The Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative (IPDI) has condemned the Nigerian military's activity in the Niger Delta region, saying that its attacks on the region under the pretense of fighting insurgents amount to "genocide." The group called on the United States, United Nations, and Amnesty International to come to the aid of the people of the Niger Delta.

IPDI WARNS MILITARY AGAINST GENOCIDE ATTACKS IN NIGER DELTA CREEKS BY DEPLOYING HEAVY TROOPS AND EQUIPMENTS IN THE CREEKS

Our attention has been drawn to the report of propose massive deployment of military officers with heavy military equipments under the pretend of conducting purported training exercise in the creeks.

We are aware of the suicidal move of the government to cause genocide in the creeks as well as bombing and killing of innocent villagers and then conduct mass burier for those who will be killed.

It is so sad that oil fortune in Niger Delta have turn to cause sorry and more death in the region, such deployments are meant for external aggression, Nigeria is due for sanction for committing war crime severally in the Niger Delta region.

The deployment of heavy troops in the creek is suspicious, If it where a genuine training exercise why the massive deployment of troops and equipments? Where is the military barracks which they want to carry out their training exercise ? Since the history of Nigeria, have military embark on such amphibious trainings in the creeks? When does the creek become suitable for army training?

Nigeria army turning the creeks to a battle field, how do you say people should fear at the propose heavy military presence and heavy equipments. This strange and a declaration of war against it citizenry.

Not necessary Niger delta, there are a lot of rivers to carry of amphibious training in the country if they wish. There are creeks and rivers in Lagos, Lake chad, etc to train amphibious military outfits.

If we may asked why Delta specifically? Must you go to the creeks to training amphibious combatants, How many such training have been carry out in the creeks for the past years? What is so special about going to the creeks to carry out training exercise.

However, the planned military exercise in Delta creeks is aimed at killing common citizenry and attempt to ignore the core issues of Niger Delta as regards to the popular restructuring demands and oil ownership question. The military have nothing to justify their suicidal mission in the creeks, The military presence will increase humanitarian crisis in Niger Delta as movement will be restricted and people out of fear will abandon their normal fishing and farming activities which serve as their means of survival.

We are calling on US, UN and Amnesty international to come to the rescue of Niger Delta people before the region will be wipe away by Nigeria government as slaves and conquered region.

Signed
Mayor Timi Ogobiri
Acting spokesman, Ijaw Peoples Development initiative, IPDI.

Are these people serious at all? Where were they all these while when Ijaw youths/militants were gunning down security operatives including the military? Where were they when ND militants were bombing national assets thereby throwing the country into economic crisis and millions of Nigerians into darkness?

Do they think international community and those bodies (UN, AI, etc) are not following the events in Nigeria? I doubt if any group or nation will come to the aid of Niger Deltans even if the military launches full war in the region. The region is known by foreigners and followers of events in Nigeria as lawless where all manners of crimes are committed - kidnapping of foreigners, oil theft, vandalism, etc. How will US support a region/people who constitute themselves into an impediment for international business?

I'm still wondering who will take their call seriously

You vandalize Mobil, Shell, Chevron, and other foreign company's assets, and call them to still come and rescue you? Bro, that's some whole 'nother level of discombobulation, laced with raw st00pidity.

So if some unknow people in your neighbourhood comit some crime which you know nothing about except that the crime happened in your community, then the law enforcement come and arrest you and your family along with other innocent neighbours just for the sake that you live in the area where the crime was committed, will that be fare?

This is the common scenario/approach the Nigerian police use in the name of investigation/fighting crime. For the police, all the innocent people arrested will be made to pay to bail themselves after the real culprits had gone scot-free. Is this a fare treatment that should be encouraged?

It is easier to say these things when you are not the victim

Why has common sense eluded you when you need it so badly?

Life can be unfair sometimes. So often, those who are most deserving of certain things do not get them.

You people stupidly attached emotional sentiment when nemesis catch up with your devilish act. When your son, brother and father were busy bombing national assets didn't you know it was a matter of time for what you're now ripping now? How can a village hold the whole nation into ransom for selfish reasons? GEJ believe BH was advantage to him to win an election if by his dummy permutation that when northern region remain violence, the election would be on his advantage because the vote will be minimal and south votes would be rigged in his favor except south west where he came and bagged money for Obas and bite his finger at the end.
Buhari came into power having in mind that people security and welfare are his priority but instead of allowing all these to materialize all you could do is to sabotage the economy simply because your brother was defeated and removed from presidency.
From 2009 to 2015 over N800b was pumped into NDDC with nothing to show for it. Jonathan with 6yrs in govt. realized N50tr about 60 % of what about 5 past administration realized from sales of crude oild with no meaningful achievement rather than making few individual sudden billionaire by officially legalize corruption. The most annoying part of them all is the recent revelation by MEND that he's the brain behind attack on pipe line that cripple our economy and this was planned against his defeat to portrays Buhari's government inefficiency.
We are watching patiently to witness calamity that will befall him, the judgment time is here and he will definitely rip what he sows.
That peace accord has been trashed for Nigeria to move forward. He can go and collect the copy from Abdusalam and others that may still stand by the agreement when he did not tell them his devil plan prior to the agreement. Idiot people.

Niger Deltas shouldn't trust this government for one bit. they are liers. the military question which no body have answered yet is why the Muslim Fulani dominate the military leadership at this crucial time. no other ethnic group or faith is heading any military.

don't trust this buhari government. there is a plan to wipe out the Niger Delta Republic & Biafra and then install fear and islamized the whole Niger Delta with Fulani's herdsmen.

we don't need the UN or America they are good for nothing. they don't want Niger Delta and Biafra's to develop cause they knows our potentials. we will fight for ourselves, Russia is not interested in Africans issues. Biafra's did it in the past. they lost not because of military might but poor planning for food security and creation.

we will not derail. don't panic.
I said so.

The greatest error committed by Ijaw is allowing Ibos to align with their struggle. Ijaw struggle is now regarded as the other side of the Biafran coin and whatever treatment is in stock for Biafra, Ijaw will equally taste it.

Particularly that they messed around and extended their insanity to Yorubaland. We will give to them what was bottled up in storage waiting on Ibo to miscalculate...but Ijaw miscalculated ahead of Biafra. Shocking!

This is a simple political suicide and Im not sure they will have any success if they now try to detach from the SS/SE brotherhood cemented to their joint principal, Goodluck Jonathan.

Nonsense. The Ijaw support for militancy and economic terrorists invited the military operations and they should learn to live with the discomfort for as long as they continue hailing acts of terror and economic sabotage.

This is just the beginning, nobody told the North Easterners before they formed civilian JTF to fish out the terrorists amongst them and cooperate with the military to minimise collateral damage.

You have clearly forgotten or are ignorant of the period when the Army would just round up youths in the North East and tag them as terrorists before detaining and sometimes summarily executing them.

The youths were fed up with the collateral damage that the war on terror was attracting which was what led to them organizing themselves to form the Civilian JTF to help the Military identify and apprehend the REAL terrorists. This is exactly what needs to happen in the Niger delta to minimise collateral damage.

For as long as the locals continue to shield and support the terrorists like the NE locals initially did, they will unfortunately continue to bear the full brunt of military action in the region thorough collateral damage.

We implore the military to escalate and intensify its activities and operations in the region so this menace can be treated as quickly and effectively as possible.

Claiming the victim as usual

when everybody was busy forming gangs, threatening the president , threatening the country and all of that , they did not call them to order , now ordinary military training they are calling to heaven to save them

I always said there will be consequences , and i hope the military continues it's training even if they claim it is genocide or anything else

Afterall no one would even look in their direction or even help them because everybody in the world saw Buhari's patience has been world class

DeKen as for you , bear in mind that someone always knows something , someone always sees something which is why an arrest is imminent , to join all the pieces together

Same way Boko haram are not ghosts or superhuman , Ijaw terrorists under the guise of loosers are not robots , someone knows someone , but won't speak of it unless forced
