TonyeBarcanista: This is the most patriotic thread that has been created during this economic crisis. Thumbs up! Unfortunately, I am so vexed with the failure of the past regime, but moreso with a very retarded citizenry who seem not to know the cause of the problems we are having now. Infact I feel no pity for those who complain of suffering nowadays. They deserve every pain they get, not because Buhari was elected to rule, but because they are still the ones who daily frustrate the agenda of the government to retrieve funds stolen from the federal government by thieves who are not even feeling any stress in this recession. 8 Likes 1 Share |

StOla:Believe me bro, lots of Nigerians don't know the effect of corruption on the daily living of the masses, neither do some people understand the basis of government beyond political contest. Some see corruption as "no him him be the first nor the last" while others see it from the political angle. I wish Nigerians could task the government to allow the anti-corruption agencies to go after indicted individuals both former and serving administrations. See what happened to the budget, in saner climes people will go to the street to demand people's resignation, prosecution, including those within the Presidency. In fact, Buhari statement backing Dogara is enough to call for his head. The attitude by the opposition to back someone standing for corruption is enough for the public to pelt stones at them. In saner climes, having an indicted minister in your government will lead to call for ouster. But in this country, we see it differently. We play politics with everything. In this country, we applaud economic terrorism in the morning and cry in the afternoon that governors aren't paying salaries nor executing projects. In the evening we complain of power failure, but the next morning we still hail blowing of oil facilities. We still turn around to complain of poverty. Why won't poverty live with us? 13 Likes 3 Shares |

TonyeBarcanista: Sometimes I query your fairness in judgement given the avalanche of information to make an informed unbiased assessment. The economy is prostrate, no doubt, but to evaluate the three regimes on the same criteria is pure witch-hunting. 2 Likes 1 Share |

The truth is that no administration is perfect.... But I'll still say goodlucks administration was the best so far... Unluck buhari who is a regionalist and a party/apc/ person goodluck was for the people regardless your ethnicity, region or religion... GEJ was for all... A true Democrat 3 Likes |

The article omitted the fact recurrent bill was significantly increased at various level before Buhari came in. This omission makes it impossible to properly judge whose admin was worse. 3 Likes |

malton: Nicely said Bro..... Gej placed us where we are today. Nigerians shun tribal and voted for him massively only for him to disappoint us. If he had done welll, believe no one would av think of voting him out. Even if pdp present him for the 3rd time. But the ineffectual destroyed and empty what he met and still leave it almost empty without tangible thing to point at. Imagine the tempo running thru Obasanjo to Yara dua, if Gej had maintained the same, buhari wouldnt have any excuse to indict or blame him for current situation. It's so unfortunate, Nigerians are yet to have good leaders but riggers 2 Likes |

TonyeBarcanista:No matter the current situation we face in Nigeria, it's unacceptable by any standard and parameter to judge a govt which has 4-year mandate in just a little over one year. If PMB must be judged now, it has to be based on about 35% of all expectations from him. How can you in all honesty put the economic woes on the president's shoulders despite knowing the garbage and mess GEJ left behind? Let me remind you of some of them: 1. Massive depletion of reserves. 2. Failure to pay attention to the productive sectors of the economy. No roads, no infrastructure development, half-hearted effort on agriculture, no attention to mining sector, etc. And that was the best time to diversify the economy. 3. Mindlessly granting import waivers for luxury goods. 4. Diversion of budgetary allocations and special funds to fight insurgency. Boko Haram was already operating in Abuja and getting to Lagos. 5. At 75 dollars per barrel, the FG was already borrowing to pay her workers salaries. Many states were owing up to 6 months salaries. I have no doubt that had PMB not been elected, Nigeria will have become another Greece. As tough as things are, PMB is holding on and very surely will come through. Laying the solid foundations he's doing is a prerequisite for better performing economy. Though he delayed some actions and decisions, there is very little he could have done once our major source of wealth (crude) fell to $25 per barrel (currently at $48 or so) and with the economic saboteurs tagged avengers destroying oil facilities and further reducing our earnings. Personally, I will score him a "C" for his determination at resetting our priorities to look inward, fighting corruption and dealing with Boko Haram. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

DropShot:@Emboldened is one of the problem of this government, BLAME GAME. The blame is unnecessary, Nigerians sacked the former government because they recognised their failures, and were expectant of change of fortune with Muhammadu Buhari. Nigerians are not interested in someone telling them who is at fault in every forum or who is not, Nigerians want to see those that mismanaged our Common wealth punished, and the new helmsman to change our fortune. But all we get is spiral fall of our means of livelihood, try your luck policies, bringing on board same corrupt elite that participated in mismanagement of our common wealth at all levels, backing of corrupt officials favorable to government, and BLAME GAME ALL ROUND. The government is not fighting corruption, if it was it would have taking a patriotic stand against inductees within his government and officers like Gen Tukur Buratai. If Obasanjo can take it on Tafa Balogun, his fellow Yorubaman, why can't Buhari on Buratai? See what is happening in HOR with issue of padding, despite the facts from Jubrin the government still look the other way. Even the Emir of Kano had to voice out that the government is promoting FX fraud. Some former supporters had echoed similar sentiment. You may be a Buharist, but I expect you to be less sentimental if this country is to advance. Lack of economic plan by the government is not the fault of the former but solely on the government. By the way I'll score the government an E... the E is for tackling insurgency. otherwise a BIG F would do 9 Likes |

FastShipping: My headache with Buhari is not that his own understanding of the economy is poor but his failure to employ and trust people that can assist him to get things right even when they are at his finger tips. His overly trust in his own personal friends and aids instead of putting the best in critical position is his major undoing. I expect the few sane people in his government to start resigning already instead of staying put and further soiling their names. But then if faced with the same situation again , I will still vote Buhari ahead of PDP demons. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

TonyeBarcanista:Tonye, you're not objective a bit but always pretend to be. Only insane or bigot people will rate a govt on a 4-year mandate based on all measuring parameters. PMB still has more than 2.5 years to achieve whatever he promised to do. Anyway, you belong to the 32% group who wants PMB to resign. The rest 68% of us know that PDP is responsible for the mess. 3 Likes |

DropShot:Here we go again. Who said the President should resign? Resign for who? What has that got to do with my position? Like I opined, the former government flopped and was kicked out accordingly. A new government was sworn in to tackle challenges and not tell us the former flopped. If Obasanjo had towed that line of blaming the military for crumbling the economy and giving us $3.7billion as Reserve and $35billion in debt, he wouldn't have recorded the relative success that he had. Obasanjo wouldn't have achieved $22b ECA, $45 billion Reserve, almost $0 in debt, opened up the banking sector and insurance sector, deregulated the telecommunications sector and strengthening Stock market among others. Like I said, Nigerians want corrupt officials that mismanaged the treasury PUNISHED not some rewarded (like we are seeing under Buhari). We don't want someone telling us who was at fault even after being in the saddle for 16 months with nothing positive to show for it save the relative peace in North East. Nigerians need a leader to better their lives not someone repeating who caused their problems without doing anything about it. BTW though Buhari still got 2.6 Years left, his past 1.4years has been epic fail, and we hope he redeems himself even though there are no plans on ground to suggest that. 10 Likes |

TonyeBarcanista:You're trying too hard to justify your biased position. Many seasoned economists appreciate and understand the situation PMB finds himself. Hence you hardly hear or read them castigating him. To you, the past 1 year and three months have not suggested the president is moving in the right direction since positive results are not trickling in yet. However, many of us understand that laying the solid foundation that will reset our economy to what it should be takes time and painstaking efforts. Not until the president fails to deliver his promises at the end of his tenure, it amounts to wailing and moaning to condemn him this much. 3 Likes 1 Share |

DropShot:Please who are the "seasoned" economists or financial experts that has HAILED the Buhari administration? Did you read the words of HRH Sanusi Lamidi Sanusi? What about Chukwuma Soludo and Oby Ezeks? Do you think you supported his ascension more than these people? Nigerians have neither seen any foundation laid since May 29, 2015, and it is sickening. Of course, everyone is waiting and hoping that the government reverts to sanity, but we won't stop talking. 3 Likes |
