GOV. IFEANYI UGWUANYI COMMISIONS THE FIRST SCIENCE/ TECHNOLOGY SCHOOL IN NIGERIA. (PICTURES)

In a clear attestation to its uniqueness and quality, and also the clear alignment with Enugu State’s government commitment to develop Science and Technology in the state, Shalom Science and Technology Academy was commissioned by His Excellency Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburugburu) on a day in which the management of the school was also celebrating a student of their sister college Shalom Academy Nsukka (SAN) clinching the second position in mathematics in Nigeria having represented the state.
During the commissioning and tour of the school, His Excellency Rt. Hon IfeanyiUgwuanyi (Gburugburu) stated that he was completely impressed with the project, which will turn the state and country at large into a science and Technology Hub. He further noted whilst congratulating the Director of Shalom Group of Schools, that the project was in line with his administration’s commitment to make Enugu state a Research and Development hub in Science and Technology. A commitment he had earlier on made at the just concluded “Oganiru Enugu state” this year.
Some Highlights of the occasion was:
The Official Commissioning of the School by His Excellency
Tour of the school by His Excellency Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburugburu) and other dignitaries
Presentation of innovative items built by residents of Enugu state etc.
Consequently, with the commissioning of Shalom Science and Technology Academy (SSTAC), it is ready to begin training students in the Area of Science and Technology only as her mission clearly states:
"Developing Nigeria scientifically and technologically, through early exposure of children to basic scientific and technological concepts".
Also many other dignitaries of Timber and Calibre were also in attendance to celebrate with Shalom Science and Technology Academy. Some of whom include:
Prof. Uche Eze (Honourable Commissioner of Education Enugu state)
Barr. Albert Edeoga (Chairman/CEO Zenith Survey Ltd.) He was also the chairman of the Occasion
Chief Sam Maduka Onyisi (CEO and Chairman Peace Group of Companies)
Chairmen of Local Governments, Enugu state. (Too numerous to mention)
Bishop A.E. Agbo (Anglican Bishop of Nsukka Dioceses)
Men of God were also present in their numbers. And so many more dignitaries.
Interested Parents and guardians are therefore enjoined to grab this unique opportunity and send their children/wards to a school with a clear direction and vision to raise children who will not only have theoretical knowledge but practical implementation of Science and Technology in the advancement of our society.
Finally, it is worthy of note that SSTAC only accepts students from JSS1, this is to enable them get the necessary skills over a period of 6 years. It is also a Tri-curricular (Nigerian, American and British) secondary school. For further enquiries regarding the school feel free to call 08178544300 or send an email to info@sstac.sch.ng. I haven't seen any science or technology taking place. All I can see is a building windows and doors, chairs. In Lekki area of Lagos state there is a lot of construction going on. And to be honest this building is no different than many buildings there..
Maybe the owner has the plan/idea of making it into a science technology centre. In that case I wish him well. But for NOW, this is not news. This is a plain 'ol building like any other.
Where is the equipment? Where are the all the experimental materials? Books? PCs, servers?
What of the scraps the children should learn to disassemble and investigate the workings of? Where are the chemicals for chemistry? The labs the mixing flasks? The ropes, the pulleys for physics? How about the rain guages and weather boxes for geography? Where are the insects, ponds, vegetation for biology? Where are the drawing boards, drafting paper for Introtech and TD?
I enjoyed foreign science programs on NTA channel 5 Lagos, whilst growing up. I haven't even seen anything like we used to see on TV in the '80s.

All I saw was pictures of f*ucking building blocks, two f*ucking bunk beds, a lecture hall and a f*ucking conference room!

This is a good move not what we give priority to.

"Strange things we do in Africa in the name of "It's Our Culture"_*

*1. We care more for the dead than we do for the living!*

*2. We spend more to bury a person than we do to save their life.*

*3. We will not travel to go see a sick relative but to bury him/her*

*4. People will rarely respect you while alive but will want to "pay their last respects" to your casket.
*5. A person may NEVER receive roses in their entire life but they will get lots dumped on their graveyard!*

*6. We will spend a night at a neighbour's funeral and it will be our first time to see the inside of their house!*

*7. No one gives a damn to know your village until you die and they will all fill car after car to "escort" your corpse.

*8. We will take the dead to the temple knowing fully well they had nothing to do with worship while alive.

*9. We might not have granite tops in our kitchens but use the granite in the graveyard!*

*10. An entire village might not have a single house with cement floors but the only place with cement will be a graveyard!*

*I propose we have "Cultural Reforms". We have a culture of "hypocrisy"... a culture that is "Pro-death" and NOT "Pro-life!" We need to value life BEFORE death.*

Let's all show LOVE to one another because God is love.

This is deception! Share until we the custodians of our culture change!"

Impressive. They could in the future liaise with the Flying school in Emene to offer aviation courses so that those who are interested will be getting their Private Pilot Licences (PPLs) as they are finishing with their S.S.3 exams.

It's quite a shame that we celebrate mediocrity in this country.....
Our useless politicians are just good in taking photos and roaming around the country looking for new projects to commission while the old ones rots away.
The pictures I posted here are from "Government technical college" in Enugu state.

The school is located at the heart of Enugu town and yet the eye of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi always goes blind anytime he passes around the school.

A school where over 200 students are packed like sardines in just one classroom and some even sits outside to write their exams ..... A school where the structures and infrastructure s have decayed....... A school where the Enugu state government deemed it to channel all the flood waters through it and not even closing the gutters.........

It's really a big shame that the same Enugu state government is already out there commissioning new ones while the old ones owned by the government rots away.

"A goat that is owned by the public dies of hunger"

You are right, remember they are just starting with JSS1 meaning that admission into the school is only from JSS1 so they can breed students of their vision.

You don't get it. This is 2016 and technology is advancing all over the world I expect you to compare it with science and tech schs in developed countries. Anything less than world class in 2016 is a gimmick.
That structure you see won't even stand the test of time of you know about buldings.

Please my friend, until u are there, I meant until u pay a visit to the school now that everything is in place, u don't have to judge the standard of things.
This school was not built with any model from Nigeria either US and UK. The dream of the school is from UK and that's where our comparison comes from.
If you are so interested in knowing more details email info@sstach.sch.ng and they will gladly welcome, lodge and finance your discovery tour.
As for the structures you can't stay on Nairaland and determine buildings that will stand the taste of time. Even if you are civil engineer, so reserve all that until you visit first hand.
Thanks.

Lolz, I believe its commendable that governors appreciate private sectors as a tool for national development. Unless u think otherwise.
