OND(Technical people) is for their Vocational Training Scheme (VTS) ,it's different from GETS but the Academy also runs that programme at the same time with GETS. With regards to your second question,what I mean is this all the departments (Mech, mining,elect & chemical) will be invited for the interview almost at the same time by the time the elect & chemical guys will have written their test and their scores known.

For now the test scores for Mech & mining guys are already known. Those who passed, their scores, e-mail address & their phone numbers have already been sent to those who will conduct the interview. They want to get the test results for elect & chemical guys before sending general interview invite for all the departments.

The good thing is: The wait will eventually be over. Personally I would have given up on this, but it's from God that I'm expecting it, and I can't quit on Him. There are currently no students in the academy, and I think there should be a limit to how long they can keep the place vacant, given that there are even plans to grow it to become a university soon.
Patience is one thing God is teaching me with GETS and I think it's a virtue we could all use for now.
In the mean time let those of us who have the faith start interacting here as colleagues regardless of whether or not we've gotten a call from them. They will surely call us, because they have nobody else but us to call for GETS.

I personally know that it was not their intention to prolong this recruitment this far. The reason why it has taken time is because of the ECONOMIC SITUATION in the country. It costs almost #3million to train each person so they have to get financial approval from the group before sending trainees into the Academy.

The bottomline of everything is that they will soon call for interview. The reason why they have not called is because of the economic crises in the country. Hopefully, from now till November everything will be over.

Finally, as much as possible let us keep this thread alive, whatever will be, will be. The thread will only close by the time we would have gotten the trainee job and moved into the Academy. I personally hope to see all the nairalanders in this thread at the Academy at last. Cheers.

But looking at any this group's financials, one can comfortably say that all is well. The group has a huge leverage, in that the bulk of the materials and labour consumed is locally sourced. Even the chairman Aliko himself said earlier this year that he was not affected by the forex crisis, since 80% of the forex he needs is just to pay expats. For the half year 2016, sales were over #290billion, compared to #230bn made in the corresponding period of 2015. There was also about #8billion recorded as forex gains from offshore operations.

The dream is for the academy to grow to a university by 2020. In Feb this year, there was a major MoU signed by the group with the Germans concerning the running of the academy. VTS- the program for the OND guys has not be holding for some time now. So GETS is the major essence of the academy for now, and given the level of investments made so far, we can be sure GETS will hold, and it will soon.
To handle the issue of the prolonged wait, this is what I will say:
If you know you really aced the test, and there's nothing that can make you score below say 60%, then relax, and get engaged with something while you wait. If however, you're only hoping to pass, then you may want to forget GETS already- pretend you never applied.
Also, If your confidence is in God concerning this, and you're sure He wants it for you, then also relax, stay in faith, and engage yourself with something while you wait-that makes the wait easier.

The issue here is that they wanted to run two batches this year, which their budget cannot carry. So they have to get financial approval from the group to enable them run that two batches .No one knows whether they will eventually run the two batches or stick to one batch.

For sure if you can score up to 60% in the test, you are already on the way to the Academy and your name will be on the merit list by now.The interview will just be a formality for you.

Within the next 16 days or one month ,you will get to know if you are selected. By that time they would have called for the interview.
