Why Airtel Borrow Me Credit Is A Ripoff by mrofficial(m): 3:26pm On Aug 27, 2016 |
Ok, so it was my first time to borrow credit using *500*1000# on my Airtel sim. At first I wasn't happy that i was being charged 100 naira for this service. If only I knew that the worst was yet to happen. The following day while operating my phone, I received an alert that 485 naira (which was left in my account) has been taken to repay my loan. I don't understand why I will request for 1000 naira and you'll give me 900, and then still give me 24 hours validity period for the credit I borrowed. Does it make sense? When I can just dial any bank's sms banking shortcode and get my Sim recharged without paying any additional fee. You may find Etisalat more ridiculous where they charge 75 naira when you request for 500. Another thing is, not everyone is qualified to borrow credit. You might even have to recharge your phone frequently in other for you to always be allowed to borrow credit. If I'm being charged by my network provider to borrow credit and my bank doesn't charge me to recharge my phone, why can't they just do the same or make the charges very minimal. The sim qualification is enough to identify people who will definitely repay their loans. At least noone will change Sim anytime he/she borrows credit. What do you think? |

I'm surprised you were given 24 Hours. I'm usually given 3 days to pay back. And I agree it's a rip off that's why I stopped borrowing. I prefer to 'open register' at the local store or use my bank account. This networks are just ripping us off. Wonder what will happen when the 9% is introduced. 1 Like |

Biodun37: They all are just ripping off their customers. Just this morning, I received a message on my glo sim saying my subscription for FASHION news will be renewed which I never subscribed for. I wonder why they are bent on ripping off their customers. |

mrofficial: Seriously , I think I prefer there method, for instance, I borrow 100box, and I intend to subscribe for a plan the following day. I recharge that same 100 box, they give me ample time to either make use of it before deducting what's left... If it's mtn, u must pay before doing any other thing with ur remaining balance, but airtel, the reverse is the case. so I prefer them. |
