John Obi Mikel is arguably one of the most enigmatic players to grace the Premier League.

The Nigerian midfielder bewilders many for his relative anonymity in most games he plays for Chelsea, and for his seemingly pathalogical inability to shoot or score.

He’s been at Chelsea for 10 years now, and it’s hard to recall a particularly brilliant game the defensive midfielder has ever had.

However, while he may never be prolific on the pitch, he may have belatedly found his true calling on social media.

He’s only tweeted 40 times, but he’s shown he’s capable of surprisingly good stuff despite the low activity.

Last week, the midfielder ruined Paul Pogba with a brilliant welcome back to the Premier League on Twitter, and he followed that up with more good form today.

Ahead of Nigeria’s Olympics semi-final against Germany in Brazil this evening, Mikel took to Twitter to rouse some inspiration inside him.

Posting a picture of himself beating Toni Kroos to the ball in the 2012 Champions League final, Mikel reminded his followers that he has good memories of facing Germans, highlighting how he played and starred in that victorious final for Chelsea.

Nigeria lost 2-0 today, but that shouldn’t take from Mikel’s good banter.
