The marketers are just looking for subsidy money again, how many people are even buying at 145, I saw a filling station before mile 2 this morning now selling petrol at 140 and diesel at 175. I just laughed, those planning to increase fuel price are just wasting their time, smart guys in lagos no de carry car go work again, na BRT and lag bus dem dey use now, cars are only for weekend paroles.

In this era of deregulation, price can only go up and come down again, the forces of demand will surely be at play, awon were marketers.

Stop being too cynical. If the refineries were working and the militants were behaving, this could have been possible and you know it. Not holding brief for them though and I believe that once you promise, you have to fulfill it. They should never have feigned ignorance of the situation on ground. They allowed themselves to be deceived by the artificial life GEJ and past regime subjected Nigerians.

No ma'am, I dont know it. Make me!

Petrol could NEVER have sold for N40 in Nigeria. Blaming failure on the activities of militants is a lame attempt by this administration to paper over the cracks of their abysmal failure.

With a mono product economy like we have, all the government can do is milk the situation to keep the country going, but then APC decided to use it as a campaign stunt which has turned around to bite them in a brutal

APC desperation for power is to blame and nothing more.

With what I saw yesterday at oshodi apapa expressway I guest very soon we are going to experience fuel scarcity. As my people would say "bad dog expose his master to the leopard to be attack" ie,we are the master, the marketers are the leopard and the government the dog. If you have ever been to the forest with dog to hunt u will understand better.

Was PDP faring any better?. We should stop all these things dear. We all know the truth. We all saw it when PDP was spraying dollars about is desperate moves to remain in power. We all saw the gimmicks that went with it. We all saw members of the administration returning monies illegally gotten. We all saw how monies were being paid as subsidies to people who never imported anything. We all saw those caught back then walk scot-free without any refunds ....Are we all blind to see that ll those monies were from the nation's reserve? Did we ever thought the oil price would remain at $140 per barrel and refused to save? Did we not hear Ngozi Okonjo mention Austerity Measures before the elections? Did we think by not saving we would remain buoyant forever? Common ....stop being short-sighted.

My dear, this still does not explain how a litre of petrol could have sold for N40 as promised by the APC.

Another absurd campaign promise by the APC is the payment of N5,000 to 25million Nigerians. This alone will come to N125bn in a month, and N1.5t in a year...just for welfare package to 15% of our population! Where on earth was that kind of money going to come from?

This is all self-inflicted injury on the part of the APC. They are playing on our collective intelligence by trying to point their finger to another.

Why are you folks expressing shock? Please don't tell me you are ignorant of this dubious overused strategy. Simply create artificial scarcity and make the people believe that there would be availability when price is increased. grin

I think artificial scarcity has been created by marketed since the government has said it is not possible for them to increase fuel price. I know the dollar rate is not helping the marketers but they are not happy because they were not making the kind of gain they were making in subsidy era.

Last economic meeting

Buhari: osibanjo what is new in town?

Osinbajo: sir, some people are asking when is iPhone 7 coming to Nigeria, it looks as if we need to make the country harder

Buhari: let's create artificial fuel scarcity so that we can increase fuel price and raise money to travel around, it is been a while I travelled like those period I came in

I swear Nigerians might be a stupid if you can't understand simple economic. If you make sellers sell below their equalibrum price they will horde. You can force them into bad deal. This along with pipeline vandalism is why you guys also have gas shortages. Get the Government out of prices decisions let market decide price. If government does subsidizes it distorts price in future.
