My questions are ( 1) can I go in with a phone, bag(containing my kids snacks, water and diaper)? 2) If I wont be allowed is there any place provided that you can keep your items? 3) is the Interview done sitted or standing? Your husband's family has demonstrated that they take short cuts. She went on a visit and changed her visa type. So that was her plan from the get go. If she had applied for a student visa, none of you would be in this jam.
Travelling to any other country makes no difference. Applying as a family also does not blot out the mar on the record of your family.

That is why applicants are advised to be have 'obi ocha' or a 'pure mind' in all their visa dealings. Now her sharp moves has cost your husband his visa. There is an assumption that he will do the same thing.
It is for him to overcome that assumption. How? I truly don't know.
I advise you to apply alone with your son. Go and return while your husband sorts out his ish

Have u ever been to stanbic head office? Or to a bank that has a high slab with bullet proof glasses separating you from the banker? Picture it. You stand and face the VO, same as how u face the cashier with a glass separating you guys, he has a mic so u can hear him and there's a hole under where u can slide in your documents. Sit ke? I laff small.
Every other person sits and faces the VO's and when its ur turn, you stand and go to them.
You can be allowed your bag with baby things but no phones are allowed in. You may have to find who to hold it for u

Long matter short, the assumption and punishment comes from a near conclusion that "Na Family Blood This Thing Dey"!

The "anty" seems not to even have the faintest idea of the weight of a B1/B2 visa adjustment to that of a student with the end aim of even getting an immigrant status however it happens last last. Hopefully "Sister Status Adjuster" isn't nipped in the bud early. "Zoking"!

Little advice: You sure will be better off going it all alone with the child for now as already suggested by LadyG

My sister in law husband works with the US embassy and I want to believe he is well enlightened cos he actually got his wife this student visa and in fact he is also on study in the US presently. in fact my parents in law got there visa immediately there daughter got her student visa and I want to also believe that if it was wrong she wouldn't have gotten approval for the student visa while in the US since she was on a visit.. which is why I'm confused what that has got to do with my own husband. although my husband has no travel history.

Don't mix up issues. The vo told him clearly whe he was refusing him. Travel history be set aside now.
Yes nobody is saying your BIL is not enlightened. But the issue is that each vo has the discretion to give or refuse. Your sil did not break any laws technically speaking. She just played 'smart' and that 'smart' vexed the vo today. First your sister in law, then her husband, then her brother wants to 'just visit' again. You are buttressing my point. Una don show them say na from A una dey enter B.

Nne if u don't get it, then forgerrit. Why don't u ask your brother in law what to do na?

Can you take a little time and actually verify the qualifications for dropbox on the website? Less than 5 minutes and less time than having to wait for people to answer you what a quick google search can answer you.

Will they have to go for an interview ? Yes. Must. Definitely. For sure.
With a parent accompanying them.
Will they be issued visas for sure? The VO only can reach that desicion

Can she send you a letter of invitation? Yes
Will you get a visa with no ties ? No
The visa officer only considers you and your situation in life and not who's inviting you. So if you know that you aren't doing well enough to afford a vacation to the US by yourself, then don't waste money. Your gf can come to Nigeria if she likes you that much

Tips that worked for me. Study this forum well, study your ds 160 well, do not lie, always make a sentence when asked a question don't just say yes or no, always related your answer to you returning back home, and finally pray pray pray
