What Kind Of Water Creature Is This?

This water creature was killed in my area at Badagry today and i was wondering what kind of fish or animal is this ,because it was killed inside the water.

Those that killed the animal should give me one good reason why they killed it. Morbid Nigeria

We don't have seals in west Africa, it's an African manatee.

Why kill such an innocent ,beautiful creature? Why does every animal that cross our path have to die..WHY?
Everything must be innocent to you guys. Cows, goats, chickens and turkeys were never guilty, yet we eat them and crave for them like our life depends on them (which is true, by the way grin)

What I'm saying is, no animal is guilty. We are at the top of the food chain and meat eating need no jury to give a verdict whether to eat meat or not. Such is the way of the world.

YOU JUST KILLED 2 MILLION NAIRA.

THAT WAS AN ENDANGERED SPECIES AND SCIENTISTS PAY GOOD MONEY TO ITS FINDERS.

THIS IS HOW PEOPLE REMAIN POOR FOREVER COS THEY ARE NOT EVEN SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW AN OPPORTUNITY WHEN THEY FIND ONE

Seals and Manatees are not the same. And there are several species of the manatee. The one resting in peace there is an African Manatee.

I THINK THIS ANIMAL IS CALLED "toyu" IN THE GUN (BADAGRY) LANGUAGE. HEARD IT MAKES FISHING BOATS CAPSIZE. THE FAT IS SAID TO BE VERY EFFICACIOUS AS A BALM IN TREATING ORTHOPEDIC INJURIES. IT IS CALLED "ese" IN YORUBA.
