Jees dude .
You need to show this vid to someone who had served in a modern 1st world military. If I were their Co., there would be some NCO's running around flipping truck tires for the afternoon. Don't get upset now , but i'm just going to point out a couple of things.

1. ZERO and I mean ZERO camp discipline. In an operational area of all places ! I see guys walking around like they are on RnR hanging laundry. 2/3's of them are walking around without their weapons at arms reach. Not a SINGLE one wearing any type of webbing/combat gear with ammo. I wonder if their officers even camp with them.

2. Guys standing on top of vehicles goofing around. Do you know what HE does when it hits hard armor ? I don't see anyone manning the guns keeping watch over that laager.

3. Personnel walking around in flip flops and civvie t-shirts. If I need to explain to you why this is wrong, I really hope you're not in any type of command position for your troop's sake.

4. Zero attempt at any type of camouflage of their positions. That bright orange dump truck in the middle of your position would make for a excellent aiming point for my mortar spotter. Christ, even ISIS smears mud on their Toyotas to hide the civvy paintjobs.

5. Absolutely no noise discipline in that camp. A patrol should be able to walk in the bush within 50m of your platoon and not know you're there.

6. Zero organisation of personnel. Everyone is standing around in groups having a chat and "vlegging piele". Mortar shrapnel and gpmg gunners love big groups of people standing around, not to mention snipers.

Vehicles should parked in laager, pointing outwards with personnel spread out EVENLY in their squads between them with fields of fire assigned by their NCO's beforehand. They should be in semi dug in positions with all eyes facing outwards. If you're going to take off your webbing, at least have it within reach along with your weapon for christ sake. Turrets/radio's manned by troops on watch.
No more than 3 people standing in a group and NO smoking at night.
Mortar pits should be dug, supplied and manned. You need to fire Ilum within seconds of an attack at night.

All these things to be observed at all times, whether at training facility, or in area of operations. NO exceptions. People died learning and re-learning these lessons.

Feel free to be pissed at my assessment. Try and find a military professional in any quality infantry organization to disagree with any of my observations and I'll type you an apology.

I don't understand where all this is coming from, even if you're making a point, you're making a one-sided point. Like i said in my initial overall assessments, there's a lot we can do better.

However, I'll like to take you up on the supposed issues you raised, starting with the part in bold.

- Our war series II : Return to death valley.

British military documentary of guys stationed in Afghanistan. From the documentary i noticed a lot of soldiers wearing civilian T-shirts in their outpost.

*There's a guy with a civilian T-shirt with "bringing ass" boldly written on his shirt

*Another guy with a blue civilian jacket

*Guys all over the place wearing civilian jackets

*A Guy wearing an Atari T-shirt

The guys goofing and playing around in an operational area.

-Now to the video, there has just been a rainfall. The guys were clearing up and tidying themselves up. I do not see anything wrong with that. They are not robots who are supposed to be structured at all times, they can loosen up after a rain.

- Our war series, I see soldiers goofing around, nothing then, nothing wrong now. Soldiers are also human beings.

- Again refer to the British army documentary produced by the BBC.

- The soldiers aren't in Sambisa to hide, there's no way you can hide such a force of 200 - 300 men. A yellow rubber used in storing water is not an issue. Defensive parameters have been set with roving patrols.

- The blokes were attacked, and the attackers saw hell. This makes your argument void. They responded perfectly well, killing all the attackers, with well defined kill zones already made.

- Again with the guys trying to organise themselves, preparing to move out. The video showed the convoy moving out, it also showed soldeirs providing well defined security at each point. Everybody spaced out.

- when clearing operations began, the vehicles where well spread out, each providing the security it has been assigned while the rest of the Infantry continued mop up.

So, your criticism is largely unfortunate. There are a lot of things the soldiers did right, whatever lapses did not disrupt operational efficiency.

ISIS, Boko-Haram paint their vehicles with mode so that aircrafts would not be able to spot them from above. All the vehicles used by the NA wear some sort of a Camouflage.

If you don't view this video, you have no business discussing any topics on any African military.

Highlights

- The guy on the Reva MRAP, "screaming na suffer oh!". He said " when you guys see us on T.V eating food, you'll think we are enjoying, but "na die-hard we dey here so".

* LMAO @ Suicide cameraman

- when they came under fire, there was this particular guy who was walking calmly with RPG tubes, i wonder why he did that.

- NA grandpa Vickers broke-down and had to be towed by another Vickers.

- I particularly like the defensive position NA vehicles take as soon as clearing operations begin, very tact.

- NA Pick-up trucks are so well armed. The Hilux is now an integral part of NA mobility, it's good to see the army arming them with HMGs and the provision of a ballistic shield for the gunner.

- Another interesting thing is, despite the fact they are on operations, NA instructors still put soldiers through their paces in marksmanship. Even commandos are not left out, everybody practices marksmanship. Very beautiful, i've never seen this with other militaries.

- The importance of LUH, such as the A109 cannot be under-estimated, from bring supplies to troops, spare tires for vehicles to taking freed hostages. The A109 has proven to be an integral asset.

In all, there are still multiple improvements that can be made, however no military can have it all. Only if we can invest in more IFVs to support the Tanks and MRAPs.

Bruh?

- Wtf are those defensive positions?

- 5:40 HMG on Toyota firing randomly with uncontrolled bursts

- 7:16 RPG guy fires RPG straight into the sky (you can see it self dresturct harmlessly in the air)

The first 10 min of that video was a complete cringe festival. Painful to watch. Looked like a militia with tanks, Donbass Peoples Army would thrash them before breakfast.

To be honest it looked pretty solid from there on in, guys looked decent while on the move. People were watching sectors, dismounted infantry providing security for the convoy, there was some good spacing, tank crews looked like they knew their buisness etc etc etc

61Mech is right though. I have also seen his moniker around in other forums, I beleive he is an "ouemanne" - he is experienced.

Any decent enemy would give those guys a hiding they would never forget.

The Angolans would have had an o.r.g.a.s.m if they had found us in such a state - like they did during a certain air-raid that killed 13 men.

That camp was a shambles and those men lack dicipline. There are many many positive things in that video, but very glaring and very easy to fix problems.

I don't completely disagree with 61mech. However he was largely, largely wrong in so many areas. I know he's an SANDF or former SADF soldier, i sometimes read his comments on Defenceweb.

There was a rain, the guys were cleaning up to move out after the rain, then, they were attacked. I don't see anything wrong with human beings goofing around. You simply cannot always be regimental.

I provided the British documentary Our war series to show that even blokes in first world armies goof around, wear civilian clothing in the frontline, wear flip-flops and are also human beings.

So now, BHT aren't a decent enemy, dude, don't be a cheapo. They guys got attacked and they showed the mettle they are made off.

There's a lot of credit in that video, i mean a lot. I'm surprised nobody is mentioning soldiers carrying out training right there in the bush.

Ja henry like I said, there is more to be proud of than embarrassed about.

But that laager was pig disgusting. It was a mess. Its one thing fvcking around in a prepared position, its another when you are out in the open.

When you are mobile like that, you must be on combat footing all the time.

I dont want to think about what would happen if Boko had some mortar tubes and guys who knew how to use it.

And yes, we both know that these days Boko are a shadow of what they used to be.

A109s aren't sh1t after-all. They are very useful assets to have, LUH i mean.

There are a lot more positives in that 43 mins clip than they were negatives.

The HMG on the Toyota wasn't firing randomly. He knew where the enemy was and placed fire there. He's firing an HMG in bursts, the gun was quite unstable, hence the timed bursts.

- the Tanks, MRAPs provided adequate cover. That's the defensive position.

- the guy fired because he was instructed not to use the RPG, he was told "don't fire RPG our men are in front", so he pointed upwards.

Oh my God his "over sabii" dey worry you nii or you know watch the video well. Okay let me break it down to you.

- 1st that place his not an operational area or base, it's a place they come to just source of water to do laundry and watch the hardwares. And for heaven sake they where busy with cleaning and laundry when the BHT sneaked behind. So how could you wear ur gear/webbing only few that where securing the perimeter where with gear, webbing and their firearms.

- watch the video there some manning guns /technicals. That's a normal military precaution some will always be on guard and alert and that is why they where able to repel the nursed fuckers.

- personnel walking in flip flop, for heaven sake you av being watching too much of war/action movies. On the real battle ground amidst of the heat on the front troops still must av time to relax, av fun and cool there brain and entire system or else you will av physiological or mental break down. But amidst of these always be on guard and alert.

- the bright orange truck his for the vigilante working hand in hand with our troops, even perfect fly camouflage vehicles get hit in well blended terrain. And that's why in the middle of other military vehicles. Any attempt on one of those military convoys his giving away there positions, BHT is not that dum.....

- too much of movies again, his possible for that number or gathering of soldiers not to make noise. Or even the crank noise made by the military vehicles.

- and please you just showed your level of knowledge on such matters. Am sorry I do not mean to make you feel bad, it takes an experienced army to repel such attack and those soldiers did a very good work by not allowing the enemy to break into there defensive positions. Even developed armies of the world take fall victim of friendly fire, for a large scale offensive in the N.E.

And big UPS for the military camera man capturing such moment, it shows that our army is growing .
Before the attack some officers made mention of the BHT sneaking in. They were on alert.

my big issue was that when they camped there where people walking around with out there weapon. Even in the Navy we had that hammerd down our throats. In a AO you never leave your weapon untended ever. hell as long as I have a weapon sighed under my name I never let it leave my side, I sleep with the thing in my sleeping bag (that we kept unzipped so we could get up quick) The camp ground seemed unorganized and in a disarray. You made some salient points, but i think 61mech was only trying to point out the "negative" aspect of the troop composure. Patriotism doesn't mean we shouldn't see the "bad" aspect of an issue while being blurred by the "preferred/good" part. The only funny thing about his comment is that, that place isn't a Camp/Base. He listed just the bad aspects while you guys listed also the good aspects which ACTUALLY Balanced the video--pros and cons.
Anyway, Henry240, i quite disagree with that your "compulsory" viewing of the video, who ever wished to watch the video should do so as you won't get them Data to view it--just an advice sire. I've watched that couple of days ago though.

It is weird that the south africans on this forum will just open their mouths to talk rubbish based on a a 45 minute clip that does not show you everything.

How do you know that the Nigerian troops didn't post sentries circumferentially?

That would probably not have been visible on the video

And how are you sure they didn't have overwatch with drones or surveillance planes

WE KNOW for certain that prior to these raids or incursions into sambisa, they have overwatch support from drones.

And by the way, they have been fighting in sambisa for many months now and are obviously not rookies

War films and actual battles are two different things

Personally i think their were lots more positives than negatives

The reality is that the Nigerian Army has been wholly successful against bokoharam

And by the way, they have been fighting in sambisa for many months now and are obviously not rookies

War films and actual battles are two different things

Personally i think their were lots more positives than negatives

The reality is that the Nigerian Army has been wholly successful against bokoharam

Bro your going too hard, please don't insult anybody. We are all adults here and each entitled to his personal opinions.

Is it possible that some new airframes have arrived? The article below says some newly acquired warplanes were inspected in Adamawa.

My main issue is, why dwell on what you'll call bad, when there are a lot, i mean a lot more positives in the video.

We can have a balanced report, and we all have a discussion, then move on.

because I am south African and we complain when we come 3rd place in the rugby world cup

That would probably not have been visible on the video

I'm a Nigerian we are football. "What's rugby?".

.....But the video, the recent video the source is referring to only talks about F-7NI and Alpha jets.

Is there a more reputable source which confirms these aircrafts delivery?
