Thank you very much. Is bonds a better option to Tbils then? Yeah the 5.5% pa she qouted is for fixed deposit, so do you mean their rates on fixed deposit could even be over 15.

Thanks

it depend on the amount they use ranges 1 to 3,million like that but with the cost of money is already 18 percent why, will u fix at 5.5 and, still get tax double robber u,just getting 5,percent,since they pay at end of,term..bond is best for, long, term more, stable if u lock ur,funds in,bond u will be paid interest semi annually till maturity, like 15.54 even if rate, drop to 4 percent, like, last year, treasury bill u,will enjoy the, rate, till end
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 2:27pm On Aug 14, 2016
Expect u,sell before maturity it might be,16,percent,then or,less than 15.54 the issuing rate..that what bond trader live on ...if na 10 milla,u,have 1.54 m annually paid into,ur,account for,five year then,u fix,the,gain in gtb,for 10 percent,or,buy,tb with u,interested ever six months good,bussiness buy,on,fgn bond,at,auction with duration,of,5,yrs

ok using, phone .if u buy bond for eg 10 m @15.54 for 2020 ,u will be paid 1.54m annually for 4 years.the payment is split into two paid ever sixmonths 770k ever six months till 2020 your capital will credit back to your account......but u can sell in bond market if u cant wait till maturity 2020....rate go up and down like share but if u dont want any loss keep till maturity but sell went rate go up

I had loads of petty charges on my TBIlls by Ecobank, it totaled to about N10k, vat, custodian charges etc.
I am leaving them after my 364 tenor. I am investing this week!!! So, I pray their recommended stop rates make loads of sense.

nawa oo... This Ecobank na one chance. That was how they didn't allow my bid through, so also gtb. Why am I in between two I'm competent bank.

I can't imagine moving money around for this harsh economy. God dey Sha

Let me try to punctuate it differently and see if it will be better.

5.5? That's armed robbery! Been with GTB for4 years, rate are over 15[%]. The investment banking is in same place as any branch, just ask [for the] investment section, write an application which is forwarded to Head Office. [You] can scan and send to [your] account officer. Buy bond if u will not be around for long. 15.54[%], by the time [you,re] back [your] fund go be almost double in 5yrs. It is zero risk, less risky, than fixed deposit. Banks can go under.

@ Alikote, feelamong and other gurus in the house; My question now is: Will the re-opening FGN Bonds auctioning on the 17th of this month still be at 15.54% for 2012.
Seeing the table below from DMO does not state the percentage for the reopened 2012 bid

Bond Name % FGN JUL 2021 (Re-opening) 12.50% FGN JAN 2026 (Re-opening) 12.40% FGN MAR 2036 (Re-opening)
Term-To-Maturity 4 Years, 11 Months 9 Years, 5 Months 19 Years, 7 Months
Range of Amount on Offer (N' bil) 35-45 25-35 35-45
Original Tenor 5-Year 10-Year 20-year

@ oga feelamong other gurus in the house according to the CBN calender the window won't be open to take bids for the 344days tenor...how true is that?

To the gurus in the house who use GTB for their Treasury bills bidding, how does GTB do it, do they debit you before the bidding day?
I gave my account officer an instruction on friday, am yet to see a lien or debit on my account. Should I be worried or this is the way it is. I cant afford to wait another 2 weeks due to a sloppy account officer.

Also any hint or hw the rate for this bidding will be like?

Dont mistake Coupon with the Yield...

The coupon remains the same at 15.54%

Its the yield that changes based on the prevailing Liquidity, Interest rates and Inflation Rates.

The Yields at Reopening would be based on the prevailing Investment climate...the Coupon remins the same..

This is why Bond traders make a lot of money trading on Bonds as you could buy at a premium or at a discount (They also loose money trading on Bonds) if they do not hold to maturity

The July 2021 5-year bond closed at 14.5% when it opened last month. I.e. It is a 14.5% JUL 2021 bond.

There is another 15.54% FEB 2020 bond. That is not listed to be reopened at the next bond auctions.

@feelamong pls if any of the bank or security house you use have suggested any rate for you please help me with it here. I would have dropped my request today and go with the stanbicibtc bid rate as I usually do but I had to change my mind because of the blow I got from them in the last auction. Their 91 days bid was not successful and the solution they could come up with was that I should take 12% from their secondary market but I was not satisfied with that so I want to bid for myself this time...
