Last week I went to vsf to apply for a study visa, actually going for postdoc. I was told at the vsf that only 2 categories of visa are processed now: Study and visitor. They told me the postdoc falls under visitor. I was also applying for my son since my wife is already there, 1 I was told my son can't be attached to me since I don't have the visa yet (understandable), 2 I will also apply for visitor visa for him even though he will be attached to my wife. I expected to apply for relative visa for him but based on the argument that only visitor and study visa are applicable, I also applied for visitor visa for him. I submitted on Tuesday and received an sms on Wednesday that our visa application was under processing at the high commission. We are still waiting. To come back to your point, either I was also misled or actually things have changed and only those 2 visa categories are available for your wife to apply. Thank you |

Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 11:10pm On Aug 31, 2016 |
geekybabe: 5 days probably cos of few applicants. Propably anybody applying now will take less dan 2 weeks. Around Nov,dec,Jan South Africa Embassy receive more study permit application cos that's when most people going for honors and Masters apply taking more weeks. |
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 11:22pm On Aug 31, 2016 |
friendly101: Depends on the permit u traveling with, if its visitor they expect u to have a PAID hotel reservation and they can call the hotel to confirm same as tourist.. If you going to visit someone that has PR or citizenship then hold the necessarily documents they may also call to confirm. You have nothing to be afraid of. Make sure u hold ur yellow fever card. 1 Like |

Which date did you apply? I applied on 22nd myself and I am yet to get a response. I even called the embassy on Tuesday and they told me it takes minimum of 6 and maximum of 10 working days to process the application. Although my friends that applied on the 19th got a message yesterday to come and pick up their visas today so I am hopeful I get a response before the end of the day. guttentag: |

beebwai:Depends on what u going for (Ug or Pg), the discipline, and school. Ug quite expensive including honors. Msc by Research is relatively cheap. Msc by course work+research is quite expensive (like 1m+). You can check different sa school fee structure online. |

Getting relative/spousal visa is now getting difficult from the SA High Commission in Lagos. I am aware that if you apply for these type of visas, those guys at VFS would insist you complete Visitor's visa application. Two families I know, recently experienced these issues, the family members were granted Visitor's visa - even when one of their parents was on Study Visa - Doctorate. Can anyone shed some light on this? Staggerlee, any ideas? |

I am an engineer with over 3years of professional experience. Saqa has evaluated my honours degree to be equivalent to the SA standard but the engineering council had me registered as a technologist not as a engineer. In light of this should i apply for Critical skills Visa as a technologist or as Engineer ,Bearing in mind i have three years of experience as an Engineer and my saqa attest to this. Also what are the chances of me getting a masters schoolarship for part time study as a foreigner on a work visa. |

lastmonth:Good day Bros, how u dey? Forget about scholarship as per-time student. As per your critical skills you need to think very well o. Whats is your area of specialization. i mean mechanical/civil/electrical/computer etc. |
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 6:47am On Sep 02, 2016 |
ftromy: So what ia the plan, ia it permissible for someone apply for change of status from Visitor to Spousal/ relative visa in SA. What is the plan. It appear the VFS personnel have other plans. |
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by lastmonth: 6:50am On Sep 02, 2016 |
femiaction: Good Day, Thank you for the reply. My specialisation is in Mechanical Engineering (SAQA NQF level Eight). Both Mechanical Engineer and Mechanical Engineering Technologist appear on the CSV list now im perplexed on which one to choose. Do employers/companies in SA really give much thought into this, whether your visa says engineer or technologist? |
