nowadays. most company in canada would shred you resume if you are not pr or a citizen, yet some still get jobs in both uk or canada even before grad.
It's a lie! I know of 2 of my friends who got their jobs permit visa while in Nigeria. They actually got a job in Canada from here before they left. One of my cousins just left for Canada through same means in May. He was working with one of the old generation banks before he left. If the Canadian companies need your service, they'll hire you wherever you are in the world, provided your background suits the position you're applying for.

It depends on your motive for going to the UK. If all you want is highest quality education, then, then there's no better destination than the UK. Quality and standard of education there is top tier; better than the USA in my view.

However, if you consider your student visa a black market ticket to permanent residency and a fulfilling white collar career in the UK, then you might want to have a long, deep rethink. You're probably going to end up disappointed and stranded.

Uk schools better than US schools?
Anyways opinions are like ass holes...

I think Germany is also cool in terms of post study stay...

Any objections please inform the house..
No objection bro, you've said it all. I was wondering why nobody had ever mentioned Germany as one of the promising destinations for students. I can count at least 3 of my brother's friends who studied and stayed back there with sound jobs. The entire EU, including UK depends on Germany for technological and manpower development. Jobs are looking for people there. 2 guys among the aforementioned were on scholarships throughout their schooling in GmbH, which their Univ gave them.

Germany is good but the language is a problem.
Germany is 100 times better than UK still.

If you have an MSc, ur chances are high provided you have the right age, work experience, English score and if your spouse also have a BSc, good age and work experience then u are likely to get it. Remember you also need to have the required amount of money in your bank statement

Yea, but you can learn their language in 3 months. It's not difficult if you're serious with it. There are also a lot of universities there that run programmes taught in English. If I was given 2 options...to school either in the uk where I won't be guaranteed job after my programme, even if I stayed forever OR to school in Germany where I'd only spend 3 months of my time learning their language which isn't difficult at all... and allowed to stay forever with good job, even marry one of their beautiful tall girls, I think I'd prefer Germany. Amazingly, their tuition isn't as crazy as that of UK or elsewhere and they will allow you to work while schooling. I had my MBA in Frankfurt and if I had wanted to stay, I'd have done just that.

You are not kicked out as soon as you are done. You have at least 5months to plan your next course of action IF you haven't done that before leaving Nigeria.

Only a lazy student will travel to the UK without a plan and get stuck after graduation. Student visa is not work permit and you knew that before leaving Nigeria so its pointless complaining about the UK immigration policy when you had all the opportunities to make an informed decision before investing your millions

Does this mean you can't do work on the side while running your masters?

I'm not married. Money wouldn't be a problem. I'm in my mid 20's should be 28 when I'm ready for the move. My grades also should be very good. The only problem is work experience. I have only six months experience done in Nigeria (intenship) and 5 months experience working here in automobile industry. My field is Process Engineering.. So you see the problem is experience. Lol. Stimmt. Ich weiß. Deutsch ist nicht so shwer...but you first have to learn how to communicate before learning the German terms or vocab required to work in your specific Field or industry.
Of course you cannot place UK and Germany in same sentence as regards immigration policies... True the girls are beaitiful, fit and tall but how many go gree date you?
True you can make millions (Naira) whilst in Germany as a student, the only places that rival Germany in this regard are maybe Swiss or Aussie..

And since you didnt stay, where are you now?

Modified: the main koko is getting a good job after studies.. Although street sef go still pay.. But man pikin no fit remain for street all him life na

Timing is essense. How would it have been easy to arrange msc transcript from nigeria..ask current guys trying to apply for express entry what they go through coupled with the rising exchange rate and selection point.

Also while in canada, having an msc from a uk university has opened does for me. canadians and australians respect uk alot. Its the motherland to them. Autralia even has a special visa for post grad of some specific uni, not sure a nigerian uni is listed in that program.

Also, the pgwp does not gaurantee a job in canada just like psw visa never gauranteed a job in the uk. Do you know how comoetitive it is in getting a good job in canada? canada has an extremely small widespread economy. Despite the removal of psw visa, guys that went to excellent uni's in uk still get jobs. A younger relative just got a job with woods engineering even before completing his msc from ucl.
Another from unisalford got a job with accenture before grad and these companies are sponsoring their visas.

Whereas i know nigerians with msc degrees from usask and u of c still hustling for jobs in canada. Now they are running out of their psw visa and don't even have enough points to qualify for express entry. its even almost impossible to qualify for express entry with anything less than a masters too in canada.

Irrespective of whether you graduate from US, UK, Denmark, Australia e.t.c if you are good, you wont have a problem migrating to other coutries in the world.

I disagree with you to some extent bro, I know Nigerians without Msc who have very good jobs and are earning good pay. I have just a post graduate certificate and a couple of licenses and I have a good job. Canadian companies are more concerned about you possessing the skill and not your qualification so even an ordinary diploma can get you a good job. All the same I think if one can afford an Msc, it's very good but if not, run a post graduate diploma then fall into the labour market.

I also said "most companies". Not sure if you read my post properly. And whether nigeria certificates are accepted without any sort of conversion or regulatory exams is a discussion for another day.

Thats nice ...what kind of job permit is that
maybe i can recommend that to professional friends too that wants to immigrate to canada from naija. You know; a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.

Well, 'quality' and 'standard' are subjective ascriptions, so they can hardly be measured statistically... I only offered my subjective opinion.

Part of what I do on the side involves working directly with random students of random universities in the UK and USA, and more importantly, engaging with the course modules and coursework assigned to students in both countries. Therefore, my opinion is based strictly on my personal experience as someone who has had the opportunity to make assessments of the comparative academic rigour/standard that I've encountered.

I'm excluding the Ivy League schools in the US and Oxbridge schools in the UK (because I've not done any work with students in those schools so far) and basing my opinion on the 'regular' universities in both countries.

Hispanics are good for medical courses. Alot of canadians study in medicine in the carribeans and some english speaking south american countries..but they end up practising in the US after grad. why they go to those countries is another story for another day.

@ the bolded, the minimum number of years that gives you the opportunity for Permanent residency in the UK as a foreigner is 10 years and in some cases 20 years.

Where was it you saw 7 years ?

The new law is even more strict and the minimum duration could have gone up more by now.

Pedagogue:

Fair point.

But what the Op is saying is: Don't bother going to the UK if your intention is NOT to leave immediately after your programme.

You still don't get it? Let me explain.

Your masters programme gives you a Tier 4 visa status. That visa will expire about four months after the completion of your masters programme i.e. after you must have submitted your dissertation.

After this, you have three main options-Leave, marry a British citizen, or Work (by applying for Tier 2 visa or another Tier 4 visa-another masters).

The first two are straightforward. The last is technical. To apply for a Tier 2 visa, it must be a job that attracts nothing less than £20,800 per year. Believe me, only 1 out of 10000000000 can be that lucky!

Talking about becoming a British Citizen or a permanent resident (indefinite leave to remain) is another kettle of fish. With the new rules, you need to have lived in the UK for about 7-10 years (subject to certain exceptions) to be qualified to apply for permanent residency . It's insane.

Countries like Canada, New Zealand are more pro-immigrants. Don't waste your hard earned money.

I've taken my time to Give this free info because I don't want more Nigerians to fall for the UK deceit. However, If ALL you want is quality education (and nothing more), the U.K. should be your preferred choice.

i never mentioned anything bout getting goods job or not with msc in canada. This topic is not a canadian diploma vs certificate vs msc thread. But still at that, someone with an msc or phd stands a better chance on the express entry system than someone with a pg dip or cert. Its a point based system.

Yes. An ordinary diploma can get you a good job. The way things work in canada is somehow different from the rest of the world. Where I work, alot of powerline technicians make more money than our engineers or technologist.

Starting wages
before tax.
Journeyman PLT: $100k.
Technologist: $78k
Engineers: $98k

I havent seen my company hire a pgcert or pgdip. If they do, they would likely employ based on your degree. Pddip or pgcert is not common in western canada. I think it's an ontario thing.
