As a regular driver on the road. Do you drive with your original driver's license in your pocket, even when you have a laminated photocopy with you? Or you drop it at home? Assuming you have it in your pocket and you did not commit any offense and your documents are complete; but your instinct tells you that this police team or even road safety officials want to extort money from you. You will give it to them abi?
Because they 'v checked your vehicle and have not told you of your offense but insist that you submit your original Driver's License, which is unusual though.
But again what if you left it at home, what do you do, as they may brand they photocopy as fake.
In the light of this, do you drive with it or leave it at home for fear of losing it to day to day hustling?

It's save to drive with coloured photocopy of ur license.
Reson: it could get lost /stolen. If this happens, with this new process of obtaining a fresh drivers license now and ofcourse the cost,it won't be funny. In my work with MVAA, i have come across a lot people who lost their license and couldn't provide a copy of it and being that you can't renew without your license no, they had to apply as freshers.
If they doubt your license being original, they could easily check it using your license no and date of birth on it.

If you commit any other crime like expired tyre, failure to fasten your seat belt, absence of caution sign & others then you have to tender your original license, pick the license up in their office when you clear your fine other wise, they will thow your car cos no license to hold on.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Thanks to God that my private jet liner (my trusted legs) need no driving licence. The license is the sexy face if you don see that you go know say na the head get the legs true true.

You said it all especially the vital reasons

I don't see any reason why you should be driving with your original drivers licence... Make a photocopy and keep the original in a safe place preferable at your house to avoid the case of theft or lost of it.


In the case of FRSC, Police or VIO, harassment, please refer them to the Licence Number on the copy.. Remember don't panic because they asked for the original just told them that you have the original and moreover, it is not a law that you carry ur original drivers licence.
