ABA-Newly formed pro Biafra group; Reformed Indigenous People of Biafra, RE-IPOB, has said it sacked the detained director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, including its splinter group, the Rebranded Indigenous People of Biafra, TRIPOB because they betrayed the Biafran struggle through collection of money from local and foreign sponsors.

In a statement made available to Vanguard, spokesman of RE-IPOB, Ikemba Biafra, accused Kanu of insulting respected Biafran and Igbo leaders and converting the Radio Biafra set up by the leadership of the Movement for the Actualization Sovereign States of Biafra, MASSOB, to a private propaganda tool.

The group added that Kanu’s unguarded utterances led to the detention and death of innocent Biafran youths and accused him of not being sincere about the Biafran struggle and using the platform to attract fortune and fame to himself.

“The emergence of TRIPOB is a fall out of the internal wrangling in the IPOB. Members and officers of IPOB loyal to one of the spokesmen of IPOB, Emma Nmezu, are behind TRIPOB. There is nothing actually different between IPOB and TRIPOB. This is why we wielded the big stick to sack them to save the Biafran struggle. We urge all pro-Biafra groups to remain calm and cease any contact with Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB or TRIPOB and await further information from RE-IPOB.”

While reiterating its earlier promise to disclose the identities of their leaders on Monday, August 29th, 2016, the RE-IPOB spokesman added that names of their mediators to the expected dialogue with the federal government would also be made public.

The group warned that the Biafran movement is not a platform for political shenanigans stressing that attempt to use TRIPOB to influence the federal government by a certain politician, would fail.

It is the season of breakaway factions of some secessionist organizations. We have been inundated with the news of a new factions of Niger Delta Avengers and of recent, two factions have emerged from IPOB.

The question is how real are these factions? Anyone can come up with any statement and send it to any media.

Is it government using propaganda to cause division?

Let's look into details into this.

First, we take a look at Niger Delta Avengers.

The new breakaway faction of Niger Delta Avengers headed by a man named Cynthia Whyte, they chose the name Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA).

They promised to reveal identities of the sponsors of Niger Delta Avengers.


Why should a man in Nigeria bear a name 'Cynthia'?

Why not name the sponsors with proof immediately rather than threatening to release their names?


Now, let's take a look at IPOB.

A faction identified as The Re-branded Indigenous People of Biafra, TRIPOB, has broken out of the main group over alleged inflexible and defeatist position of IPOB led by Nnamdi Kanu.

Spokesperson of the splinter group, Chima Phillip Effiong Osuji, said the decision to break away as taken at an emergency meeting convened by some disaffected members of IPOB.

They promised that they will set ablaze the Biafra flag in Abuja, recite the national anthem and pledge to Nigeria on 1st October 2016.

Without digesting the news, another story emerged about another faction of IPOB. The new group, which parades itself as the Reformed Indigenous People of Biafra; RE-IPOB.

In a statement by its spokesman, Ikemba Biafra, the group who promised to disclose their leader on Monday 29th August, 2016, advised all pro-Biafran agitators to remain peaceful and warned security agents to stop molesting Biafran activists.

They also threatened to make public the sponsors of IPOB and promised not to burn the Biafran flag as the TRIPOB planned.


The names of the two spokemen looks funny too. First was an Igbo name that incorporated an Efik name while the second used the famous title of Biafra warlord Ojukwu which is Ikemba and Biafra.
The third faction RE-IPOB promised not to burn Biafran flag having realized that many aggrieved Biafran supporters will burn Nigeria flag if they go ahead with the plan.

The named of the third faction of IPOB looks suspicious too, they added 'Reformed' which was what the new faction of Niger Delta Avengers added to theirs.

From all indications, it looks like these breakaway factions are products of the Federal Government.
