The Federal Government has explained that the looted fund recovered so far is a far cry from what the country needs to revive the economy.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said this on Friday when he appeared on a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja.

According to him, the amount of money recovered is always being made public.

His words: “What we have recovered and if my record is right is about N78 billion, and $3 million. We have been able to block various accounts in which about $9 billion is found but those are not money available to us because we are still in court over them.

“The government spends N165 billion every month to pay federal civil servants, even what has been so far recovered will not even pay 50 per cent of the salaries in a month.’’

Mohammed assured Nigerians that every penny recovered will be judiciously spent and nobody could re-loot what had been recovered under the administration.

The minister further explained that Nigerians should understand that what had been recovered was so little compared to what the people needed on a continuous basis.

On budget release, he recalled that the Federal Ministry of Finance released N400 billion for capital projects, mostly on roads, railway, and power.

“N400 billion seems a lot, but you must also understand that for three or four years contractors were not paid.

“So, when we paid this money to contractors, they also use part of it to settle their own debt, they use part of it to recall laid off staff.

“But the truth of the matter is that many of them have been paid, they are yet to mobilise to site and they cannot do so until the rains are over,” he added.

Mohammed said that what the government owed the contractors was about N2 trillion. (NAN)

Let's take a look at it this way:

APC:- PDP has destroyed this country by looted the treasury dry.

APC:- The recovery money isn't enough to revive the economy.

This means the money looted by PDP are in real sense not up to those medal figures

Oh my God! these APC deceivers should just keep shut. We are just tired of all these rants, lies and blames. They said the PDP looted the country dry yet the recovered loot isn't enough to recover the economy-doesn't that sound funny? All these was/is just to create bitter sentiment against the previous administration even after thier exit. I know the scales are falling off peoples eyes but funnily people like Lai Mohammed kept deceiving themselves.
They better get down to work and quit crying like a baby wolf.

So is it that the only plan this admin has is to depend on money saved? How are they planning to generate income? So called recovered money has suddenly reduced to this miserly amount being peddled by Mr Lai after all the humongous figures we have been regaled with?

When people say it that these clowns are the true depiction of cluelessness and theft, the epitomes of the corruption they claim to fight, zombies will keep defending even own goal wey dem don score themselves since! The real thieves in their cabinet and the security chiefs along with d minister of defence have been clearly indicted yet they will not carry those ones as na dem dem. Okay o!

We were told that Nigeria now has trillions in TSA. What other money are we looking for?

The truth is that Buhari's government is not ready to make any person or business a billionaire enterprise hence nothing will work. A government that believes every billionaire is not worthy of its collaboration except Dangote.

Was the recovered loot part of the plan to revive the economy in the first place?
What happened to the 2016 budget for Nigeria?
The recovered loot was supposed to have been a surplus to the 2016 budget.
What a clueless government we have!

Funds/properties in dispute cannot be calculated as 'recovered' loot since the government cannot access those resources.

what happens IF the FG loses those cases in court? or the case drags on for the next 10 years with no resolution?

The implementation of the TSA is the cause of this recession. When an economy is down (ours due to low oil prices) any sensible govt would pump cash into the system, to allow SME'S stay afloat, banks to lend Money and foreign investments remain in the country.

But buhari says he want to flight corruption there by kill ordinary Nigerians with his stweepid policies.

GEJ was the initiator of TSA however he knew it would be untimely to implement it now.
