NAF PROVIDES ADDITIONAL FACILITIES FOR RECRUIT TRAINING New facilities were today commissioned on NAF Base Kaduna as part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare of personnel. Among the newly provided facilities are 1200- bed hostel built for recruits and, quarters for airmen instructors at the Ground Training Centre (GTC). Construction works on the new blocks of accommodation started some months ago in anticipation of the recent increase of fresh intakes from about 1200 to 2500 per annum. The increase in recruit intake is aimed at providing employment opportunities for more young Nigerians who are genuinely interested in serving in the military and, to enable the NAF meet its manning requirement to adequately tackle insurgency in the North East and emerging security challenges in other parts of the country. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Mshl Sadique Abubakar stated that the projects were aimed at creating enabling working environment for personnel as a motivation to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently. Further in his speech, the CAS stated that his administration will not relent in its current drive until it has achieved a very credible feat upon which future generations can build upon. Air Mshl Abubakar also used the opportunity of the occasion to commission new blocks of officers’ accommodation which were named after some fallen heroes who died at various times in their lines of duty. They include Wg Cdrs EO Adekunle, SS Balogun and CS Hedima. Others are Sqn Ldrs A Mohammed and BZ Oguntuase.

[TRIBUTE] Mi-24N 'Ghost Hind' The beast of North. In the early hours of Friday, just after the morning prayers the people of gwunje in Kwaya Kusar in Borno state Nigeria was just waking up from a beautiful night. Peace is rare in this part of the world, so rare that the people here have almost forgotten how it feels like. The war has taking it toll on this small village, all the young men are all gone now, gone to join the war efforts. There's just so many war armies we can't even keep track anymore. There's the Nigerian Army (The good guys), the CJTF, the village vigilantes, the Chadian armies and then there's Boko Haram the most evil of them all. Sometimes they attack us from time to time stealing our goats and sheep and taking our little foodstuffs, they are heartless those ones but this days they don't bother us too much, i hear that they are now being slaughtered in the hundreds, it gladdens our hearts to hear such news. Tochex101: Yet Badeh wanted us to believe sound leadership was rocket science. Badeh and Amosu, the worst CDS/CAS and CAS Nigeria has ever produced. Badeh was so hopeless that he allowed his very own village get overrun. How that guy became CAS and later CDS remains a huge mystery. S.B Abubakar has shown since he became CAS that with the right sort of leadership, so much can be achieved. Since he became CAS there's been so much to celebrate, and he's done all these just above 12 months. Badeh could not do anything for 4 years, 2 years as CAS and 2 years as CDS. There's so much to post, i only just pick the best. 2 Likes

Henry240:what sort of vessel does NESL has the capability to build. OPV? |
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 10:51am On Aug 28, 2016 |
tdayof: It all depends on what sort of vessel you refer to as an OPV. The Senegalese would refer to NNS Karaduwa, 40 meters as an OPV. In Nigeria, we classify vessels of that length as a Seaward Defence Boat (SDB). Some other countries would refer to them as an IPV. I classify Corvette sized vessels, 62 meters and above as an OPV. So, by my definition, NESL does not currently have the capability to build vessels of that size. Although the Shipyards in Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Onne can handle ships in theory of upto 120 meters. NESL can only design vessels of 60 meters and below. Vessels such as the one pictured and lower

africaken254: The conflict in South-Eastern Turkey has gotten out of hand. The level of violence in that area for a country who's military is the 6th largest in NATO is unbelievable. You would ordinarily think, for the strength of the Turkish military the PKK should have been overrun, it doesn't seem to be the case. The Turks are in for a long fight, they've been attacking YPJ forces in and around Manbij. I gotta say, I absolutely love Turkish ACV-15 IFV. Those vehicles are beautiful, and the Turks have nearly 3,000 of them in service. 2 Likes |

denisfidha: As presently constituted, the Nigerian navy is designed to deal with a specific threat. It is also well equipped to deal with that threat. However, there's still a lot of work to do. The Navy is supposed to receive a logistics ship, while the service plans to build another and a landing craft of on it's own. NNS Unity should join the navy later on this year, so the Navy's fleet of OPVs would rise to 5. The Nigerian president made a general statement, nothing on specifics. |

I know @Patches689 posted these photos a few days ago, but there's something strange in those photo's I just noticed!! Now in the first pick you can see SAS Amatola(F145) carrying Exocet Missile tubes(Like they've always done)....now im not claiming to be an expert in ASMs but those tubes on SAS Spioenkop(F147) dont look like the typical exocet tubes ive always seen on our Valours.
