm (for MBA, and some courses), in OAU, same course is weekends. not all masters program have part time. |

tdayof:wrong. D reality is many pple now hv such and its no longer a big deal. As a graduate trainee without experience with masters u would still have to write shl tests do numerous interviews etc. Many pple chasing fewers opportunities |

It depends on the course u offered, someone who has masters in medicine or engineering has more advantage than someone with masters in courses lik mass come, biochem, microbio, etc cos u will see a class of masters and think that it is a 100 PvP class due to the population |

Slimszy: This is the normal excuse, you dont need million to start a trade. For example, Get a Nigerian used Ford Galaxy for =N=350k, you can convince family and friends to assist and schedule a repayment plan for one year. Get it registered in a park and drive the car yourself with good maintenance culture. I assured you, you will make not less than =N=60k every month and over =N=100k during peak period and pay back the fund you borrowed You can get your business fund from this simple analysis. Now ask a normal Nigerian graduate if he can do this, the usual answer is No, How can I be a common driver with my Bsc, Msc, etccc 1 Like |

Willie2015: You have got a point... But who would loan you amidst this economic hardship where governments find it hard to pay salaries? A friend of mine dropped the transport business recently who ply between Abuja and Keffi because of little or no gain owing to the increase in fuel price... Before now...he could get 3-4k income per day...but he hardly get 1k profit after a days job after the increase in fuel price... We have not mentioned maintenance fee, association due, fuel purchase... Sir...everything is not working in Nigeria expecially for starters... Imagine a welder without electricity... 4 Likes |

ednut1:Am sorry but the fact remains some people do not know the right place to look out for when looking for jobs. You do not expect someone with a master degree in aerospace engineering to start looking to job in Nigeria except he/she is ready to work in a university. Getting jobs nowadays deal with talent. I have seen fresh graduates working in companies like BMW. Some people think schooling is about getting the certificate then going out there to get a job with it. We should learn getting experience while in school. Most companies dish out research topics /programs online. Pick up one, work towards it then submit it to them. Your success in that research is already a breakthrough to you. However I have noticed Nigerians do think schooling is all about getting the certificate. They do not want to market themselves from the root. 2 Likes |
