Tell you, the barbing dey my mind seriously.
I think someone had suggested you run a biz on **hawo.. grin wink
I wouldn't mind having you beside me, though.
To be frank and sincere with you, I have two friends who both learnt barbing at the same time, they later saved up monet and separately rented shops in good location... Without exaggerating, the first one makes a minimum of 20k a week, while the other one make a minimum of 12k a week

Though, some jobs may look disgusting to many graduates but it will surely put food on your table

I don't understand most Nigerians. Why should you think that the goal of getting educated is always tied to monetary benefits? What about personal and mental development? Msc for me is very necessary for all graduates.
God bless your mental faculty.

There are many foolish folks on nairaland and Nigeria including majority of posters on this thread.

Masters is highly necessary for someone who has B.sc either M.Sc or MBA . Masters implies you understand both the application and the theoretical underpinnings in Ur discipline.

if Knowledge should be depicted like a tree:

B.sc is like branches which grow the leaves, M.sc is the stem while PhD is the root.

PhD takes you to the root of knowledge in Ur discipline and chosen area of specialisation and you keep exploring this root ( via research) in order to keep improving knowledge in Ur discipline.

Blind and Ill-educated Nigerians only see Money, Money, Money.... without giving due course to "knowledge" which is the source of money.

If you have B.Sc and M.Sc and you are still jobless definitely you can't defend your degrees prove your worth to employer as someone who has acquired the necessary education and skills to take the company/institution to the next level.

Shame on some blind folks on this thread .... keep complaining while many folks out there keep getting job daily.

If you don't know graduates, let me warn you, there are so many Nigerian UK grads in this country now already equipped with B.sc and M.sc taking over limited jobs because they are better oriented than us here.

So, as a Nigerian graduates from Nigerian Unis, you have to go extra miles in terms of academic, professional and other requisite skills like (communication, leadership, analytical etc) before employer will take you serious.

I have a cousin that grad with First class in Electrical Engineering from Unilorin, he cudnt get a job because he is poor in communication skills but bring any engine math/calculations , he is superb.

He discovered his weakness himself, now he is on his M.sc and ready to grab the world.

Go and work on yourself, find you errors and correct them, THERE are JOBS in Nigeria but with many graduates with such mentality as being portrayed on this thread .... Hmmm...

If you think you want to become a barber, tailor/fashion designer or whatever, yeah, you can go for it ... if you can grasp such trade more than higher education.

Advanced education is not meant for everybody while Barber is also not meant for everybody.

Falz the bahd guy is a law grad, mind you, he may be a better rapper/musician than a Lawyer .... whatever be the case, Falz is educated and his law skills acquired both in uni and law school will help him in his chosen trade.

Education is only meant to provide you with Knowledge, you can transfer and adapt your education to whatever trade you so chosen.

There is no problem if a microbiologist decided to adapt some theories in microbiology in Akara(bean cake) business or if an electrical engineering decided to venture into bakery business.

Knowledge is transferrable, the most important thing in life is more than money, success and fulfilment is key.

you spend 5-7m on masters in a foreign university. It's either the school has a bad ranking or you came out with a bad certificate or you do not know the right place to search for job. That's why you can only be jobless still.
That's a big lie bros. Know people with UK top rated schools certificate that are still hustling to get a job. Some are underemployed.

I took my time to read all the comments in this thread, and I can say categorically that Nigerian graduates are lopsided in their thinking. If you obtain a higher degree based on your own personal development, it is highly worthwhile. We should not forget the fact that the development of this county depends solely on the availability of cutting edge research and innovation tending toward solving potential problems. When a graduate of Elect/ Electronic Engineering was boasting of installing a CCTV camera as a skill to earn a living is totally illogical, because as an Engineer, you are not meant to install, but to create a process and system that will tackle emerging problems. Dangote is building refinery, I am wondering how many equipment will be designed and manufactured in Nigeria? As a Chemical Engineer, all what you were taught during your undergraduate cannot in anyway take you more than the level of switching on and switching off a machinery design by somebody in an environment that appreciate the important of Technology.

We are a graduate does not implied that we should confine ourselves only to Nigeria environment, I have some colleagues that we graduated together, they all went for Msc degree immediately after our degree, i can tell you, most of them can compete with any graduate favorably from anywhere in the world. They worked as an expatriate for multinational organization, like Fmc Technology in Netherlands,Chevron in USA, shell International and many more. While most of us that took a career in the banking industry are presently regretting our decisions. For your information, not all of them did their Postgraduate outside the country

I have seen a lot in the journey of life, If you know what you are doing, and you are focused, you can become an important personnel in any multinational organization, of course, I am not talking of switching on and off of machinery mentality of most Nigerian graduates. Please if you see any graduate who is curious and scrupulous to identify opportunity in graduate study, it is an highly rewarding decision. I am of the school of thought that, if Nigerian graduates are having this kind of lopsided mentality,we may not be able to reach any level of development in the next decade, and we will continue to import technology for the rest of our lifetime. Please, if you are convince, postgraduate study that is tending toward contributing to a better understanding will be better off for our emerging economy.

Thanks,

Olubukola

Do you think that you are making sense? I do not blame you but the system that is making you to run your mouth. Next time, do not just type gibberish. Get a job and master on it as if that is how it is easy to get it. Many have not gotten a job after graduating many years ago. Those of us that have gone for masters are still more relevant than them in the labour market.
anybody can get volunteer work
Your masters no add to your knowledge at all
