Thanks for the reply, like how much will the student package cost?
When i did it last year November, it was 8k/package. You have to go there with your student ID or send someone that has a student id.

Please, anyone with idea of grad school that accept scanned documents?
Best bet is to ask them or story them if they can accept scanned docs. It might also depend on the kind of docs, if it is financial or transcript, they might ask you to mail it.

Again, another boring epistle for those who care to read.

There was a reason for intelligent people to sit down, come up with rules, regulations, terms and conditions for f1 visas. I believe the rule is: You must be able to support yourself financially by paying all fees (Including all living expenses), Prove that you're intelligent enough to go through the rigorous challenges of their kind of education (by having a strong toefl score/gre/cgpa, etc), prove you won't NEED to work while studying and that you're only in America for the purpose of studying. Lastly, you're to leave the country IMMEDIATELY after your studies. Now, Imagine for a second: a person with 3.8/4.0 cgpa, 110/120 toefl score, 315 GRE (5.0 - Analytical writing), with a rich family willing to conveniently give him up to $50k yearly or more, whose plan is to come here to just study, graduate and go back to Nigeria. This person is going to have a relatively easier life here. The system was designed to work this way!

The moment your situation is not in line with what I have described above, you have unconsciously/indirectly agreed to expect a tougher test so it is left to you to start thinking of how to bridge the gaps and survive... SIMPLE. I'm sure people see the estimate of how much they're expected to spend on studies before leaving Nigeria, you're paying $700 per year for house rent in Nigeria, fine. You see estimate of $700 per month on your i20, you didn't say "Bleep you America, keep your country", you went to do interview and left home with small money hoping to survive by God's grace... you reach your destination and start complaining like you've been treated unfairly then start saying all kind of bloody nonsense about the country, playing the victim and telling people it's hell there. This kind of reasoning annoys me... It's like leaving Nigeria to go to Libya hoping to cross the sea into Europe, getting there and complaining that life is hard, what in God's name were you expecting?

I understand that not everyone has a rich family, not everyone has 3.8 cgpa, many people can't score 100 when they take TOEFL, etc. Not everyone is going to qualify for scholarships and graduate assistantships. By default, you're supposed to forget the american dream until you're able to afford/survive it but lailai, Every man and his dog (me included) wants the opportunity to give it a shot hoping to hack it/succeed and I don't blame them. If after getting to America, you encounter problems and see that things are different from all you saw in your dream, you think if you walk to any police station and tell them to deport you to Nigeria, they won't send you out with all gladness? Baba, they will cheesy cheesy cheesy Let's not deceive ourselves, despite all the hardship... this place is sweet and meaningful and that's the point I'm always trying to make.

It is hard here, it is not your right to come to America and/or succeed. It is a privilege and you must earn it with hardwork, smartwork, resilience, God's favour and a bit of luck. You can choose to be sad, sad, depressed, depressed, complain 24 hours daily, cry over how terrible things are, wish you never left Naija, it won't stop the earth from rotating. Alternatively, you can wake up each day and breathe the American oxygen, try to motivate yourself and focus on the the task ahead, remember those who have succeeded and try to draw inspiration from them. Listen to the struggling people who are finding things difficult, learn from their mistakes and look for ways to avoid them. Try to stay happy and remember that for every 100 people chasing the American dream, it is possible for 99 to fail, even 100. There is always that slight probability of succeeding, no matter how slim the chance is, it is possible. Look for ways to succeed and always remember... No matter what the outcome is, at least you tried.

I will keep saying it, I have come here to succeed. I didn't come here to kill myself with depression. Life comes with no guarantees. If you're here to motivate me and rub minds on how to overcome challenges and obstacles, we can be friends. If you're here to tell me more about the hardship and challenges but always look for ways to overcome them, we can be friends. If your mind is all bleeped up and all you see is sadness, tears and negativity, I will drop you like a bad habit. In 5 years from now, If things don't work out and I end up worse than I was before leaving Lagos, I won't be ashamed to tell my friends and family that I gave it a go, it just didn't work out. I'm sure the positive and mature ones will understand, the others can laugh, mock and gossip all they want. Life is for risk takers, I am one of them.

For every sad story, there is an equal but opposite story that ended in success. I have an aunt who crossed the sea at 18 to move into France. you people are complaining about house rent, assignment, bad weather, etc. If I tell you what this woman went through, you will thank God for your own situation and hope for the best. You really don't want to know what she's worth now, you will think I pulled the script out of a Nollywood movie. I talk to her regularly and she's always encouraging. Will I succeed like her? Please answer if you're God, and once you've answered, tell me the lucky numbers to the national lottery too so I can win it.

The American dream is an opportunity. I am glad I was given this opportunity and by God's grace, I will succeed and overcome all the obstacles. If you're a risk taker, and you want to give it a shot, please work harder for that visa. I have no problem with those who can't look past the negatives, those who keep talking from experience and only see hunger, sorrows and tears. Those who are convinced everybody coming here will see "the real America" and fail in the end. I respect your opinions, I learn from them but see ehn, this boy is determined to keep trying. You can either wish me well, or wish me bad. I will go to bed now, wake up in the morning and walk to school looking left and right... see all the beauty around me and say to myself: I will Succeed.

Finally, if you're not motivated enough to chase the American dream, let me motivate you: You will be saying goodbye to Nollywood and their rubbish, isn't that enough I just saw a movie title: "Mark Zuckerberg in Lagos". Seriously, someone will watch that nonsense and say Nigeria is getting better? Na play I dey play o.

I doubt if anyone is ever going to read this epistle from beginning to the end lol... I think it's the longest I've written so far. Term paper coming up next week, I'm only preparing. cheesy cheesy cheesy Goodnight everyone. God bless you.
I have promised not to comment on this thread until i have my visa approved, but i have to say THANK YOU for your words of encouragement. The Lord will continue to bless you, we'll meet at the top bro. Thanks once again. #AssociationOfSilientFollowers

Someone please answer me

jagaban17:
Good Morning Guys, I'm new here, I want to start my application Journey. I had 2.85/5 for my Bsc in Mechanical Engineering. When I Used The WES evaluation for my grades I got 2.83/4. But after checking through some of the thread I started doubting the result I got. I've seen some schools I can apply to with that result. But I don't know if I'm in-line.

Please can someone confirm if I'm in-line or probably got a wrong result.

Please someone should put me through. Thanks.

Men, you're a writer. I don't have to read your posts but I know you're trying your best to be helpful to the new guys. Kudos! However, just like justwise said, long post like this is best put in quotation box because of those that will repost it thousand times just to drop one line of unnecessary comment.

Please my transcript was addressed to university of south alabama (though the name was not written on it but the address n telephone number) and unfortunately the admission didn't go through.

Now another school asked me to send my transcript to WES for evaluation.

Can I send the same transcript to WES for evaluation for the new school?
