aribisala0: Lagos was primarily the seat of govt and port city servicing exports and imports out and into the country. Or are you saying because from port records in Lagos port detailing Palm exports that means Lagos and SW accounted for much of the exports? Yeye 16 Likes |

VulgarVulvas:I know you are trying to make your meaningless thread longer. My only mission here was to make facts available to those who don't know where to find them At the time of that report there was another report for the East showing palm oil exports. I have posted that earlier . So tell us Where else did the palm oil passing through Lagos come from?? 15 Likes |

CSTR2: Aribisal0 is pushing this lie based on export records from Lagos Wharf. The guy doesn't know that it is faster to ship through Lagos than say Calabar or any other adjourning eastern port. Aribisal0, you are a monumental disgrace to Yorubas with this cheapest silly lie. 3 Likes |

aribisala0: Stop posting rubbish . Why you no claim all the groundut from the north exported through Lagos port as evidence that Lagos and SW was the highest groundnut produces. Show me Palm Oil House or forever shut up. Even in present day Nigeria, the SE and SS are home to oil palm production. Wild palms still exist along the coastal areas of the Niger Delta So pls save your lies for your fellow Surajus 14 Likes |

aribisala0: Just As truck loads of groundnuts where heading from the north to Lagos port so also was there tricks of palm oil from Igbo and Midwest heading to Niger Delta. And for your info, 1914 marked the onsett of WW1. Lugard effectively stopped all sea routes to Eastern ports and also moved his capital far from German Cameroun border to Lagos. Terrain was also a factor why Lagos was proffered over adjourning coastal ports as the thick rainforests and swamps where nearly impenetrable compared to the savanah lands of Yoruba land. By the way, that Palm oil was shipped through Lagos port, does not in any mean that they were produced in SW. Only just a few part of Ondo were Palm oil producing, and it would even appear that that part was part of the Southern Nigeria, before the 1906 Egerton amalgamation. 18 Likes 1 Share |

Igboid: I countered that lie by responding to him that if we were to go by that assertion then SW and Lagos was highest producer of groundnuts since northern groundnuts were exported out of Nigeria exclusively through Lagos port. VulgarVulvas: Cool. And the point about how Lagos railway was built by robbing the Southern protectorate( SE and SS) right after Egerton merged us with Lagos colony( SW) was well highlighted in this discussion between Obiagu1 and PhysicsQED on this thread. https://www.nairaland.com/1019602/dont-blame-1914-amalgamation-rather/2 Lagos was only able to expand her railway and her ports after that 1906 merging. The SS and SE were robbed in day light by that single move. That move also sealed Calabar's fate forever. 17 Likes 1 Share |

Thank you OP for this exposure. Even their government once exposed the truth, albeit palm oil was registered as just agriculture. It wasn't just palm oil from east was feeding them. The coal, lead-zinc from east, etc were also substaining their life. The principal mineral occurrences discovered by the survey teams included lignite deposits at Asaba, lead-zinc ores at several locations, tin and columbite in the south-east, monazite, limestone and lead-zinc ores at Abakaliki district.http://www.nigerianstat.gov.ng/sectorstat/sectors/Minning%20and%20Quarrying%20%28Solid%20Minerals%29 The SS and SE has been feeding their ass for years now. That's why the two region have zero problem disintegrating while the other two clutch tight on a dying animal. The North also carried a slight weight. They weren't deadbeat as much as they were today though. 20 Likes 2 Shares |
