Nigeria Air Force Launched aerial patrol of the Abuja-Kaduna Highway yesterday, including Minna and environs.

The joint patrol, incorporating surface elements from the Nigerian Army, Police and Federal Road Safety Commission, is aimed at checkmating criminal activities along major highways within the North West which of recent has witnessed increased cases of criminalities such as cattle rustling, kidnapping and armed robbery.

Other major routes covered by the aerial patrol include the Abuja metropolis, Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road and the Falgore Forest.

Aside undertaking aerial surveillance, the NAF is also providing ground troops that would operate alongside the surface elements.


Flagging-off the aerial patrol today in Abuja, the Air Officer Commanding Training Kaduna, Air Vice Marshal Nurudeen Balogun said that
“the NAF will be providing real time intelligence from the air, and reinforcement where necessary, to aid the operation of the surface elements”.

Everybody institution is sitting up and quietly doing their work, no more money sharing and awarding fititious contracts.
The other day DPR called me that the license of two of my petrol stations are ready I should pick them up at their office.
I thought I was dreaming, DPR that it takes you more than 6 months to process a 1 year license and another six month to get it after you've payed bribes here and there, are the ones calling me to pick up my license just after 2 months of application. This is indeed change.

Militarily,Nigeria has really come a long way from the days of GEJ.
The army,navy and air force are now looking like formidable military outfits,worthy of Nigeria's size.
Wish that the air force can be upgraded further with high class fighter jets, to place it as one of the most modern and formidable in Africa.

They are scanning criminal hideouts from the air. Those places where kidnappers keep their hostages.

These are ground attack helicopters. They are focused on intercepting ground vehicles and " disabling" them and their occupants. They are not focused on air borne threats. If someone fires a missile from the ground for instance, they need to set up and dismantle the device afterwards. Meanwhile ISR planes can identify the location from which the missile was fired while helicopters take it out.

Does Nigeria have ISR planes? Answer is yes.

The entire set up will include far more than helicopters.

Its called aerial surveillance! It means watching wat is happening on ground from above, nobody is attacking from d air.
The rate of robbery on that route is alarming that is why the air force are at it.
It suppose to be d work of police but those ones never collect ogunje from motorists finish.
