I went for my ANC yesterday and met a more senior doctor. While palpating my abdomen, he said my uterus had reached about 4cm above my navel which is unusual for a 20weeks pregnancy (using my LMP-22nd of march which by the way i'm 100% sure of and i have a regular cycle). He said that fundal height is for about 25wks pregnancy and so he referred me for a scan. I'm worried about this, even made me unable to sleep well last night. Pls wat could be the reason for this?

Secondly while palpating, i felt pain on the left side of my uterus, he said i'm not supposed to feel pain. So he prescribed cefuroxine 500mg and panadol. Pls wat is the cause of this and are these drugs safe?

Pls help a worried FTM.

No need to worry, just do d scan first. Some people measure ahead. The part i'm not too comfortable with is Cefuroxime(antibiotic) for pains. Or did u hv other complaints? It's safe in pregnancy though.

His measurements of baby measuring 25weeks as against the 20 weeks of LMP is a likely indication that you have a big baby....when babies are big, they measure more weeks....his referring you for a scan is simply to confirm his measurements because the sonographer will also measure the baby and date the pregnancy based on the measurements he gets. So relax. It doesn't mean there is any problem that should warrant your not sleeping.

Palpitations are usually uncomfortable for me ooo, Infact painful sef angry

. Each time it's done on me in my clinic, I sweat right inside an A.C room and pee in my pants. I don't know why he would prescribe the antibiotics for you without sending you for tests, even if urinalysis to check if you have infection or inflammation if he is suspecting one.

The stomach tightening is called braxton hicks. It's your body's way of preparing for real contractions. I started having mine from 34weeks or so. Others have it earlier like you. If yours is too frequent and too close, you may need to time it and see in how many minutes interval it occurs . You may need to report to your clinic if it occurs in every 30minutes interval or so and gets slightly more painful.

I can't find that dates ooo in my neighbourhood. Pineapples too are very scarce. Haven't gone for walks for about 4days now because of extremely swollen legs. Will try it this evening. ...

BritneyStacy, for induction the contraction is continuous. You feel the pains till you deliver your baby. (I was induced as a FTM.)Unlike the contraction without induction that comes at time intervals. (I was a STM)

The fibroid is submucosa.
It means the fibroid is located in the center side but its not inside were baby grows however it shifted the place baby stays small.the result will probably be painful menstruation, abnormal bleeding atimes.
The good part it is not so big so it wont cause u so many problems.
If u have to go for family planning dont go for hormonal ones so the fibroid doesn't grow bigger.

No other complain oh. He pressed somewhere and i screamed out, after dat no pain again till now. Before then too, no pain at all.

Thanks mama. I had a very stressful day on Tuesday and twas coming as frequent as every 20-25 minutes, I timed. But it has since become less frequent like 2ice to thrice a day now.

I guess it's d stress that made it that frequent abi?

All the ones I've heard of are hormonal...

Condoms, withdrawal method, calculating safe period and IUDs.
Just that IUD may increase the amount of bleeding during your period and increase menstrual cramping.

Don't worry too much about the fibroids since they are small. They might not get bigger. It is well.

I tested positive 2-3 days before my period and the line was super faint. Yours would prolly get bolder by tomorrow.

I had something similar in the course of my pregnancy. I remember coming here to complain about having sharp pain on one particular spot in my belly. If you touch it, it hurts badly.
I did a scan and everything was fine. It turned out to be one of the few aches and pains we experience in pregnancy.
Or it couls have also been because of the small fibroid mass detected earlier in my pregnancy.

It might be nothing but do a scan to be sure. And please be careful of the meds you take. Ensure they are safe in pregnancy

Do you have a help that stays with your MIL when your child is in her house? You might want to revisit your arrangement .

Barrier method.basically condoms ,diaphragm, iucd.all dou i won't advise iucd becos ur endometrium where it will stay is already under pressure by d fibroid. So it might easily get displaced. Talk to ur doctor sha or midwife but insist on non hormonal method.or u can be local like me download ovulation timer app.monitor ur cycle.use condoms plus uda water on fertile days if u must get down. Then enjoy ursef raw on free days. That's how we do ours.hehehehehe.
