FG Shuts IDP Camps In Yobe, Adamawa by harbdulrasaq88(m): 7:39am On Aug 20, 2016 |
The federal government said yesterday that it is shutting down Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in the North-eastern states of Yobe and Adamawa. The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mohammad Sani Sidi, made this known at a press conference to mark this year’s World Humanitarian Day in Abuja. “We have camps in Yobe, Adamawa and Borno states but as we mark this day, I want to tell you that most of the camps have been closed down,” he said. Sidi said the 12 camps in Adamawa have been closed while six of the seven in Yobe have been shut down as displaced people have started returning home voluntarily following the liberation of their communities by the military and the establishment of state structures, adding that most of the remaining camps were in Maiduguri where there are over one million IDPs from Borno State alone. “We have 26 formal camps in Maiduguri but displaced persons in the camps in other states are voluntarily going back home. I can tell you that almost 40 percent of the camps have been closed,” the NEMA boss said. He however, added that there were still some 80,000, 26,000 and 55,000 Nigerians in refugee camps in Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republic, respectively. http://www.newshelm.com/2016/08/fg-shuts-idp-camps-in-yobe-adamawa.html 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Kudos to the government on this. The IDP camps should not exist for a day longer than necessary else they'll be used for nefarious activities. Some callous politicians also don't see anything wrong in using such camps to illegally and mindlessly enrich themselves off displaced persons' crumbs. 18 Likes 2 Shares |

isn't it too early because we still hear of BH attacking troops, travellers and farmers. This is s risky game and I know most of them are leaving because of the hunger that is in the IDP camps. May God help us 2 Likes |

Mrdecent:Yes because the current President would have made sure it is so. Did he not say that fighting Boko Haram is fighting the North? I believe fighting them now is no longer fighting the North? Right? Did he not advocate for amnesty for Boko Haram then? I believe you have forgotten about that? Was he not chosen by Boko Haram to represent them in dialogue with FG then? Boko Haram just chose a random person. Right? He knows more than every other person about this Boko Haram issue. Only God will judge every man who had in any time played politics with our lives. 33 Likes 1 Share |

Na hunger wey dem dey experience for dem IDP camps dey pursue dem commot for there, no be any achievement. I really pity them there, the politicians in charge of those IDP camps are just using the place to enrich themselves. Too much hunger there, hence, their running back home! 11 Likes 1 Share |

Good news, Nigeria will finally be liberated from the claws of the wicked. My greatest joy is the curtailing of this monsters called Boko haram to the minimal level. The stories have gradually changed for some months now. We are pleased and happy. 1 Like |

They should a go home and the IDP should be closed. What are they boko haraming for again. It's already game over. Those who are going home should ask themselves critical questions about "Why" if they like they shouldn't ask that important question. If they also like they can let their politicians answer it for them. |
