Sometimes one wonders why the Almighty decided to create a country called NIGERIA.... Imagine some old men taking it upon themselves to decide the destiny of students in the coming year

We have two options, either we kidnap the minister of education and beat him to a pulp till he comes to his senses..

Or we pray that Jesus comes before 2morow...so that we say goodbye to education. angry

Anyways... I believe everything will work out for good in the end. Let's keep our calm.

It is a pity, a very big one, that MANY intelligent students will be denied admission this year due to a useless and very stuppid policy purported by the powers that be, who unfortunately, know nothing about what an ideal system of education ought to look like.

Not ruling out the fact that there are intelligent students out there in plentiful numbers, who write both jamb and WAEC themselves and hit impressive benchmarks, but we all know the majority of students who come out fly with wowing grades, sadly, are your below average Sikiru who with the right amount of cash, can buy any score of choice.

This is a well known fact, but alas, the people in charge of Nigeria are just sstupid or maybe ignorant, so these same pot bellied demons, sat round a conference table over a can of bottled water and doughnut, then decided the best way to shatter the dreams of many youths and plunge our already failing education system deeper into the abyss, is to admit students based on an obviously flawed system. I weep!

I wish every aspirant Goodluck in this "luck-based" system of admission as our educational system transcends into darker ages.
I sincerely believe that malpractice will be on the rise. GOD all I have is u

Man! Mallam Adamu just woke up one morning to scrap post-utme exams. Perhaps a nice development. Regardless, I'm still of the opinion that it was a knee-jerk decision.

I do not think it was in the interest of the students. No. If it were, students wouldn't be perturbed by now, JAMB wouldn't be perplexed ( its Admission postings implies so), and the minister himself wouldn't be talking with both sides of his mouth -- the same minister who initially said not a dime should be charged for the post-utme screening later endorsed a two thousand, five hundred Naira fee.

I thought his major reason for scrapping the Test was that, schools used it as a means of extortion from prospective students? Why did he go back on his word? Someone is disorientated.

The ban on post-utme exams will only exacerbate rather than ameliorate the situation. This is no corruption curbing.

The rate at which RUNS are done will catapult back to its initial apex. I am sure that 'runs merchants' and scam artistes would have been elated by the news of the ban -- more clients for them. Weak students who didn't have rattling good O-level results will seek out these 'runs merchants' to help shroud their flaws in good grades. More and more desperate prospective students will fall victim to scam artistes.

Therefore, for now, the point system is not a good method to adopt. This is owing to the fact that O-level results are easily manufactured at 'miracle centres' after a deposition of meagre kickbacks by weak candidates. There is no saying that students who used RUNS to make very good grades won't have an upper hand in getting admitted vis-a-vis those who burnt the midnight candle and consiquently made 'acceptable grades'. Until the loopholes in WAEC and other O-level exams are patched, the point sytem should be totally eschewed.

With the commencement of the cbt, JAMB stepped up its game. The exam governing body should probably be showered with encomiums and accolades; However, we should have in mind that the whole process still wavers. There are complaints that are yet to be addressed by JAMB: systems shutting down, sytems logging out, excrutiating network (in some centres), etc. Prof. Dibu and his staff are not there, yet.

The post-utme tests, for now, is the best way to screen students. It isn't foolproof, but it is close to perfect. What the minister should have scrapped is the outrageous fee charged by some schools just to screen prospective students.
