I was pleasantly amused when I saw the news headline caption "Emir of Kano blasts Jonathan over Palestine".Some Nigerian leaders have always had the tendency to be shortsighted, sentimental and over-emotional about delicate national issues. It is indeed interesting that such a high ranking political gladiator would overlook the implications of Nigeria's decision to support a free palestinian state,is it that our leaders are so blinded by religious sentiments that they cannot reason about the diplomatic permutations of such a strategic swing in foreign policy?.Granted,Nigeria had always supported a israeli-palestine two state resolution as a means to seemingly quell the crisis in the middle-east,but has that been a wise political perspective, considering our own ethnic and sectarian irregularities?. Interestingly, the highly controversial emir is making this statement at a time when renegade groups like the NDA(Niger Delta Avengers) and IPOB(Independent People Of Biafra) are both agitating for a secession across ethnic divides.Should we then say that Nigeria should split into splinter nations simply because some groups demand it?,I am quite sure that if this question were to be posed to the extremely talkative emir,he will disagree that Nigeria should disintegrate, despite contrary views from the affected groups. That brings the question: why support a free Palestine state and then turn around to oppose independent nations of Biafra and Niger Delta?.Is it that our Muslims are psychologically enslaved to Arabs who they see as Mohammed's kinsmen?,or is it that our leaders just like to jump into reckless actions without considering local implications?. The truth is,if Nigeria tells the UN to create a Palestinian nation amidst the crisis in the middle east, then what right does the government have to restrict that same scenario from occurring in its own domain?.Does the government consider that we will loose many foreign allies, chief of them Israel that has huge stake in our construction sector and that has always assisted us in our fight against terrorism by providing us with equipments and technical advice?,what of our many bilateral relationships, what does an independent Palestine have to offer in replacement for our severed ties with nations that matter if such a move come into fruition(which I highly doubt)?. Let our leaders not draw Nigeria into the murky politics of the middle-east,they should stop talking from two sides of their mouth. The best stance Nigeria can take on the matter of Israel-palestine crisis is absolute neutrality; which was a commendable decision by the last administration. Nigeria is a secular state, and it will not be used as a tool to satisfy a bunch of racist arabs simply because an emir believes he will please God by restoring an Islamic state instead of his own country. 16 Likes |

That has been the status quo of these ragheads in the North yet they are eager to deploy the military when a people within their own rights are calling for self determination. Well, in their skewed frame of mind they are first pro Islamic agenda , Nigeria comes second in their mind and the only time they are patriotic Nigerians is usually when access to the black gold in the backyard of the Niger Delta is being threatened . Talk about blind stinking hypocrisy . 19 Likes 1 Share |

Why must you bring religion into everything What's wrong with his call.Don't they also exist other secular nations supporting the establishment of a palestinian state. |

Nigeria just need to be neutral on the Israeli-Palestinian issue. I don't think its any of our problems at this time. A 2 state solution has been sought but the trivial issue of the status of Jerusalem is what is beyond everyone, its Israel eternal capital and Arabs religious holiest site, this singular issue is at the fulcrum of global crises. The Israelis believe anyone that removes them from their inheritance will be plagued by unknown disease and that happened to Ariel Sharon when he ceded the Gaza strip. if Nigeria takes side ,history may not be kind to us.Even Turkey, a majorly Muslim country relate with Israel and just restored diplomatic relations after the Flotilla issue. Sanusi should face his Emirate as that desire may be far fetched . The only thing that is of interest in the middle East is what the map will look like after Syrian and Yemini wars which have been termed as Iran's proxy wars. I feel that moved USA into backing some Sunni rebels against ISIL. Nigeria shouldn't just go there at all even Nelson Mandela refused to mediate for them. 7 Likes |

From the way these people are going; Nigeria will soon become an Islamic state and hotbed for terrorists and terrorism. First it was Buhari that called for their independence at the UN, now emir Sanusi. These people seem to have a sinister religious agenda and it is time we begin to take FFK serious when he talks about them. Some months back Sheikh Zakzaky and his followers were maimed and gunned down by the instruments of state simply because they are shiites while Buhari and his people are Sunni. We are watching. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

DIKEnaWAR:If only more Nigerians were properly educated . Buhari will never see the seat of power. You can give all that power to an unrepentant Islamic fundamentalist and expect him not to habor the idea of total Islamization of the country or at least bring into this country all the proxy wars between Israel and the Arab world . But again did you see how the Americans kept quiet over the massacre of zakzaky's followers by the Nigerian military ? 5 Likes 3 Shares |

Truckpusher: I have been watching events since Buhari took over and the attendant conspiracy of silence is worrisome. About America keeping quiet; I just believe it is due to Obama's limited knowledge of foreign affairs or lack of interest in Africa and her affairs. I am very sure that should Clinton win, America would make more pronouncements concerning us and people like Obj will find his voice. He can't say anything now cos he knows Buhari will hunt him down. Hillary is a friend of Nigeria and well versed in Nigeria affairs. It is a pity that with the silence of voices like Prof Wole Soyinka and his cohorts, we the ordinary people that have been shouting, have to pray foreign governments join us in liberating us from this self- imposed retrogression and dictatorship. 1 Like |

The dumb Emir thinks that Palestinian Hamas will send in Al Qassan Brigade to fight Boko Haram while the AIPAC will close shop in the US congress. When a man wakes up in Sudan studying Islamic studies, how do you expect him to reason? |
Re: Response To Emir Sanusi's Call For Nigeria To Support Palestine by jpphilips(m): 9:21am On Aug 16, 2016 |
DIKEnaWAR: You want America to get involved in El zakzaky's issue to what end? You have limited knowledge of how it plays on the global stage, the only country that will speak for him is the religious fundamentals he represents ie Iran and Iran has spoken. Maybe when you understand what American foreign policy says about Iran then you will stop hoping on El zakzaky's release. |
