Team Nigeria’s Ese Brume is through to the final of the women’s long jump event at the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympics.

Brume, the only African in the final, qualified as the sixth best jumper with a leap of 6.67m. The reigning Commonwealth Champion will hope she can ruffle feathers for a possible podium finish.

The Women’s Long Jump final is fixed for 9.15 p.m. Brazil time, about 1.15 a.m. on Thursday in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, it was another bad day for Blessing Okagbare as she failed to make it beyond the semi finals of the 200m event.

Okagbare, who had also crashed out in the semi final of the 100m, finished 5th in her 200m semi final race and her time of 22.69 could not earn her a final ticket.

The only hope for a medal for Okagbare now lies in the 4x100m where the country faces an uphill task against the likes of Jamaica and USA.

There was more disappointment for Nigeria on the tracks where the country’s hope for a place in the men’s 110m hurdles finals evaporated with the last place finish of Antwon Hicks in his semi final race.

Nigeria will hope her athletes get it right on Wednesday as Tobi Amusan will be competing in the 100m hurdles semi final while the final comes up hours later.

Also Divine Oduduru will be racing alongside Usain Bolt in one of the two men’s semi final races. The race is fixed for 2 a.m. Thursday morning.

they are all doing their best for the nation and you are here trying to criticize and cause rift between them. Nigeria even deserves worst from these athletes because of the insensitive and botched administration of the sports ministry. And considering the fact that she is married now, she might not be able to give her best in the world of sports. And the Sports ministry should be blamed also for failing to produce vibrant youngsters to replace her.

Yes, In Nigeria, you find athletes featuring in Olympics for the sixth time, Out of 160millions+. what is the sports ministry doing to discover and build talented individuals for replacements? Nothing! and yet they keep hoping to win medals.

You're right, but it doesn't negates the fact that she's over hyped... The young man above you, never said that she did not give her best, but what he meant is that she's being overrated. Despite her form prior to London 2012, no medal to show.

I understood, even if she is overrated, what should we be saying at this time?

Imagine she decides to surf the net and views this thread and sees such libelous comments from Nigerian fans that suppose to be cheering and encouraging her. Will you be delighted if you are in her shoes?

the British are condemning the immense monetary amount spent on procuring the services of Pogba and yet they were mute on the immense amount spent on Sterling from Liverpool to man city.

let us learn to appreciate our own, not detract them.
