Unfortunately I don't. The countries I am most conversant with (education wise) are the US, Germany, and Canada. I think @standupguy is probably an expert at Aussie stuff although he mentioned that the new proof of funding requirements are a bit more stringent than when he applied for his visa. I cursorily read about it and it seems you need to show a lot of funds, but I don't know the detail sha. The Australian student visa thread may help. Cheers bro. michV: |

michV: michV, Concordia university is in Quebec WC is French speaking province of Canada. Settling in Quebec after your program maybe somehow unless you can speak French. I will advice you to apply to university of British Columbia, its application fee free for now. You have nothing to loose they won't even ask for your original transcript until you are admitted. Also try ryerson and western university, they do admit students with 3.5 cgpa for their meng program. Ottawa is good too but they may ask for English Test if you have graduated for like 3 years. All the best. |

metrecube:Thanks bro, inclusive of Concordia which i ll take off as an exception from your advise, those other schools i have been on Google going through,is MEng in western university a 1years program cos i am seeing 2years? i guess i ll firstly apply to UBC but i didn't see Nigeria on the list of undeveloped countries for application fee exemption?also i think university of Saskatchewan takes 3.5+ too for MEng but i don't know the study duration though i have mailed them waiting for response 2 Likes |

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 10 by metrecube(m): 11:30pm On Aug 19, 2016 |
michV:UBC is application fee free. You will be exempted to pay when you reach payment stage. Meng in western is two years but you can complete it in 3 semesters if you want to. Don't disturb yourself about the duration, even if you secured a year program you can apply to any college for another a year program to secure your 3 years pgwp when you gets to Canada. Saskatchewan is good too. low tuition, good province for PR. |

The thing to keep in mind though is that you don't have to settle in Quebec even if you go to school there. Additionally, Montreal is inexpensive (given its size) and is one of the best places in North America for a young person to live in. I'll say flat out that it's my favorite North American city. Additionally Montreal is a fully bilingual city so it's not like you'll be lost if you can't speak French although I do agree that learning some French would be of importance if you want to eventually settle there. I was there for a week last month, and I have some friends there. Vancouver is extremely beautiful and is also a fantastic place BUT the cost of living is extremely high!!!! Like, very very very expensive on average. Just FYI. But as I mentioned earlier, you don't have to settle down in the city you go to school in. @MichV pls keep these factors in mind. metrecube: 3 Likes |

Totally agree. The Germany thread is also amazing. The US student visa thread for some reason is full of a lot of fluff... its signal to noise ratio is very low though there's some really good info there too. michV: 1 Like |

Kisstaye..I don't bitch...never even mentioned anything about my app on this thread. Despite my being chill, it must be accepted this process is sorta flawed. When the website tells people 12weeks and then people are still chilling 17weeks on with no medical call and some are approved/denied in 6-8 weeks? That extent of variance is not acceptable anywhere. I'm no lawyer but there is a duty of trust established when I'm told my application will processed within a particular period, should the process exceed the given time, that constitutes a tort especially because money has exchanged hands. Being a project manager and a time person, I have seen how time can be cheap and also very costly. Barring the event of a late application, yes it is victimization to not have given an international applicant his/her judgement 2weeks from the beginning of the intended program. So many things to consider, ticket, accommodation, ample time to resign from work, sell off stuff, buy warm weather clothing and shoes etc.... The fact that we want to enter their country to study does not licence them to play God and process applications according to 'discretion' while abandoning the checklist of requirements demanded from us during submission. 3 Likes |

Olargee:CIC will Neva change. This is what they do every fall. To me its not a new thing. It maybe because they have enormous applications to deal with. All will be well. |

michV:You want to play ijebu. why not the two schools. But I'm not too sure if you can apply for pgwp outside your study province. thesoj should clarify this. I mean is it possible to study in Quebec province and apply for pgwp in Ontario? I think you can but I'm not too sure. |

They probably haven't replied you because they have provided almost all the necessary info on their websites. Germans are very principled people so I wouldn't be surprised if they ignore emails for which the answers have been clearly provided already on their website. Anyways, in order to not derail this thread it is best if you ask your question on the German thread. It is not clear what your question is though. Here's the German thread: https://www.nairaland.com/3052025/general-german-visa-enquiries-part Also here's a website that can help you filter schools, courses, etc: www.daad.de/deutschland/studienangebote/international-programs/en/ Do keep in mind that Germans are a very organized people so you need to be detail oriented and be willing to do all your due diligence if you indeed want to go there. ziggy3579: 3 Likes |

GUYS HELP YOURSELVES OOOOOO!!! I am starting the application process to some universities MBA January 2017 program.i have seen some unis that have an 'easy' requirement process.Found about two schools. I intend to communicate to the admissions commitee via mails that they should please consider the study permit process in nigeria which takes about 15wks,hopefully this would hasten their process. While i do this,i would continue to monitor CIC's response to PGC applicants on this thread for the next two weeks. If it continues to be unfavorable,i would request for them to pls return my passport and be ready to reapply by September with an MBA OFFER LETTER (i am positive i should get admission from this unis) Pls does any one know how long it takes CIC to retuRn a passport or suspend the process upon request? I trust my fellow PGC applicants to also be on the lookout for alternative routes...This week was the absolute eyeopener for me with the Masters 6-8wks applications that got approved.I am not going to try and understand why CIC has employed this tactics towards PGC applicants,i am simply going to help myself rather than rationalize it. 4 Likes |

Mehn...to tell you guys the truth this PGD/Masters debate only live in Nigeria and on Nairaland. Honestly there is no such discrimination here as we would normally have the Polytechnic vs University battle for supremacy.. Your boss here in Canada is most likely to be a high school finisher and with your masters you work under him. Most jobs will usually have minimum requirement on o level. So quit this stuff. Alot of Indians get admitted on this PGD program as well, so why do they sail through? This issue shouldnt be Masters/PGD rather it should be about Nigerians and having you guys sail through the process without much stress and less denials...... I believe in objectivity...Present reasonable arguments if you feel your applications are not fairly treated but stop dividing yourself...Whether masters/pgd all na study!!! Peace!!!
