I have been in my present job for 8years...I could remember when I got the job, my pastor asked me to resign just because I falsified my date of birth, that I won't last in the coy. Trust me, I ignored him and I don't have any regret. The guy(pastor) is still collecting my tithe every months.

All I know is that a wise man will stay away from alcohol drinking or rather drink it responsibly (a bottle to 2 bottles in a week), not too much, to avoid d effect of much drinking. Secondly if alcohol have an instant effect on you like it does on my brother even when he takes a cup, avoid it totally. Alcohol has killed many people and paralysed many people and turn many to total idiot. This is because they abused the drink and not take it responsibly. Take only what ur body can take and will not alter your mood erroneously.
If it is because the coy is producing beer that the pastor ask you to quit, tell him you will quit when he gives you a good paying job. Whoever suffers as a result of drinking alcohol caused it upon himself\herself i.e he\she is responsible for his\her action and not the producers, agents, or staff of the producing coy. By the way, alcohol production is legal and, also not a sin from the angle of my spartacle. DRINK RESPONSIBLY as directed by the coy. I once drink it and had a terrible accident to the point of death. I was useless for months and also delayed my carrer and projects. It was divine intervention that got me through. If I didn't drink the alcohol that day, the accident would not have happened. It happened because the alcohol clouded my sense of judgement. The irony was that I took just a bottle that day and every other days in the past that I took a single or more bottles, nothing happened to me. Even people who don't drink do have accidents for one reason or another.

just last sunday, after the church service my friend, with all the excitement in him decided to informed his pastor about the recent ugrade that has just started in his life. when he told his pastor about the job he just got with the Nigerian Brewries, the pastor's countenance changed immediately. he told my friend that he should immediately resign from the job on the excuse that such job opportunity does not glorified God and that it will lead him to hell fire. My friends has dependants who are looking up to him for support. his wife and four kids are there to take care of. At the moment he is at a cross road contemplating on weather to quit the job cos of the pastor's biblical assertions or hold on to the job for his family sake.

Counsellors in the house, please what do you advise he should do in this situaton. thanks.

U need a mind of ur own when making certain decisions in life.I work with a foremost tobacco company in Nigeria but I don't smoke, likewise most of my colleagues. I have a lot of friends in NB who do not drink, some Christians, some Muslims. I equally know some of their top managers who are pastors in their various churches. U need to choose between being a church worker and a financier in the church.

Do you know the likes of fayrouz, hi malt and maltina are produced by this same company? I believe you drink those or do you avoid them because they're produced by the same company that produces beer. His job description is even maintenance engineer that has to be with machinery and not even the contents of the beverages(alcoholic or not). One last question, I believe you agree our Lord Jesus Christ, the founder of this religion (Christianity) which we're practicing including this pastor concerned is infallible. If yes, would you then accuse of him engineering people's destruction by firstly attending a party where wine was the liquid consumed and even went as far as performing his first significant miracle by turning water to wine for them to drink and merry when the wine got exhausted.

I hear staff of nbl often get unlimited supply of alcohol drink in their leisure time. That it's just there in dispenser for them to drink as they like. If that's the truth I can understand the pastors reservation. The pastor can only advice though, the person whose soul hangs in the balance is your friend. In this economy I don't advice anyone to turn a job opportunity down especially one so lucrative, I know I won't but he has been warned. He should be on his guard.

Your friend should not listen to that Pastor. He should keep his job. It is unfortunate we have fake men of God out there to deceive people.
