blueberryy: Sorry for this unnecessary bill, after I checked in on thursday, dint dilate after 2 citotech was administed I was asked by dr Cherion to go home by 9am friday. I called Alice and she said I will pay $840 if I check out but if I stay and add extra day after the normal hospital stay I will pay $450. Omo I chose to stay but dint still dilate upto Saturday then i had CS and my hospital stay expired on Sunday got discharged that same sunday. Always find out from the billing department before making decisions while in the hospital cos these doctors dont know how it works. 4 Likes |

nefertitiram: It will be wrong if u weren't improving tremendously. She check my scare, looked fine. Pooped and was up and about just barely 24hrs. If I wasnt okay then its wrong for me to be discharged. My belly is almost flat and this is just 2weeks after birth. Maybe I am superwoman sef. 7 Likes |

greatie:@bolded, God has you covered jare! I'm sure everything is awesome with you but I'm considering the practicality. 24hrs is too short a time to be sure everything is fine. BP has to be monitored, most especially. CS is a major surgery, there's a lot to monitor that's why hospitals keep you a day or 2 after, unlike VD. Where I had my baby, they keep you for 4 days, anything can go wrong in a flash! I've had 2 CS go fine and I was kept just for monitoring, even though I was bored stiff. Standard practice has a checklist for these things. I've seen cases of CS sites loosening within days. It's not just enough to look at it and boot you out after 24 hours. I still think it is unfair, morally and professionally wrong to have you out after 24hrs after CS. Even in 9ja, they keep you for up to 5 days. This is not exactly a great review, my opinion sha. 16 Likes |

Sometimes I really wonder if it's naija general Hospital being talked about our something else. Please we should try and do the needful and not be taking unnecessary risks trying to beat/cut costs. Unless not everything is been said here. The next thing u you know new mommas will start taking cue n be requesting discharge same day et al trying to form gangster and claim extremely low cost. Note that these guys know how to cover their tracks n I'm sure u must ve indemnify ursef one way or the other. We should be guided nefertitiram: 11 Likes |
Hello everyone, I had my baby a month ago at Methodist Sugarland and my dr was dr Robertson ( (she is with dr F). At 40.2 weeks I was feeling so much pressure so I called the dr who said I should go to the hospital, at the hospital the dr called the nurses to observe me for 2hrs( I was biled$1870 for that and also $175 to read the ultrasound that was done) after the 2 hr observation I was sent home that there was no patterned contraction. The next day the pressure increased and I had to go back to the hospital the nurses checked me and I was admitted at 3cm dilation, the next morning dr dama came to break my water and by noon at 6cm dilation a dr Nixon came and insisted on me taking pitocin and I said no at 2pm she insisted on the pitocin n I took it less than 2 mins after she came in to say the baby's heart beat has dropped and she needed to perform a cs. The baby was delivered at 2:22pm. In all of these my dr never called me once, she made me incur extra $1870 without any justification. I think dr F and his team are too busy and we all need to find alternatives. I incurred unnecessary cost just because they are new to methodist and they don't know how things work there. Please, if you are using methodist Sugarland try and pre register, ask questions about other associated cost and do not go there if you are not in Labour. Based on my recent experience I will not be using dr F's team for my next missionary journey.[/quote I know dollar is scarce and things are hard, but my people please lets think things through before we put our selves from frying pan to proper fire.to birth in USA is wonderful but this quest for the cheapest hospital and doctor is not proper. We have been advised to research for other doctors and people took it the wrong way. These recent experience is enough to support the call for research and teach us to change our approach and attitude towards this trip. American citizenship is great but not worth our lives. We all complain of poor care in Nigeria and cross seven seas and desert to gladly receive very poor and ridiculous attention. These doctors love cs. All of them with no exception. They are more comfortable performing cs than virginal birth and always in a hurry to induce when its clear that 90% of the time, its lead to complications. For people yet to deliver, pls if you meet a doctor and una spirit no gle or he is a hurry abeg find another one fast.and read reviews about ur hospital before you enter one chance. 8 Likes |

[quote author=TripleKMama post Even skilled midwives & their clever manouvre can deliver wit 6cm and 90% effacement. Mscheeww! I'm just very sad Very true. I gave birth to my first baby at 6cm. I said it and people were asking me made push at 6cm. The baby flew out of my body at the second push no intervention need. And those rogues are busy using pitocin and performing cs. All they are interested in is their pocket and reputation. Nonsense
|
I had my 1st baby in d uk and d 2nd in d US. Trust me, the care given in d US is very very money centred. So very compromised. Forget all d 'they were sweet n efficient' pple come to type here. Most are comparing to naija. I got a call a day after my antenatal dat doc has decided to induce me (thou twas at no xtra cost) I still called to speak to her to ask y d induction. And she clearly had no reason. Just said baby was ready to come out. I was 39wks and had bn 2cm dieted for abt a wk. But gud exercise cld ve made labour progress. But of course I was already tired n wanted to come back home so I agreed to d induction. US docs r quick to induce n give epidural. I didn't take epidural for dis birth cos it was used to do my 2nd degree stitches wiv my 1st in d uk n I absolutely hated hw it made me feel wen it was wearing off. But dy tried so hard to force it on me. Yes we cant compare health care but I can tell you that I ve had better experience in Nigeria than what people are seeing over there. There are good and bad hospitals everywhere.we also have excellent and experienced doctors here.we just need them to bring in more equipment and upgrade their knowledge. Am sure they don't treat citizens like that. Always forcing or "advising" induction or cs 1 Like |

Case in point. Somebody used a hospital. Was kind enough to post her costs. Now people just cannot use google to get an affiliated doctor, email and or call the doctors. U must use the verrrrrry same doctor she used. Why?! Hmm mm Missexiest will leave her baby and start sending emails to people and for people. Personally I find it a bit funny that folks drop their emails with their names in it on a PUBLIC FORUM. The alternative being to spend less than a day calling doctors. Oya o, make una pay me to call doctor and speak phune for una join 13 Likes |
[/quot I completely agree with you. There are a number of very good hospitals and Doctors in America and would surprise you how much you can negotiate with them when you're not part of the number. And this includes how much you can dictate what care you want. Infact all my friends who have birthed in US all used different hospitals and Doctor. It's the "follow follow"(couldn't find another word. No insult intended pls)syndrome that has led to the Houston wahala and Dr. F wahala. Spread out, make research....... 7 Likes |

nefertitiram:funny enough some Nigerians use the clinic o, because my sisters friend used it then, bill was like $20k for hospital alone. So overwhelming, as I was reading I saw the Kardashians use there too, even this doctor Sid's wife too used there, na who get money go use there |
