I have a dream that one day Nigerians will begin to see each other as brothers and live as one inseparable entity. This I pray through Christ our Lord. Amen!! 8 Likes |

Way to go people! This is a perfect opportunity for business people to go into the hinterland to buy, package and market our rice. We can even conquer West Africa afterwards. No more shipping billions of dollars to Thailand. 4 Likes 1 Share |

And who says we wouldn't survive without importing edibles. A country blessed with fertiled soil imports comestibles with trillions anually; and later people will blame Buhari for naira dwindle. The problem is most of them that wail don't even know the factors responsible for the fall in Naira value or the inflated economy. They just wail for the sake of wailing. Good way to go. The government should place more tariffs on import of comestibles. Let us cultivate, sophisticate and feed on our Local produce. 6 Likes 1 Share |

shiziope:yes is N8,000, but u don't want to know the amount Govt wast to subsidize for the rice u enjoy for 8k, now is an open market where everybody compete to sell their product and even Govt make money from the tax collected for the product, let's understand how Govt works pls.... 10 Likes |

eleburu: Is this the reason why rice in importation was banned. To buy our home grown rice at still exorbitant prices. I don't accept bthe price will further because we can never be rice sufficient because rice is infinitely price elastic. The lasting solution is for government to set a maximum price and subsidise production, buy back excess and create buffers for off seasons. Gradually, rice will be plenty and producers will be guaranteed of a contant demand. |

Benue state alone if explored properly and to the optimum can single-handedly supply enough rice to the whole country and still left to be exported but our leaders are short sighted in all areas! Just few months of NYSC stay in the state has opened my eyes to a lot of opportunities that lies beneath the state. 2 Likes |

Dante2008: What a lie! Rice was never subsidize, local rice was around 8k in 2015 while foreign rice 6500 naira. No rice is sold for 14k in any Lagos market now, be it local or foreign, a rice that will never be available in the market can never compete. The truth, is more advisable health wise to eat more local rice than foreign rice. I hope this is not another APC propaganda, to deceive the public from the truth. |
