Hello American mums and mum's to be, my mind is always with you all especially those preparing to travel as the dollar increases. Each time I check aboki fx , I just thank God that I'm back. May God in his infinite mercy enlarge ur cost and make this journey easy, we will never regret embarking on it, and may we always find hapiness in our children that we do all for at our own expense. Amen. Shout out to firsttymum,
Back to my silent mode as my leave ends in a bit.

My family flew Qatar a couple of weeks ago.
We were 5 in number (including the baby). Our transit period was 14 hours but we had hotel lodging sorted by Qatar.
The caveat is: if you bought the economy promo option, you won't get free lodging.
My mum and I bought the regular economy option, while DH and other child were on the promo option so they didn't get free rooms.
I requested the twin bed room and we all shared the room.
We had a free meal ticket to($300- at $100 per person)
All in all, it was a good trip.
Hope this helps.

Did they lodge you in the hotel at the airport or. Lodged u outside the airport? Also for those who have used travelex is it possible to get pta on my son's passport a well? I would be buying but am hoping I can get more

Group B strep test, urinalysis also done

firsttymum:
I'm seeing all these tests and I'm like Wtf shocked shocked
*Not to sub or counter anyone *

In obodo Oyinbo they have tests according to d gestational age.

And some of these tests cannot even be done here in naija.
There's urinalysis test strip, dey dip in urine usually just Sorts alot. And every clinic visit they do urinalysis at least for Dr E. Which is part of ur bill tho.
Ogtt shocked is extreme Abeg lol. Glucose in urine which wld be seen in urinalysis. Or fbs ( which can be done first thing in morning.

My point is there are basic tests for pregnant women.
Which is hepatitis HIV syphilis (stds generally) genotype, blood group, PCV. Nd may be TORCHES
These are basic tests. ( I hope I'm not missing anyone out)

Importantly I doubt a teaching Hospital will wanna carry out that list of tests. What's the indication for the tests?
And if u say d Hospital requested, I'm sure they'll wanna see a letter.

When I travelled I did just the above and didn't do any extra test except Dr's E compulsory tests she does at 36 weeks.

BUT like nairaland culture alot is better than less.

In my first pregnancy, i only did the ones i highlighted above. So i sent same to my obodo oyibo doctor and they asked for OGTT. I asked my Naija doctor and he said we women that go to US always ask for funny tests that are not necessary but he scheduled it for me this week.

Good morning every one.
I arrived Atlanta safely on the 24th of July in the evening.

I flew in with Qatar airway, 7hrs to Doha, 7 hrs layover and 14 hrs from Doha to ATL.
In MMA I was asked to go to port health for another fit to fly. even after submission at their office. The nurse wrote 32 weeks instead of 34 which helped in making sure i was not required to provide doctors report again.
They collected 2 copies at the airport in MMA, siezed my palm oil and the journey began.
In Doha I was asked if I was pregnant and i told them yes and was referred to another immigration]I officer which spent about 8mins asking what am going to do in the us.
I told him I was going to have my baby he asked to see my receipts, Docs correspondences and asked how much cash I had with me. We ended up gisting about epidural and why women just like to have kids the easy way. After about 8mins I was on my way with my 8yr old daughter that kept on telling him she does not want to miss her flight.lol
we boarded the plain and sat for 14 hrs to ATL, it was a very long flight.
food and drinks were flowing and lots of freebies for the kids.
when we got to the airport in 10mins i was at immigration desk

officer; what are you here for
me; to have my baby, do some shopping for my daughter and visit family
officer; how much do u have
Me;9k dollars and I have paid my hospital bill, do you want to see the cash
officer; no, let me see the proof of payment, when are you due?
my daughter asked him where the rest room was and kept on telling me she was pressed and needed to go now
me. told him when i was due, handed over the reciepts, tried calming my daughter down
officer; i can see you have a hand full. he tried to pronounce her name. stamped us in for 6months and showed us the nearest rest room.
all was done in less than 5mins.
on our way out we were refered to agricultre where my egusi was siezed. reason was that it was not grinded.
in less than 10mins we were on out of the airport.

thanks to Almighty God that made this possible and all the wonderful people that have made this tread very educative and helpful. God bless you all.
I intended to move my appointment with dr valisia andrews forward since i came in earlier than planned.

So these were the steps I took:
1. I preregistered online
2. A week after preregistering, I called their pre-registration dept. I followed the voice prompt till i was connected to an agent. I told her i preregistred online and was calling to ask for my account number. She asked for my names and date of birth and afterwards gave me my account number.
3. After I got my number, I called Lisa I gave her my account number and asked for wire information which she forwarded via email to me.

I hope this helps.

Thanks

Thank you for the information, would you recommend Northside from a cost/billing point of view. Can you also help with Lisa's contact. Thx

Thank God for joyous news. I also witnessed a drama about billings as well. While shopping for hospital to use. I went to see a gynaecologist who said I should redo some of the tests l brought from Naija. I did those tests with my $260 and after he got the results, he called that he will take me as his patient and gave me his outrageous bill.
I called the following day to tell him I wont be coming. 3months after I have left, he sent bill to my house telling me to pay about $500. My sis called to inform me and I ignored, only to receive mails from debt recovery. I told my sister to call and after serious fight, she requested for the breakdown. The bill included the day I arrived Houston that I called him. To cut the long story, my sister (shes my split image so they thought I was the one)went to the hospital to see the finance lady who was only shouting you MUST PAY. They included urine test 3ice and I did not do one. After she sat d finance officer down by showing her the day I was stamped in into US and others. They reduced my bill to 147$ which I paid and also got a clearance letter from them.

Those people....na real deliver us from all evil. Amen

quote author=Tvegas post=49092715]
Just got back from the US and discovered that Brown and associate sent an outstanding bill of $135 to my permanent address since last year.

This is telling those who are renting accommodation in US especially Oakbend People to leave a forwarding address at the local post office before leaving rented apartments. Some medical billing system na alakoba.

I watched something on discovery idx (fatal encounters). This thing is fraud. How can someone bill u for d day u didn't get services? That's how some doc offices behave.

Has been discussed severally, But will endeavour to put it again so that the search engine can have more hits to help those who use the search engine...

Step 1: get birth certificate. The hospital will begin this process for you before your discharge and tell you how to collect.

Step 2: Process babys American passport from LA specifically, click here, read through and follow instructions. Easy to follow and process:
http://www.travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/information/where-to-apply/agencies/los-angeles.html

Step 3: Process baby's Nigerian visa (without using an agent), click here and read throigh. The instructions are very easy to understand and follow: http://www.nigeriahouse.com/VisaApplication.aspx

damsell:
Hi everyone. Please LA mums who have had their babies, how did you process baby's docs? Or has this info been shared and I missed it somehow?
@geojay hi dear. I guess it's the part where you said you had read ALL the parts of the thread that got peeps wondering about that since your question wouldn't have even arisen if you indeed read ALL the parts, seeing as that was one of the most discussed destination on here. Guess you've got your answers now, the search button is bae. Cheers

Not sure what kind of correspondence you need. Is it for visa/ embassy? Discuss your request with them.

Hello all, for those using Dr M in LA does he give doctor's correspondence.

If he does, how do I go about it. Should I send him a mail. I already have his clinic's email and phone number.

Also does he charge a fee for the correspondence. Please anyone that has used him, I will appreciate your answers.

Thanks.

I finally got a quote of $86.40 for my baby's ticket with Lufthansa airlines as against the initial crazy quote of $356 I got earlier even after calling them on 3 different occasions and speaking with their supervisor, trying to get an explanation for the high quote. All I did was to monitor their website for a drop in fares on my travel date. Their one way ticket to Naija dropped from $3690 to $900 for my date, I quickly called them to have mine baby added. For mamas that are flying Lufthansa or intending to, you can monitor fares yourself before adding your infant ticket. Same is applicable to other European and American airliners I think.

@Blaize777,thanks for encouraging me not to pay the initial fare. I'm glad I was able to save almost 300 dollars. That's quite a lot in this economy.

Hello my adorable mamas n papas in the house please want to ask if one can go to the embassy with a fixed deposit account statement or it needs a backup statement asin maybe one should join another statement

im of the opinion that you should go with another statement (if available). a colleague of mine was denied with lots of money in his FD account reason being that its an asset.

But as we all know what is applicable to one may not be to another.

All the best.
