Ok, make I take this thing from the bottom up:

dragnet:

we have to differentiate here, she offered a service and not an object for sale.
Making payment is a service and you can refuse to offer your service if condition warrants it. it's different from making a sale, if she sold the dollar on a particular day and collected payment same day, then didn't deliver it on that day, then maybe the scenario you're painting could be valid but she actually delivered it.

Oga Dragnet, you are right...in some assertions: yeah she did offer a service but in offering that service, she also did something else: she sold dollar, cos she woulda quoted a rate of naira to dollar ratio. When the transaction was declined and she eventually felt the whahala was too much, she needed to have worked out a solution satisfactory to both her and the client...like I have said in time past, communication is key.

dragnet:

she obviously gave you a reason why she couldn't make the payment for you anymore and also showed you some proof to back up her claim, either the reason is genuine or not that's a different story entirely, your assertion may not hold water in a law court.
...reason she gave was she was experiencing too many declines and besides she needed the funds for personal use (paraphrasing) that ain't good enuf and definitely not businesslike. One shouldn't mix one's personal needs with business...in as much as one's personality would dictate one's preference and attitude, the business and personal life should be compartmentalized.

@Gunbiz @Singapore1: Understandable that sometimes, we tend to shy away from 'correcting' popular and 'big guys' but that shouldn't be the case, and understandable that sometimes we would like to stay out of such, but @Singapore1, saying make the babe no come lament cos when dem dey strike deal, e no call us, ermm...is a bit insensitive and a uncalled for (yeah I fit flog you cos remember, you still dey find job from me when I buy Nigeria on ebay finish tongue)

@TCD @Lordkay10 @Infinitikoncept: una talk well, and una make me proud. @Lordkay10, thanks for the mention, I'm humbled.

@Justijesu: Often times on NL, when peeps who don't know you or have transacted with you asks for who fit vouch for you, I've always responded with: if justi is not genuine then no one on NL is...this despite the fact you and I have never transacted any business. But integrity alone ain't enough. Relationship is everything, even in business. Communication is key. Yes, if person 1transact business, let them come and talk straight 'bout bizness not asking you what you ate for breakfast; I totally agree...but wetin happen in dis case transcends that.

What you did is like what GTB used to do and we all they complain: refunding naira at the rate a declined transaction was done days after when dollar rate has gone up, and doing prevailing rate when dollar don drop, thereby always short changing us. If the case was reversed and na you be Janine, can you honestly and conscientiously come here and tell us you wouldn't have had issues with refunding naira at a rate lower than the prevailing rate?

Cc: dragnet...same goes for you.

As a business person, profit is important yes, but we don't always get that all the time. But you can always mitigate losses and strive for a win-win situation. I sometimes tell peeps that it's possible to be selfish, yet still have everyone benefit e.g dollar rate don go up and you eyed the profit in 'selling' those funds (let's all call a dog by its name abeg) now you could have been selfish and told Janine, come na naira I go refund o, but I go give you additional 10/15 naira per dollar, you 'sell' the fund give the promised 10/15 per dollar, and you pocket 20/25 naira on every dollar (depending on what the transaction rate was when the deal was sealed and the rate when the funds were refunded). If you had done dat, Janine wouldn't have come here to cast aspersions on your person (and subtly accuse you of scamming her, which let's face it, is what you actually did shocked grin undecided tongue) but to sing your praise and write glowing recommendations worthy of Nobel prize.

Yeah, I know, I sabi carry fire for head grin cheesy...bite me! tongue

let's be objective here, if rate was lower, I'll expect justi4jesu to still refund same amount in Naira which was transferred to her since her dollars is still intact.

and we should be clear on something, did justi4jesu deliberately hold funds for 10 days? did she request that the client leave the funds with her for 10 days? because you seem to be accusing her wrongly.
..
..
my experience with d law no be small thing o, na all this scammers cause am, na nairaland issues allow my leg step inside court sef.

Of course she said my payment was declined and she has called it will be refunded after 10days.

Guy na today? Me, I am happy I am 'ungrown' at least I face facts and know the truth. Better to be a small pikin wey sabi truth than a 'grown-up' who shies away from the truth and sees a battle in every contrary opinion.

Well mentioning it has the desired effect and that's perfectly ok by me.

Hey you! don't say what you don't know, Shey when you had your issues with that importer guy nobody heard your voice, did you comment on Nairaland, instead you carried spokesman(Jobless) to speak on your behalf. Where did you keep all the English you knew that time. You were instantly noiseless.

But another person's matter you are the first to dive into conclusion. Remove the log from your own eyes first.

Stick to your unpaid FBI duties, don't bring your I too know close to me because I've got zero tolerance for such people. I don't form cliques or discuss irrelevant issues like you guys do.

She bought the fund at 360/$, so you want to tell me there is nobody selling fund for 360/$ here on nairaland again. So if rate came down to 300/$, and i refunded her exact naira she won't come out here to rant abi. Yeye dey smell

She should have not collected her money back, she for wait for dollars until 2020.

The real question you should be asking is are you selling at 360 now?

10 days ago and little beyond from your posts  you were buying payoneer at 330 naira per dollar  and from that you sold to Janine at 360 u were making 30 naIra profit for each dollar then.

So after 10 days you are now buying payoneer at 350 per dollar... are you telling me you will sell 360? Definitely not. Going by previous insight you are going to sell at about 370 to 380.

That has just doubled your profit for the  $810 you bought at 330 therabouts to about 40 to 50 naira for each dollar. This is in addition to the profit you got from trading with Janine's money buying and selling.

And you think you have done her a favor by refunding her money when the only beneficiary is you.

You suddenly realized you had personal uses for the $$ after you have collected money and enjoyed it for 10 days.  Why not refund her money that same day it was declined since you know the $$ will surely enter your account so that she could have sourced the funds somewhere else?

If buhari had performed magic in 10 days and 1 dollar became equivalent to 1 naira would you still have refunded the initial 290k to Janine?

And you think you are honest.

It could have been honorable OK you draft your comment well without mentioning my name here.

You contacted me for a services and you give me option with outdated historical terms and trying to explain what is the meaning of swindle to me. To cut story shot, we both path away because nobody was will to go 1st.... And you come to say rubbish bla bla bla because data mb is very cheap worldwide now...

#Same way you contacted me are same way many Nlers that lives in China , Ghana , Australia , Togo , Benin , Japan, United State to assist on Fx transfer and I did it for them without stories. All transfer worth millions of naira and of which many are here reading my post & if you need prove , I will bomb blast your mail with their contact for you to contact them. Rubbish.

So if you want a million business with huge return then you're on a wrong place because real business deal is not done here....

Better stay off my lane

agarawu23:

I dont think you are Bro.
I remember when I contacted u for rmb weeks ago and things didn't work well cos the person I am sourcing it for isn't ready to send first. You locked up and moved on even tho my pal assured me you will deliver.

But Aleairhub (which I contacted too) came online and he was like "that person forming chairman with international number shouldn't bla bla bla because I wasn't ready to send first. I ignored him.

No business man will RISK almost a million naira for deals that won't fetch him up to 40k profit (even if i am to buy from you and resell it to my client) all in the name of TRUST.

please We should try and watch our attitudes cos you dont know who is who on this forum. Dont ridicule anybody or look down on anyone cos who makes u mad today might bring a better deal for you tomorrow. Opportunities can come from any angle and your mode of addressing your clients/ dealing with people in general will make people wanna dine with u. Its not just about that Trust alone, manners matters a lot too.
