Ilorin of old is divided into quarters i.e. Yorubas quarters, Hausa/Gobir quarters, Fulani quarters, Kanuri, Nupes and other tribes quarters.

Igbo's problem is many. The system of governance that the colonials installed here is compatible with that customarily practiced by Yoruba and Hausa and so these two found it easy to merge in and continue, till today. The structure in that system is heirarchical with authotity cascading down from top to bottom. Unfortunately that system is apathetic to the custapathetradition of Igbo society where each community is its own autonomous authority and recognizes no else above it. In fact each community sees other nearby communities of similar language and roots as foreigners. This is why Anambra sees Enugu as foreigners and question their presence in Anambraland. So they are totally amazed and confused and is intriguing to them that a man from Ogun state would be commissioner in Oyo state or a Lagos man is vommissioner in Ekiti state. Why does a Lagos man call thr man ftom Ilorin his brother, why is a man from Kogi made chief in Lagos? Igbo people see their land, uncibilized and backward as it is as the model by which civilizrd and advanced cities should be structured. Oyo man should be a stranger in Lagos.

I have the opportunity to travel to at least 25 states out of the whole 36 states of Nigeria. I am an Ibadan man and a Geologist by profession. No other professionals travel as we do. That aside, during my different field works to the north central and Niger Delta, I find out that Yoruba territories cut across political borders. Just recently we traverse Kogi state, to my surprise, there is a village called Oyo close to Obajana. Obajana itself is an Okun town (which are Yorubas). On your way to Objana you will find a statue of a farmer (possibly the founder of that town) in Yoruba regalia. They speak a dialect of Yoruba, if you listen them carefully, you will understand what they mean. Kabba is also a Yoruba town.
To the NigerDelta, I was opportuned to visit Ozanagogo, a village not far from Nkuzu in Delta state. The title of their King is Oba, with his dressing resembling that of Owo and Benin Kingdoms, which of Yoruba descendants. As we got to the village, the King all his Chieves to come and welcome their kinsmen (note kinsmen). He ordered his wives to prepare our super and give us rooms to sleep till the following day. That he told us they are Yoruba descendant and told us how they journeyed to their present location.

Ozanogogo is not a Yoruba land. They speak language similar to Benin. Oza is not too far from Agbor. We actually drilled at their market square. After several attempts by other firms.
To the west of western Nigeria, Yoruba extends to Dahomey through Togo.
