kiekie1: Thanks @kiekie1 for reminding me...I have been trying to upload the images but i think the spam bot is preventing me from posting. It is a 1KW set up. Voc of each panel is 45v. (my system has 4 nos 200AH battery connected for 24v). It rains here most of the time and some days I get 260w at the CC (I know it will be better after the rain). Panels are connected in parallel. the other 5 panels i hope to get soon will be mounted on the other side of the roof. Then it will be in series with this present array for a new 48v system I hope to acquire later. I think the installation set up is lovely. The installation guys did a perfect job...what do you think? 1 Like 1 Share

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Braaad: 3:52am On Sep 10, 2016 |
Thanks very much for this... the 2x2 config should give me abt 90voc. but I suppose mppt cc is most efficient when voc is about 1.5 or 2 times the battery voltage. In this case im having 24v batt with 45voc panel array (which is abt 1.5 to 2 times batt voltage). I could be wrong though...can you explain more? Barezzi: |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by JUO(m): 7:00am On Sep 10, 2016 |
Braaad:45v voc means there is no load on the panel. Imp means there is load on the panel. Since your panel is rated 24v, your imp should be around 36v at peak (1-2pm) during off peak your panel will operate below 28v which is very close to the battery voltage making your system to understand perform. In all cc is underutilised or are the panels not connected since you are working with 45v voc? 2 Likes |

Braaad:@Braad, nice installation. Could you tell us the specs of your solar charge controller. Is it a MPPT or PWM charger? What is the max. DC(in) Voltage? The higher the voltage the better during cloudy days. With 100 V DC in, then 2 modules in series; with 150 V DC, then 3 modules in series. 1 Like |

GeorgeD1: I share the Same view as George D, he actually inspired many of us into towing the renewable energy line. It's been a long time since I depended on NEPA for my energy need. I have a 3kw solar array. 4kw Voltron inverter. Midniteclassic 150 mppt. 48v 450ah Trojan battery bank Midnite surge protection and etc. By the grace of God, I am hitting 5kw by the end of 2016. Kiekie1 is there to run the package. Sorry for d dissapointment. Better safe than sorry bro. 3 Likes |

abunafiu, well done for the nice pics. the secret to solar success as in every other endeavor in life is consistency. and, like iLoveTheSun said in his previous post, you start small and gradually grow bigger with time. just like you, i also started from a rented apartment with a back up solution with no solar initially. it was not until i changed houses that i began installing solar panels one by one and now several years later, i have enough array to power my entire household even on cloudy days. no wonder they say, rome was not built in a day! 2 Likes |

Good people of this forum, seems the world is moving towards lithium ion batteries as they have over 2000 cycles at about 90% DOD. they live over 5 times lead acid batteries when subjected to same DOD. anybody who have more insight and where to get these batteries cheaply should share. cheers 3 Likes |
