MINISTER OF TRANSPORTATION, CHIBUIKE AMAECHI (L) EXCHANGING A SIGNED AGREEMENT FOR THE COMPLETION OF WARRI-ALADJA- ITAPKE-AJAOKUTA-BARO-ABUJA (CENTRAL) RAILWAY LINE WITH THE VICE PRESIDENT, CHINESE RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY (CRCC), CHEN XIAO XING (2ND-L) 5658/12/8/2016/BJO/NAN

The Federal Government on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) on the completion of Warri-Ajaokuta-Itakpe-Baro-Abuja railway line.

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, signed the agreement on behalf of the Federal Government while Chen Xiao Xing, Vice President of CRCC, signed for the company in Abuja.

Amaechi said that the central railway line was the backbone of rail transportation in Nigeria, adding that the agreement was for its completion and extension to Warri town, port and refinery.

He said the rail would extend northward from Eganyi-Jakura-Baro to Abuja.

The minister said the agreement included the construction and expansion of Warri Port, Deep Sea Port as well as the Industrial Park at Bonny Island.

“The central line is one of the most important rail lines that we have in Nigeria and I will be glad if we can partner with your corporation; we will commence negotiation once we get the approval from the president. It is part of the economic corridor in Nigeria where we have solid minerals, we have been working on that line for a long time and we will like to complete it,” Amaechi said.

Earlier, Xing said that it was a privilege to sign the agreement on the rail project.

He said that for Nigeria’s economy to grow, it must reduce importation and focus on industrialization which would lead to economic and social development.

“It is a privilege to be here again with the Minister of Transportation to sign MoU of this Ajaokuta – Abuja rail line, extending from Aladja to Warri Port, which was built 30 years ago but was not operational.

For Nigeria’s economy to take-off, it must reduce importation because industrialisation is very important for economic and social development.

If this project is completed in three years, other industries will develop,” said the CRCC boss.

He described Nigeria and China as strategic partners.

Good news.

I have the utmost confidence in this government.
The government would have performed better had it been they didn't start everything in a very slow pace. Appointment of ministers; problem. Their economic team and policies; another problem. Passing of budget and implementing it; problem. Solving the Niger/delta crisis; problem.

A government that is serious about getting investors and investments in the country won't have wasted anytime to appoint its ambassadors. Note; I'm not saying ambassadors are the ones that solely bring investors/investments into a country, but not appointing your ambassadors on time will only send a negative message about how unserious your government is.

I know buhari means well for the nation, I know he wants Nigeria to work, I also know he inherited a sick economy from his predecessor, but his policies aren't helping him to deliver his change promise. But some of us can only pray and hope for things to get better, and for president buhari to get his acts and priorities right.

Only few Nigeria will see the way you enumerated. Most of prefer share the money now and let our children suffer later. As for his policies, they seems harsh because we do not enough financial base to Cushing the effect, compared to what we had during Yar'udua 's time, whem OBJ left $45billion in our reserve.
Have a blessed day.

The only thing positive about Amaechi as a Minister of Transport is that he is continuing with the projects he met on ground, carrying them to completion phase.
Governance is a continum.

Too bad the SS leaders/people have not woken up from their slumber till now. Any party, like PDP, with their son, Jonathan, raped them shamelessly before the Nigerian public, yet, they won't stone them if they come to ask for their votes in any elections' time.
