I know this plot is like melodramatic and it rarely happened in real life. BUT, what will you do if YOU DISCOVERED THAT YOU'VE BEEN SWITCHED IN THE HOSPITAL WHEN YOU WERE A BABY AND YOU'RE LIVING WITH YOUR NOT REAL PARENT? Find them, stay, don't mind? |

I've read that asking money from the hospital is part of the court process for the payment of damages and emotional stability.... Not sure but somewhat makes sense. |

If the true parents are Dangotes, then murder all the hospital staff. If it is the other way round, one G Rover for all those involved. 1 Like |

Switched from famous and rich Indimi family, met one of his daughter (my sister) at Muritala Muhammad International, the striking resemblance was too much , she called her (my dad) attention to what is going on. I was taking for DNA test and the result came out positive. Currently United with my new family, though on holiday in Havana but when I get back I will call for press conference at Nairaland Headquarters. Thank you all... Signed.. +1indimi |

It better be the Dangote family. I go first start by beating the other pikin wey dem switch me with for allowing the switch to occur, as Ajekpako I go strong pass am so no shaking. Then I go demand for my share of the inheritance plus compensation for lost time. |

byvan03: Exactly. Best to just get on with it especially if the current parents and family life is good. Why rock the boat? Or trade certainty for uncertainty? @op: I'll do nothing. I think the main issue will be for the parent. i.e. what if the parents discover years later that the child they raised / currently raising isn't actually theirs because their kid was mistakenly switched at birth? Now that's a tough one and doesn't bear thinking of. |

EfemenaXY: Yes, I think your version will pose a better debate . I will look for my child, it's difficult not to. |

byvan03: True. But what about the one you've raised, loved, cared for, nursed when ill, etc. Would you suddenly "switch off" that child? Cc: mindfulness, Onegai, Cococandy, Ifyalways, Sambarry |

EfemenaXY: You just can't switch off, I will continue to be all I have always been. Just will love to catch a glimpse of my real child, I might still decide not to disrupt the family . |

byvan03: Lol! You know it won't just end at your catching a glimpse of the child. You'll definitely want more and eventually begin to find fault with how the other parents are raising him/her |

EfemenaXY: It's really a terrible situation, better fitted for a story book. I prefer never to find out , you are very right about extending from glimpse to take over . |

This my baby now. That I've bonded so much with and ready to lay down my life for . I don't know if I'd be willing to rock this boat by finding my birth child. But the curiosity to know what my real child looks like will probably kill me first. I just hope never to be in that sort of predicament. . EfemenaXY: 1 Like |

byvan03: My point exactly. cococandy: So true. But they say the younger the child, the easier it is to unswitch - preferably under the age of two. 1 Like |

cococandy: Two weeks is too late sef. Maybe 2 days sef? In fact, that mistake should be corrected on the day abeg, before I awake. |

EfemenaXY: I have never fallen asleep before. Sleep doesn't come, by the time am discharged, am super giddy in the head. I just stare and not touch them till they cry, sort of analysing the newborn from head to toe. I don't even know when my own bonding starts, all I know is that nobody should take my pikin mistake or not please . I thought of it and realised that once I take the child home, I don't want to hear the story of switched babies whether the one am having is mine or not . |

Re: Switched Babies! What If You Learned That You've Been Switched In The Hospital? by Nobody: 6:39pm On Sep 04, 2016 |
EfemenaXY: I would consider both of them my children and hope that the parents of my biological child and I would find our way and make the best out of it. It's a tragedy at first sight but it's up to people what they make out of it. Having a second child suddenly is not the worst thing that can happen to a person in this life. But surely I would sue the clinic. 1 Like |
