Thanks bro, seen your reply. I'm very grateful for this. I hope it'll be my last attempt.

So, what occupation are you planning to nominate?
Have you written your CDR? Or do you have any good sample CDR, I need to start mine. So, wanna do it right first time.

Hello Everyone,

I need some clarifications here and I would appreciate if someone can help shed more light on it.

I just got a BEng Honors degree from a UK university and I want to fire that on Washington Accord Pathway for Engineers Australia for the Skill Assessment, but I don't know if I can also claim point for my 5yrs experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in my current organization with my HND gotten here in Nigeria since 2010.

Anyone who has an idea should please advise as I don't want to waste any money for trying to claim point they won't give.

I know they can't deny me the 15 point for recognized education but the work experience is something am not sure of. I know another option is getting band 8 for the IETLS but If I can claim the years of experience then I would have to fire on with my band 7.

Please advise...anyoneeeeeee

Cheers!!!

For your English test preparation, pls see material below:

I m nominating Electrical /electronics Engineering. One of the 2, depending on my cdr.
What occupation do you intend to go for?
For cdr writing, try "expat forum australia" for more help and detailed info there. Google australia expat forum. Its a forum basically for intending migrants, so specific issues such as these are tackled there. You ll see lots of people who have gotten PR there and how they raked their 20 points.

Thanks, I'm already a member of Expat Forum and started my Australia journey there. I never cared to search for CDR there coz I wasn't expecting I'll need it coz I thought with my UK Msc, I can use Washington Accord. But thanks to Nairaland.com I'm now on the right track.

I'll be nominating Chemical Engineering.

Have you made any headway in your dollars pursuit now?? I am also having same challenge and the big problem is that banks would decline any PTA applicaion on a one-way ticket. Anyone with ideas of how one can raise forex should kindly share.
catchdwind4rmkd:

N205k as at 29th June 2016, and the ticket shows $(USD)911.
I checked the fare for that itenary online and it's N601k on wakanow.com and $(USD)1,608 on Emirates.com.
So, like I said, with the current value of the Naira, I can say I made a good saving. I wish they had similarly scheme for one to obtain the dollars coz that's the next thing giving me sleepless nights, lol. My once very huge budget has now become a CHANGE in USD.

Hmmmm,
I gave up on PTA immediately after the floating (devaluation) of the naira. From my analysis, a one-way ticket from OIM and purchasing dollars at parallel market rate was better than a return ticket and purchasing dollars via PTA. And as u rightly said, PTA is almost impossible to get. I've decided to manage whatever I've.
But I'll be happy to know any better alternative you come up with.
Thanks

A simple look at the two options you have:

Option (1) Assess BSc = 15 points
No work experience = 0 points
Total = 15 points

Option (2) Assess HND = 10 points
5 years work experience = 10 points
Total = 20 points

If you add points for age and English, you are most likely to be better off with option 2.

Click on this link to use a point calculator. All the options are there for you to play with. Good luck!

Bro,

Thanks alot for the huge relief, now I get it... So are you suggesting I go through the CDR pathway and assess only my HND and forget about the BSC? or how does it really works?

Cheers!!

Bro,

Thanks for the analysis, it's well taken and appreciated.

I was actually thinking I can assess the BSC and get the 15 point no doubt but for the skill assessment I thought it will be possible to just assess it under Engineering technologist instead of assessing it through Mechanical Engineer.

Is this not possible? I was just thinking, shed more light please if you have different opinion.

BSC for recognized qualification but Engineering technologist for skill assessment. As anyone done this before?

Cheers!!!

you can try moneygram and western union from several trusted people to trusted persons abroad who would subsequently send the money to your australian bank account ( i assume you already have a NAB account). Although the rate moneygram is better than western union.

If you choose to assess your BSc which you got in 2016, any experience you have before 2016 will not be considered by EA for assessment. The choice is yours.

Hi catchdwind,
Do i need to do the CDR if I am not claiming points for employment? Also do I need to assess both the UK MSc and naija BSc with engineers Australia? Merci

For as much as your undergraduate degree is obtained in Nigeria, you must do your CDR whether you're claiming points for employment or not. This is because the Migration Skills Assessment (MSA) is primarily based on your undergraduate degree.

Also, I don't think you can assess your employment skills without assessing your educational qualifications. The reverse is only possible; i.e. you can assess your education without assessing work skills but NOT vice-versa.

Finally, though the MSA is based on first degree, Engineers Australia (EA) requires information and evidence of all further learning. Your MSC is assessed in combination with your first degree at no extra cost. Extra cost is applied only when assessing a PhD. To be clear, you don't have to assess both of your degrees, what's important is your BSC. But you don't lose anything in submitting both for assessment since it's done at the same fee. Personally, I feel your MSC will be an added advantage. Besides, you'll still list it in your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) if applicable.

Best Wishes

Now getting the Australian visa is quite easy from here,so would you advise me to go aheard or Pursue Canada?
Hello I saw your post, please I want to relocate to Australia... Please where and how can I start

No.
I got a Skilled Recognised Graduate Temporary Visa ( Subclass 476). It's valid for 18 months from date of 1st entry to Oz.
I didn't know much about the Skilled Independent Visa when I applied for mine. But now that I'm aware, Subclass 189 is in view; I'll need to get good IELTS score coz I need the 20 points to meet the minimum score for Skilled Independent Visa.

I'm an Engineering graduate (BEng in Chemical Engineering and MSc in Drilling Engineering).

I applied in January, 2016 and got it in March, 2016.

Best Wishes
Pls I'm interested, put me through.... I'm a graduate of Accounting... Please assist me...

Hello everyone, please I need clarification on an issue, I am a PR applicant with two different professional background, let's say agriculture and customer service,
I nominated agriculture based on correlation with my degree and result was positive, on getting to Australia, can I mention my experience in customer service if I find a similar role?, will employers request for my skill assessment certificate before recruitment? Noting that it doesn't say anything about customer service, or will my employment documents from Nigeria be enough to prove my experience, please educate me.
Thank you

Your question is a strong one... lol. Let me try to help... Honestly, Your First Step should be;

1. Go online(google precisely), Find schools that offer your desired course and compare tuition.

2. Next step is figure out your financial capacity

3. Decide if you can begin the application process and join the australia Visa general enquiries thread for more relevant information.

4. FYI Masters programs aren't so cheap (i may be wrong, depending on your findings), other options are coming via PR or find a TAFE course.

The Summary is you hold the key to any information you want if you can spare yourself some time to do a proper research on what you want online.

The next questions you may want to ask me will actually give me a clear indication of what research you did after reading this post. Cheers Dear, All the best and God bless

Sorry for the delay in replying to your post. However, the 476 visa is for recent ENGINEERING graduates below 32yrs of age. Hence, you're not eligible to apply with your accounting degree.

Once you get your PR, you're not restricted to work in any specific occupation. For as much as you've the required skills set and qualifications for any role, you can apply for that role. Employers don't have to review your skills assessment. Your resume, credentials and other relevant documents will suffice.

Hello,
From your post, it seems you hardly receive feedback.
Well, I think you post on the wrong threads. The title of the thread gives you an idea the sort of information participants can provide. I happen to have used thus thread before that's why I was notified of your post.

For instance, this thread is mainly to locate Nigerians in Australia which is aimed at guiding interested migrants to arrive at cities where they can feel at home by meeting other country men. You don't expect to get high traffic of people concerned about PR to this thread. You don't also expect students to know the required information about PR, so using the thread for Australian Students won't help either.

Please follow the thread below and start reading from the first page for detailed information on PR:

Thanks for the link, I actually posted here deliberately cos I was targeting ppl who are living and working in Australia already for first hand information, though I also posted on the other thread, I believe ppl who are already in the system will be able to provide information on Australian employment processes better than new immigrants, many thanks for taking time to repond to me.
Cheers
