Sultan Announces Monday, Sept.12 As Eid El-kabir Day by Nobody: 9:28pm On Sep 03, 2016 |
Sokoto – The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has announced Monday, Sept. 12 as the Eid-El-Kabir Day, 1437 AH. This followed the declaration of Saturday, Sept.3 as the 1st of Zulhijja, 1437 AH. This is contained in a statement signed by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council of Sokoto . “The committee in conjunction with the National Moon Sighting Committee had received reports from various Moon sighting committees across the country. ” The reports confirmed the sighting of the New Moon of Zulhijja,1437 AH, on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, which was the 29th day of Zulka’ada, 1437 AH. ” The Sultan and President, Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), accepted the reports and accordingly declared Saturday, Sept. 3, as the first day of Zulhijja, 1437 AH. ” Therefore, Monday, Sept.12, which will be equivalent to 10th Zulhijja, and will be marked as this year’s Eid el-Kabir, it added. The statement further quoted the Sultan as felicitating with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and wished them Allah’s guidance, as well as blessings. The Sultan also urged the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace, progress and development of the country. He also wished all Muslims happy Eid el-Kabir, and prayed Allah (SWT) to accept our religious deeds. Am wondering what power does a mere traditional ruler that Gov. Tambuwa can dethrone at his will have to declare a national Holiday? Don't we have FGN? Don't we have a minister of interior? Don't we have SGF? Are we operating a Sultanate Republic of Nigeria? Pls someone help! 38 Likes 1 Share |

My brother please don't be a hater, Islam is our religion and not the religion of the government, if the government is been ruled by Islam their wouldn't have been need for sultanate, now we are under democracy and Islam is an authority on it own. 9 Likes 1 Share |

ZKOSOSO:The sultan only announce the day of eid kabir, he never declare any day as public holiday that is the job of the government, and no day has been declare as public holiday yet. And when you said a mere traditional ruler that can be remove by a governor NOTE: that can only happen with peoples consent. For my muslim brothers/sisters wishing you happy Eid kabir in advance may we all witness it together. AMEEN 38 Likes 4 Shares |

Ghostscript: My brother this is not the reason y its coming up on monday, the main reason is stated in d mssg "This followed the declaration of Saturday, Sept.3 as the 1st of Zulhijja, 1437 AH." Eid is exactly 2month and 10days after ramadan (10th of Dhul hijja) either the month complete is circle of. 30days or 29days base on the will of Allah is still regarded as a month. That's d only thing that depict wen d eid is coming up. That's also y dey av to look for the sighting of the new moon or count to 30days before conclusion is reached. May Allah enrich us in knowledge Aameen 6 Likes 1 Share |

If eid el kabir is 12 of September then our ramadan of 30 days was wrong the sultan should apologize to Nigerians Remember we started the ramadan on June 7th, now since eid del kabir is Sept 12 that mean between 1st ramadan and eidel kabir there are 97 days. Ramadan 30 days, Shawwal 29 days, Dhul qidda 29 days and the 10 days of Dhul Hijja i.e 30+29+29+10=98, So instead of having the 97. From the above you can see that if Ramadan was 29 days as done in some countries it would have been 29+29+29+10=97, Clearly the Saudi authorities have realized there mistake and corrected it with Arafat, Our sultan refused to agree with clearly sighted moon here in Nigeria, (remember even Niger republic and other nation did 29 days) and decided to follow Saudi a country we are not on the same time zone to do a 30 days ramadan 4 Likes |
